Read this before posting or reading forward: http://www.xeogaming.org/announcement.php
Alright, now that you've all read this, what are your thoughts on what Xeo should do? Here's my opinion... Stop doomsaying, please. Right now, almost everyone on the board has exams at school, a busy summer vacation, or something else that's going on, this REALLY isn't a good time to measure activity. Second, half the board still doesn't know that Xeogaming is back! PM the users that go to other boards, alter the links to Xeogaming on other websites, do general things like that. Third off, if you're tired of running Xeogaming, like you're saying, then I KNOW you won't have trouble finding someone else. As you said in the announcement, you've heard that a million times, but the fact is, it's true. Any of the admins I'm sure would be glad to take over, or any of the staff really. Seriously, worst case scenario, and I'LL take over Xeogaming, I even already know where I'd host it. Finally, Xeo, you've been posting announcements or threads like this since I first joined Xeogaming. Whenever there's a period of slow activity, which coincedentally is usally around the beginning of summer and winter, you post a thread in staff, or an announcement saying that Xeogaming is going to die. Are we dead yet? I think not. So, please, stop with all of this. I know you're feeling stressed out, but don't worry about it. We've chugged along quite a distance, and we'll keep going. Sure, it won't be super 5,000,000 posts a day, but it doesn't have to be. Xeogaming right now is a place where many friends talk to each other about a number of different things, and getting rid of it will do more than just hurt you, it will hurt all of the people on Xeogaming. On a side note, I'd like to say that you STILL get more activity than a few other message boards I've been on. There was one board where getting 10 posts a day was a HUGE accomplishment. So, stop saying that Xeogaming is dead. Anyway, that's all I have to say. Other people, post. And no one suggest a reboot, I've never seen a board do well after that. |

I (for once) agree with Vulkar completely. True, the board isn't active, or at least as active as it once was (Like the General Discussion's announcement of 1000+ posts on the 22nd June 06 or whatever it was) but it's great for what is a pretty large group of friends to just chat with each other.
I would be truly disappointed to see Xeogaming go through any of the mistakes boards go through, like a restart. Since it's about maybe 20 or so friends chatting about whatever comes up, restarting could further damage the already fragile situation. Stay positive, keep messaging people, try to advertise the forum a bit more... And I say this to everyone else too, try to get some more friends to join. |

I'm open to corrections, but here's my two cents. ~_^
Xeo, the "doomsday" comment Vulkar made is right...usually. Maybe its because I was here when MoD was freaking GINORMOUS, but have you guys ever noticed that Xeo has done the "doomsday" speech several times? And if you think about it, WHEN he makes it, he has legitimate points, and then has to make it again. Now, this is the final exam time of year, so yeah, I can most definitely see why this board isn't so active, now, but will this change come summertime? I really don't think so. I mean, I'm not doubting the board. I just wouldn't be suprised either way. I lurk here. Quite often actually. I've been deterred from posting. **shrugs** What I liked about MoD soooo much better than I like about the board now (funny, four years ago today MoD was hacked, on my 16th Birthday. Haha) was that everyone was friends. Dude. Sparda is the man. Not because of his SIM battling reputation, and crapola like that. I used to talk to him. A lot. He's a cool guy. I was like 15 and like worshiped the ground Elara, Rogue walked on. Leon and Benja (you guys gotta admit, its not the same without them either) are awesome. I became good friends with Kaijin and Evo. Xeo was like the untouchable master that I rarely had the opportunity to talk to. Teehee. There were a lot of other people I started getting close to as well, but they're like my age, so I'm pretty sure I know what happened there(the jist of it at least.) Anywho...I'm going to make this quick because I have an interview to go to in a half hour.... Everyone posted and everyone read one another's posts. Everyone responded to what others said. Sometimes, I feel like the thread killer. It's like when I post, the thread dies. And a crapload of times I would say something, and then someone else would, not long after, say the same thing I said as though my input wasn't even there. And I notice I'm not the only one it happens to. Grant it, I don't post a lot lately, but that was really the reason why. There's nothing new, and my input was ignored anyways. But again, mine wasn't the only one either... Before we start thinking we need more members, let's just focus on having fun with the ones we have again. |

