You realize 2000 hours is a little under 3 months, continuous. So, realistically, spread that across a few more months, maybe 6 to 9 months to build. Probably a bit more time for research and development. All in all, I'm assuming it's about less than 1 year to maybe 2 to 3 years. Probably not a lot.
Simple math, though. Just because it's a large number doesn't mean it'll translate to a larger quantitative number. Also, those figures are assuming one person did it. If this person had help, then the cumulative hours would factor in, and in turn mean less total realistic time than anticipated. For example, on our last company project, we invested close to 100 hours to complete the project. Does that mean it took close to six days? Nope, two days. We just had a team of eight people working overtime at various overlaps across those two days. |

According to the blog for this, it took 3000 Euros and 2000 hours to build/program. Truly amazing for Lego. |
