Aww, such a cute little puppy!! Now hopefully she will let you sleep. |

Aww, she's adowable. Good name idea.
My cousin has a dog named Lilly, big poodle. Not a tiny one. Up past your waist (well, mine, and I'm pretty tall). Good for you! |

Sorry to bump this up (even thought it's really not that old), but I finally got my puppy. After various name changes we ended up naming her Lily.
Here's a picture of her and me: And here's one of her asleep: I'm so happy to finally have her! |

Well if you want your pet to be slightly more responsive, then go for a name that ends in an "ee" sound. Apparently cats and dogs respond to their name better if they are given a name with an "ee" sound on the end, such as my cats are called Cookie, Roxy and Max (Who we nearly always call Maxy as he responds a heck of a lot better to Maxy than Max).
Then again, bonbon sounds good and I love marshmallows. |

Perhaps, for flair, you could name her after one of the many words for marshmallow from the Headless Space-muslims of the planet Beatleguese (they have over 5000 words for marshmallow, insofar as they are the Beatlegusian equivalent of Eskimos and it snows marshmallows):
1) Captain Dan the Mountain Man 2) Jesus H. Christ 3) Shake your bonbon, shake your bonbon, shake your bonbon 4) Monkey-face 5) Interscholastic Tri-weasel Explosivo Deathsnake 6) Mu 7) Pinguino 8) La Perrita del Inferno... de pinguinos. 9) Venomouslobster 10) Four-legged canid deathbeast of fleshrending and indescriminate poopings +5 11) 4990 other variants that can only be pronounced if you have 9 assholes (if you ate marshmallows for every meal every day you would wish you had 9 assholes too) Thank you, and goodnight! ... or Bonbon is good too. |

What about Marshmallow? Marshmallow is cute... |

Wow, so many names, but it seems like Bonbon seems to be the one. Now to convince my mom of it, which won't be a problem. We won't be getting her till January, sadly, but I'll put a picture of her and me up as soon as I can. Thanks everyone for your suggestions! |

Originally posted by GrediusI'm so gonna name my own cat that one day (where it is purely mine, not a 'family' cat). I want two, so I can name one Optimus and the other some anime reference depending on it's appearance. But yeah, name her... Lala? Sunfreckle? Love? Daisy? Some other really lame girly name? Out of the ones so far though, I'd go with Bonbon. |

I refuse to acknowledge 'Patches' as her nickname, she just gave it to herself to try and fit in.
But yeah, Bonbon is cute... just be warned that I will most likely always pronounce it the "white girl" way. |

Originally posted by Pockets Oddly 'she' was the first thing to come to mind when I read Patches. And I don't even talk to her like you guys did. Anyways. Ironically we were looking at fluffy white and brown puppies today. One we wanted to name Gizmo, the other was a girl and we couldn't decide. |

do NOT name her Patches. That was the nickname of a certain woman who shall
otherwise remain nameless, (you know who I mean.) I like Bonbon. It's cute. Or Cinnamon. |

lol, Optimus Prime would be interesting, but not sure she would like it. Haven't named her yet since I haven't gotten her yet, I won't be getting her till the ends of this month. Still thinking about it and I have to go through the names with my parents to make sure they can pronounce the names. I'll let people know when I've named her. Thanks to everyone so far for the name ideas. |

"Sex got out again. Let's go get Sex".
So have you named it yet? For some reason I've always thought anime / videogame names would work well for animals, I guess. Optimus Prime would be amazing. |

Originally posted by Elara That's actually very good advice. When I got the cats I have now, they went without names for a week and even the names I gave them, that I was sure about, changed just as quickly. Fappy was originally called "Kamikaze," because for a little guy he liked to launch off of high places all the time. Then I thought of how weird it would be to try and call him in and what the neighbors might think. Harrison, afterall, used to answer to his name perfectly, and come running from wherever he was when he heard it. Had the same name changes for Miko. She went without a name for a while. Then I thought about calling her "Nameless" and then even moreso "Nameless Ninja." Thought about how strange that would be to shout in the neighborhood. That dropped just as quickly. She answers to Miko all right, but since my parents call Fappy "Tuxedo," he really doesn't answer to anything. Although cats and dogs are different (obviously) when it comes to them responding when you say its name, I highly recommend something simple and sticking to it. But now for my suggestions... Brown: Kafe Hazel Goddesses: Sedna (Inuit goddess of the seas) Nut (pronounced "Newt"--Egyptian goddess of night) Sol (Norse goddess of the sun) Gaia Of course there is that old joke about naming your dog "Sex," because were you to lose them you could go around saying you're looking "Sex." Yeah, it's really lame, but it's one of those jokes people seem to tell and not understand it isn't as amusing as it was in 5th grade. |

Yeah, spending time with the puppy usually helps name it... like my neighbors and their dog Wizard (I think you remember that story). Personally, I'd say stick to a one or two-syllable name since it makes calling/training/commanding easier... even though I like Anastasia, but meh. |
WhiteRose Posts: 985/1461 |
She's a mut. I'm not positive of what she looks like since I saw her and the rest of her liter when they were just a few days old. She's a small dog. My mom has suggested Anastasia and my boss thought maybe Canela (spanish for cinnamon) would be cute. I've also given slight thought to Jasmin. Here is what has been suggested and a few more that I have thought of:
-Marshmallow (or the spanish Bonbon) -Kimiko -Patches -Coco -Anastasia -Cinannamon (or Canela) -Jasmine -Luna -Hina -Gardenia -Henna -Holly -Lily So now I need to narrow it down. Maybe I can decide once I have her with me. |
Elara Posts: 3923/9736 |
Well, there is always "Patches", since it's different colors. Or Coco, as in the white and normal varieties. What kind of dog is it anyway? |
