I would have to say using Dial-Up or using old T.Vs with knobs that you would turn and they where all 7 inches. I also remeber using those cheap apple computers in Kindergarten. They sucked. |

I frequently use record players to play old vinyl. There's just something about that sound. Other than that, my family has own of those awesome apple peelers that looks like a torture device.  |

Oh man, I was a PBS kid when I was younger. I remember coming home from school and obsessing over Ghostwriter and the Carmen Sandiego game show (which was classic and then they came out with the cheesy 'Where in Time...?' with the new host that sucked).
Oh man, and then there was the original Bill Nye the Science Guy series and Wishbone, which was OK. Then they had Kratts' Creatures which was later dumbed down for littler kids. Man, I miss the original Ghostwriter. This almost making me want to go into toys I had in the '80s like the Sit 'n' Spin, Teddy Ruxpin doll, Skip It... oh jeez. Childhood flooding back. |

God, I remember being in this 5th grade computer arts class and we used those Apple computers that you mentioned. I remember we had to make these little presentations that were like an older version of Power Point and you had to put a button the page along with some weird sound to get to the next page.
Man, though, I remember Oregon Trail. We used to have to type in commands and there were only 3 colors (pink, white and blue). We also used to play 'Where in the World Was Carmen Sandiego?' Oh man... *Faints in nostalgia* |

Technology? I remember a long time ago in school using an ancient Apple, the tower and the moniter were one piece and there were no colors on the screen but green. Forgot what games we played though.
I remember having a huge computer when I was in the 2nd grade, I think I was 7 (1993 or 94)... and you would type out really long codes in DOS and we would play Oregon Trail and StarWars Chess. It was the coolest thing ever.  |

It's old, but it works so we use it to play the radio so the store won't sound so earily quiet. Anyway, the boombox was placed jsut behind me at the cash register, so anyone paying for something could easily see it. One time two girls around the age of 15 or so are paying for a book and looks behind me and then look at eachother and I see one leaning over to the other and whisper something at her and they both look confused and then they turn and ask me "Excuse me miss, but what is that?" Pointing at the boombox. I stare at them and ask then "Are serious?" And they nod and they were indeed serious and I explain it to them. I just felt so old at that momment since this type of thing was "modern technology" |

I'd probably have to go with an Abacus then. An Abacus certainly isn't 'simple' but it's not a simple machine such as a lever or fulcrum. |