Check out the old banner you posted, Xeo.
Isn't that Dante? Now it always makes me think of Sparda. I'd only started playing the Devil May Cry games after I came here. You've also got Vash the Stampede there. Heh, I remember when you used to have him as your layout, even in the days of Vizzed. For some reason whenever you posted, I imagined Vash was saying whatever I read. But wait! What's that it says just under Vash? "Post for fun!" WHOA!!! What a concept, man. Blows any philosophy I ever had right out of the water. I mean, all this time any of us who posted were just doing it for the post counts, the e-fame, the infinite number of virgins we were promised in the afterlife (not for me thanks, that's just an eternity of bad sex right there. Gotta change the sheets every morning. Neverending streams of premature... anyway...), and of course the almighty dollar. What was that, Xeo? We weren't paid? You gotta be kidding me! I had to have been paid, otherwise why would I have stayed here for 5 or so years?! Hey, shut up, I'm not a loser! I've got prospects!! I... I... well, I can move out of my parents house any ol' time I want. Gee, I guess it was for the people all this time. You know, that community feeling. The few of us who've stuck together and been there for one another through the years. Cause geez, I can't count the number of family and pet deaths, contemplated suicides, possibly fatal illnesses, military hopefuls, tales of love lost and revenge, cases of ultimate depression, high school and college graduates who suddenly feel lost or intimidated of the "real world," and those who've stuck by them even just to wish them well, we've had come through here. Not to mention the friends we've made, the births, the relationships discovered, the phone calls and letter mailed, the late night AIM chats, the endless love and advice that's passed between board members, the laughter, the tears, the memories that'll last for years, and all following a fearless leader who doesn't treat us like fodder for the ad-money. So going back to that banner. It evokes a lot of great memories, but the one we've got now brings in a lot of pleasant new ones, with plenty of room to make more. OK, so the new one doesn't say anything about posting for fun. Has that changed? Has the dawn of Xeogaming meant we aren't posting for the sheer joy of it any longer? P.S. You've got me during finals week right now. If I get a passing grade on my final, I can finally get out of LBCC and MOVE THE FUCK ON to university. Just sayin'. |

Very good post Rogue, I approve strongly.
Anyway, also on what you said about the staff forum not getting much posts recently, Xeo, that's a GOOD thing. Lookat all the threads. How amyn of them are about super genius awesome ideas? I can count one or two recently, and less recently, there are even less happy posts. In other words, we post in the staff forum when bad things are happening, and there's not much need of it when good things are happening unless there are contests, sprees, awards, or whatever else. So yeah, don't complain about that, no staff has hugely active staff forums. Anything we usually say, we say in general (Last edited by Rakluv on 05-14-08 11:32 AM) |

Xeo.... stop moping! jeez. We're supposed to be here to have fun. Sure, I don't post a lot, but I do like everyone here! It would be sad if this just ended and I never heard from anyone (seeing as how I'm never on any messengers...). It's really hard to find an online community like this one. If it closed, I don't know WHAT I would do. So please, remain sane, and cheer up. <3 | |||

Originally posted by Rakluv I can shorten this further: Quit Xeogredding. Seriously. There aren't many people here, true. And activity leaves a bit to be desired. But, look at the good aspects: 1. There's almost no troublemakers here. The last post in Abuse was over two months ago. 2. Though there aren't many people, it's mostly a lack of newbies, not that old members are leaving (some still likely don't know about the new URL, but very few talk to me in AIM, so I can't help much there) 3. Like Vulkar said, almost no staff forum threads are good things. I've tried to rectify that with a few suggestions, but it's still overwhelmingly used for bad things. That is their nature, and when they're empty, that's a good thing. |

