I'm not exactly sure about the specifics, but supposedly the lower the chakra the more we need to satisfy what it represents (Keep in mind I'm trying to pull all this from memories of my non-Western philosophy class last semester).

Think of it like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Maslow%27s_hierarchy_of_needs.png

Supposedly practicing zazen or meditation help align these chakras and help you to rise toward the top of the needs you satisfy.

According to many Eastern philosophy scholars, most Americans only try to fulfill the bottom two (sex and security), hence why our government is so concerned with "homeland security" and such.

Did that really answer anything?

Here's a much more in-depth set of charts: http://www.astramate.com/chakras.htm

Hey Elara, kinda being a little off-topic (Well, maybe makura can answer more, I saw her pic of her custom title and I HAD to ask this question )

How much do you know about Chakra (Not the naruto bullshit, I mean it as some type of bodly balance in human nature )

One of my cast members brought me a book to check out one day and I noticed that there was a Sex drive chakra. In Makura's custom title, its the little light around the genital area of the human body.

The little red light here. I know thats a Sexual Chakra or something like that

Was wondering if you, or Makura, could possiably share some info on that?

I know it seems weird of me asking. But like the book I read, I think that Sex is a part of a balance.

Passion, Intimacy (trust, not sex), and Commitment are the three components of love, which combines in various ways to form the seven types of love. This is known as Sternberg's Triangle

Consumate Love posseses all three traits, and that is what we seem to be referring to when we talk about sex with someone you love. The one that comes closest to that would be Romantic Love (passion and initmacy only), which is what many couples experience, esspecially young people. Of course, this can also be considered the type of love that leads to the "slut" classification, along with Infatuated Love, which is just passion.

And that is my nerd rant for the day.

Well, it's good that you know homosexual people who restrain themselves.

My one friend isn't too bad, though he get's a little....cuddly...with guys who are straight. Like me.

Love and passion together are what make good couples Barring any other complications

Both are important to having a lasting relationship. How much of what really depends on the people involved, but generally, absolutes don't work, so I assume it's fairly safe to say you need a bit of both

Love without passion, well that's family really. Passion without love, that's a lot like short relationships that are more for the fun of it than anything serious.

And the bigger they are, the harder they fall, in many respects. Taking everything in moderation, how fast to sex, etc, is important.

I have some Lesbian friends (Several different couples actually) and I can say that the whole fast to sex thing doesn't mean much really. Some had a bit more free spirit towards it (no risk) Others were really heavily weighed down by morals and personal standards. So it flies both ways on that one in my personal experience knowing people.

And on the flip side, I know some straight people, male and female, who would screw anything decent to come their way So to say one's more than the other really depends on who you know and what groups you associate with in different ways I'd say.

I'd probably say it's someone who freely has sex with multiple people, or has had sex with multiple people in a somewhat short amount of time. By freely, I mean without regards as much to emotional attachment, rather, has had sex with different people based on lust more than anything else.

Like someone who just get's horny, has sex with people they're attracted to, but there's no relationship involved. Continually having one night stands, or week or two long relationships and cycling around between lot's of people.

What you do in the bedroom really is more talking about fetishes, likes/dislikes, wild/or not, etc Doesn't have much to do with being a whore.

But we can just go with the classical definition of whore as "someone who has sex with people for money"

This brings another question to mind: Since the distinction and label of "Whore" and "slut" are necessary, how should we justly label these people.

for example, am I a whore or slut because I've had sex with one person? Or do the actions you take in the bedroom with that person what distinguish someone as a whore or slut. If I have a fancy to give a female oral satisfaction() am I a whore? A slut?

Riddle me that.

Nuit, your points aside, the AIM speak needs to go. It's not much harder to type 'really'. Also, was that an attempt to insult specific members of the board? If so, stop it now.

Anywho, love and sex are different and you can have one without the other, though in my opinion sex without love is meaningless even if it feels good.

As for the topic at hand, the only real distinction I make between hetero and homo sex is that they do it differently. I can only assume it feels different to them, since they can't really use the heterosexual method; but it gives them pleasure so more power to them.

I was just noting that everyone is not really a "whore" or "slut."

Actually, not really!

Not to sound like I'm just giving you shit, but care to elaborate more on your opinion?

In answer to the new question, as I honestly doubt I could swing toward wanting women I can't answer for any lesbians or gay men, but I only see it as the physical expression of love (and/or lust) between two people. If two people want to explore each other, why not?

I incredibly and thoroughly disagree with almost everything you just said.

Trust me, I see so many more people that look like sluts than people that actually are sluts.

I assume you're young. I know plenty of girls that lie and talk shit behind other girl's backs, and then you find out the truth about them. They are sluttier than any of the other people they have been talking shit about. As they say, it's easier to apologize than it is not to do it.

And no they aren't related, god dammit. Stop fucking period, and see how long they stick around out of "love."

Way to be a fucking asshole. I'm in a long distance relationship with him and we go without physical contact for anywhere from one to three months at a time. Then again, we are exceptional humans, much more enlightened than the ones you're used to

O rly? The humans I am used to are the ones that frequent this message board. So much for being more enlightened :/

I think Rogue has a pretty good handling on it. I think double-standards are stupid as well. I just think we should stop using words like slut, whore, etc because everyone is one. Like Rogue mentioned, even if not in general, for one person at least, we are. If not yet, it's just a matter of time.

I differ homosexuality from heterosexuality in the sense that I've seen what seems to differ between the sexual relationships of young people. Homosexual friends of mine have moved extremely quickly into sexual acts with each other. While the majority of Heterosexual relationships I have witnessed, have moved at a much steadier pace. That's just my experience though.

Rogue, you're words make me flutter.

Anyway, new topic, do you view homosexual sex differently from heterosexual sex..the sex alone, this isn't a debate on homosexuality.

Just dropping in to throw in my two cents.

Love and sex are two separate things, but when they come together, they unleash bliss incarnate. I can't even express, when the two entwine, how much energy, empowerment and passion two hearts exert on one another in the throes of physical ecstasy. I swear it sometimes makes you want to erupt tears of sheer joy. Sex can be great without love, but absolutely Earth-shattering with it.

Love can exist without sex (as shown by so many couples out there who either rarely have it or don't have it at all any more), and of course there's sex without love.

I started having sex when I was 18, but started being physically intimate around 15. I had a sort of awakening amid making out with someone I had an infatuation for.

Now there is a huge difference between being a slut and being one who shares themselves only with the occasional person. A slut will do anyone who comes his/her way without having any feeling in it, even enjoyment, while a person who happens to be sexually-active with the occasional person does not. You can be a slut for one person (in the sense of doing anything for them), but not a slut in the general definition.

I completely abhor when people classify a girl who's slept with a man or two as a slut or a whore, but consider a womanizing man who's slept with 50 women a regular guy. Enough with the double standards already.

You're saying that love and sex aren't related, then you said to stop completely and see how they stick around out of love, wouldn't that make them related? Sex comes with love, but love doesn't always come from sex.

EDIT: You two make an asorable couple I've seen on myspace.
