Yeah, I have a signed one of their "The Greate Donkey of Bethlehem: Formerly Known as 'Jesus' Big Black Ass'" posters signed. Richard signed next to the donkey's head, "Not just my ears are long!"
So... while there's something of a captive audience, time to plan out the masquerade stuff. |

I want to catch one of their indoor shows again. While they are great at fair, I just feel like they are better at the indoor shows. Maybe cause the show is longer, but still. I still have my Canned Hamlet poster signed by them. Elara got one too. |

Tappy looks insane in the picture, heh heh.
But yes, Koroneburg should be happening soon... need to talk to Bernard to find out when we are going. |

Oh my god, this was the coolest thing ever. I'd never seen S&F before, so I didn't know Phil, but these guys were hilarious. And the few boggards that I did see were great. I miss Faire. |

Shamefully, I didn't take any pictures of the group (mostly just S&F and Boggards), but it was a really fun go at faire.
Saw a few groups I hadn't seen the last time and met some cool people. So ... anyone for Koroneburg? More photos from my camera: |

Christina snuck in these huge sandwiches for us. Kind of funny eating these things with both hands while watching Broon!'s show and having him look over every now and then.
Gee, was Bill (Cap'n Black) drunk? I dunno, dropping those Guinness in one shot looks like it was affecting him. |

Hence why I'm planning on doing the $20 all you can eat lunch thing.
That little video was awesome, there needs to be more Boggard AMVs. |

So after going to faire this past weekend I can remark on a few things.
- I met the new guy and he's really sweet. While Phil was cool and funny, Vinny's VERY personable and approachable. Think of him as a cute and breakable Shelby that you could put in your pocket and take with you everywhere. I saw his very first performance and improv with the group. Both Richard and Shelby were very excited that he was getting to sign people's posters and getting to know people. - There's several areas where there are just random performers, though they tend to be overshadowed by the people in the drink and food stalls yelling to come buy from them. - There's almost no reason to leave Rogue's Reef this year. Sound & Fury, Boggards, Belles, and Wives all perform on the same stage. Moonie and Broon! also have their own things going, but it's the exact same bits they've been doing for the past 5 years. Still funny, though, of course. - Food prices seem to have risen a bit. For those of you who can't wait to hit faire this year, here's a little fan vid someone drew up: |

I need to make a new bodice. The one my mom and I made for last year's works well for pirate garb, but if I'm supposed to be a peasant, I need to make an English bodice. Shouldn't take too long.
I also still need to look into costuming for the Masquerade. Which reminds me. After AX, you can have my volunteer deposit and I'll still owe you another $20-something (can't remember if's it's $54 or $56). Thanks to you I also have 2 pre-bought tickets from that deal around New Year's. Thaaaaaaaaank you. |

Yeah, was very happy that S&F are back at Southern. Also, the 3 for 2 special will be ending soon, so if your gonna take advantage of that, you better buy your tickets soon. I won't be able to make it opening, but I will go around my usual time which is April 29th (A sunday) this year and I will be going in garb.
Anyways, Vinny Cardinale looks very familiar to me, but I don't know why. |

Richard just announced that they have replaced Shannon (who was only meant to be temporary anyway) with a new guy--Vinny Cardinale.
This guy: Supposedly Shannon will be filling in for the first few weeks and then Vinny'll be taking over. And yes, they are back at Southern this year. No Koroneburg. Speaking of which, I was at a science fiction society meeting last night and happened to pick up a couple 2-for-1 coupons for Southern; however, they are only usable the first weekend (i.e. a week from tomorrow). I have two coupons available. I'd like to go to opening, if anyone's interested. Zoso's willing to go, but we'll have to see when the day comes, concerning parking and such. Tickets--there's supposedly an early bird deal going on, buy 2 tickets, get a third free, but it doesn't show up on the ticket site--https://tix.extremetix.com/tix/SilverStream/Pages/pgIndex.html?siteID=904 The usual people have been recruited for entertainment this year (Boggards, Wives, Belles, Moonie/Broon!), I don't see Marlowe's Shadowe, though. Looks like there's a ton of new musicians playing this faire, specifically minstrels and Scottish bagpipers and drummers. Woot. |

Frankly i dont care if they dont go to Southern, since i will be going to Koronaberg anyway because it rocks my ass! (better food better beer cheaper stuff smaller area and they make trebuchets when they're bored) |

Well, he lasted the longest of all the third guys I ever saw. WhiteRose remembers. I think that they are good as long as Richard and Shelby are still there... if either of them left I don't know what would happen. Hopefully they come back to Southern, but if they don't I have no problem going to Kronenburg to see them. |

I'm not sure if Southern is going to invite S&F back or not, but I know there's been a demand for them. Hell, when I got the survey at this last year's faire and they wanted to know what new acts they should bring in, I wrote in bold, capitalized letters, "BRING BACK SOUND AND FURY!!!" Sure, it's just one person, but people were really mad about their rejection.
They are, however, planning a new indoor show called "Cyranose," based on Cyrano de Bergerac, of course. Hopefully this won't be affected by Phil's leaving since they were putting it together before his decision. At least so I've been informed. |

Wow, well it's a shame to see him go, but I wish him the best of luck. The show must go on though and Shannon is just as great as Phil in Sound & Fury. Will S&F be performing at Renfair this year? |

This is more of an announcement to the Long Beach/Paramount, CA members who also religiously go to the Southern California Pleasure Faire, but...
Phil Van Hest, also known as the "third guy" from Sound & Fury, has left to pursue his solo career and Shannon, a former "third guy" will be coming in to temporarily take his place. Some of you might remember Shannon as the other half of Shelby's brief two-man show, Pyramus and Thisby, as seen here: Shelby had told me a few months ago that he and Shannon were planning on putting together a faire act (like Danse Macabre and the Puritans) where they were both wandering lepers. Well, guess that'll be put off for the sake of the troupe, unless like several members of Boggards, Merry Wives, and even Marlowe's Shadowe, they manage to multi-task and play not just for their main guild group, but other characters in the faire (example: John Breen of the Boggards is the Lord Mayor, Jenny of Merry Wives is the Mistress of Misrule, etc). So just passing the news along. If I could send out a mass PM to the group, I would, but I'm too lazy for single PMs. |