Yeah, I'm with the vast (essentially absolute) majority here when I say the board shouldn't go down.
This forum is a damn home to some of us. Sure, we might not attract a vast sum of new members, but we're a tight knit group. I know every active poster fairy well, some a lot more than others. I'd count several here as close friends. Xeo, we're basically a close group of friends that all met on a forum and kept the forum around because we like each other so much. We're loyal to you and to each other, and that's not really something you normally see on the internet. I trust all of you enough I'd drive out around the country to meet you all in person. I love this board and you guys. Losing it would be like watching a piece of my life kind of drift away. |

Everyone's already said it, so there's really no need for me to repeat it.
Fact of the matter is, we do what we can, and we do it pretty well given the size of our community and the time we have on our hands. That, already, is pretty amazing. |

Yeah, I speak from experience that complaining about board activity is usually not the best to go. However, I do believe that by saying something about the board, it means you care about it. * shrugs * I also agree that restarting the board is usually not the best thing to do either. A few months ago, I restarted NFF and only managed to accumulate 73 posts so far. But -- luckily I still have the old board, so pulling that up should be no problem.
I can understand though where you're coming from Xeo. As is the case with NFF, little by little people were starting to leave and to be honest I didn't want them to go, so ultimately I complained about activity when it went down. So I think that made it worse. Losing contact with people you are used to seeing there was not a good thing. But I think I've been pretty good about not complaining about activity -- I don't think I even mentioned it once since the restart. Back in 2004 when NFF started, it did 12,000 posts in 9 months. I think after I restarted it in December 2004 to upgrade to 1.92 was when things started going. I don't regret THAT restart. I'm starting to regret this one though. In short, I think if the members are okay with the way things are going, there's no reason to bring it up. Besides, don't close the board, you're about 3,800 posts away from 100,000 -- that's got to be good right? (Last edited by VGFreak877 on 05-14-08 09:44 PM) |

I can not believe I have not read a single post about the King of all posters. Me.
Sure I have done alot of really, REALLY bad things in the past, but this board helped me become who I am today. I have grown up alot thanks to you guys, made some mistakes, and hell, even recently I have done some really stupid things. I admit, but you know what? Who does not learn from those mistakes? I remember back in the MoD stages, I was young, closed-minded, and pretty ignorant. Remember a thread I made years back about me dissing on Wiccans? ELara and I think Thex straightened me out real quick on that subject, and I learned a very important factor in this board. Respect. Remember that long trolling period that I have done with True and I breaking up? We currently talk to each other now, and have hung out countless times. I needed a good ass kicking from you guys, and that is really one of the main reasons I stayed here many times. Because I really have alot of things I need to learn. I diddnt come here to be popular at all, I just wanted to meet people, and sure I made that whole drama about how I rarely ever talk to anyone here on the board, and sure I have butted heads with just about everyone, but think of the good times. Posting aside, there were definitely some moments (Without me) where some of you actually had a blast talking to people here. Sure one moment I say that im quitting, and the next I am acting like nothing ever happened. I cant really explain how I am with this subject, but I guess I am more sensitive than others. We all have that little button inside of us that can be easily pushed. It is just more noticeable with me. I tried joining ACMLM and JUL, but it was alot like the SA forums. Too many inside jokes, and assholes there who think they are funny by ridiculing people. Cept you can join it for free. Xeogaming to me was a very excellent community, and just had its bad share of waves at the wrong time I guess. Sure alot of people have work and school, myself included, and I will just pop in from time to time to see how this place is doing. Granted I agree with alot of you out there that Xeo needs to quit moping, and to keep this board, but I am going to have to say something a little different. Xeo, to be honest, maybe that is what this board needs. A Burial Ground. Nagis, are you crazy? No, but think about it, do you guys really need a board to keep in contact with each other? You have your memories people. Just let this board rest in peace, and move on with out lives. Granted, I will miss having an awesome layout unlike some message boards, but it is really up to xeo to decide on paying money out of his own pocket to keep this place. Sure the activity has dummed down, but you should either let this place die, or die trying to keep this place alive. Plus, the only person who talks to me is Thor / Clockworkz. Am I booring? You bastards. |

It's not time. It's not time, and you know that, Xeo. When the real time comes, you'll feel it in your gut. I love you all, don't ever change, and please don't euthanize the board, Xeo!
