I would have to say using Dial-Up or using old T.Vs with knobs that you would turn and they where all 7 inches. I also remeber using those cheap apple computers in Kindergarten. They sucked. |

Probably...the sink. An old style dishwasher, which was unfortunatley all we used to wash dishes.
Does that count? |

I frequently use record players to play old vinyl. There's just something about that sound. Other than that, my family has own of those awesome apple peelers that looks like a torture device. |

Intellevision. I'm sure I've used older, but that one thing has marked me forever. |

anybody else remember Mr. Wizard?
I woke up at 5:00 AM to watch that show for no reason... It got Mentioned by Bonus Stage once, so I learned I wasn't the only one. |

I also remember the Nickolodan version called Mr. Wizard, which, if I remember correctly, was more like Bill Nye meets Mr. Rogers. Still a decent show. And just as an afterthought, qho here remembers when there was only one Nickolodian channnel? |

Richard Scary made the best cartoons and books ever...
I know because he said he did... on everything he ever did. ^^ I currently own the "best book on gardening ever" and "the best sheet music archive ever" |

Oh man, I was a PBS kid when I was younger. I remember coming home from school and obsessing over Ghostwriter and the Carmen Sandiego game show (which was classic and then they came out with the cheesy 'Where in Time...?' with the new host that sucked).
Oh man, and then there was the original Bill Nye the Science Guy series and Wishbone, which was OK. Then they had Kratts' Creatures which was later dumbed down for littler kids. Man, I miss the original Ghostwriter. This almost making me want to go into toys I had in the '80s like the Sit 'n' Spin, Teddy Ruxpin doll, Skip It... oh jeez. Childhood flooding back. |

God, I remember being in this 5th grade computer arts class and we used those Apple computers that you mentioned. I remember we had to make these little presentations that were like an older version of Power Point and you had to put a button the page along with some weird sound to get to the next page.
Man, though, I remember Oregon Trail. We used to have to type in commands and there were only 3 colors (pink, white and blue). We also used to play 'Where in the World Was Carmen Sandiego?' Oh man... *Faints in nostalgia* |

Originally posted by Belial Oh man! I couldn't think of anything until you mentioned Oregon Trail ... Yeah, just thinking of those computers and DOS makes me sick. Big chunky yellow computers. I remember our first computer our family had, was so old the graphics card was built into the computer. So I couldn't upgrade to a Voodoo (or whatever was good back in the early 90's, heh). But yeah, I'm still trying to think of stuff here. |

Technology? I remember a long time ago in school using an ancient Apple, the tower and the moniter were one piece and there were no colors on the screen but green. Forgot what games we played though.
I remember having a huge computer when I was in the 2nd grade, I think I was 7 (1993 or 94)... and you would type out really long codes in DOS and we would play Oregon Trail and StarWars Chess. It was the coolest thing ever. |

I used to have an Atari. Well, my grandparents did, but they never used it.
Breakout was fun. |

Originally posted by Master Shredder Oh man, I had the girly version of that. There was this South American kids show with this blonde girl named Xuxa hosting. For my birthday, a friend got me this tape recorder that looked like a video camera and had the little microphone in the front. Man, we were just discussing the tape recorder from Home Alone 2 the other day too. I think it was called the TalkBoy. Hahahaha, and I've been in WhiteRose's place so many times lately. I feel so old talking about some of these things with younger folk. |

Originally posted by Rogue I remember those as well, though I can only recal going to a drive through twice. Then there are boomboxes. Really popular in the late 80's early 90's. I bring this up to mention a story that is about to make anyone near my age feel ancient. We have an old boombox in the bookstore where I work, since our sterio broke down a while ago. It's old, but it works so we use it to play the radio so the store won't sound so earily quiet. Anyway, the boombox was placed jsut behind me at the cash register, so anyone paying for something could easily see it. One time two girls around the age of 15 or so are paying for a book and looks behind me and then look at eachother and I see one leaning over to the other and whisper something at her and they both look confused and then they turn and ask me "Excuse me miss, but what is that?" Pointing at the boombox. I stare at them and ask then "Are serious?" And they nod and they were indeed serious and I explain it to them. I just felt so old at that momment since this type of thing was "modern technology" |

I'd probably have to go with an Abacus then. An Abacus certainly isn't 'simple' but it's not a simple machine such as a lever or fulcrum. |

Originally posted by ErkDog Well I don't mean simple things like hammers, pencils, crayons, or anything like that, but more 8-track tape players, 78s, computers that didn't have a mouse, non-color monitors, and so on. So basically, not primitive, but what would be considered old for our time now. It's a cheesy question, I know, but I'm feeling nostalgic. EDIT: Sorry, keep having to edit my typos. |

The Atari...
... Yes... Dig Dug was an awesome game, and it feels VERY primitive now... Oh! And I use the wheel... |

Do you know the movie 'Home Alone 2'?
Remember Kevin using that one toy where he recorded just about everything to help aid him on his alone journey? Yeah, I used that ALOT back in the day... Jesus, what was that thing called? |

I guess it depends on your definition of the word "technology"
I use hammers all the time which is nothing more than a weight attached to the end of a lever. |
