This is one topic I've been arguing for a while, especially with how much I hate hearing blogging bitch about digital books online.
When Neil Gaiman had his published post his bestselling novel "American Gods" online so people could temporarily read it for free, Boing Boing blogger Corey Doctorow wouldn't shut up about how hard it was to use. My thoroughly ignored response was, "We have these things called libraries, you know, where you can read all sorts of books and publications for FREE!!" Anyway, this just about caps my disappointment in the world: more funny fail pictures at FAIL Blog This also goes right along with the fact that people have forgotten that we have public transportation. |

Originally posted by Rogue If only I could forget about that one...**shudders** Funny I see this posted here...I didn't see the whole report on the news, but there was a headline "Sign of the times." and something about liberty I thought...**shrugs** I was just passing by and saw it outta the corner of my eye...but...yah... I do agree. No one knows how to use a library anymore...or any skills pertaining to that sort of thing. At work...while I will admit to using the computer to look up quantity from time to time...I also work in an extremely busy store. But most of my co-workers, when we aren't crowded at all, want me to type in my password thingie so they can look up quantity. Funny thing is, especially for them, it takes them longer to go through all that than it does to open a drawer that's alphabatized, mind you, and see for themselves if we have a game. **shrugs** Same thing with customers. And I'm not talking the ones that are just plain lazy and won't look for a damned thing themselves...it's the ones who I see looking around, and they eventually give up and ask one of us for help. I keep my store immaculate most of the time, despite how busy we are, so there's no reason why they can't find things because they're out of order...they just...don't know how to... |

Li ... brary? Go back to France, you crazys!
Internet all the way, baby. Our school library is primarily used by people in spare blocks/etc to work on stuff and study. Though there are still plenty of books being taken out to be read. For leisure purposes, of course. Who uses books for information these days? It's all about that fandangled "Wikipedia" and "Jim Joe Johnson's Tripod Site About World War Two". |

Originally posted by Paritishion I hate school libraries... Instead, I use the public city libraries, which usually have any book I want to read. I don't really even buy books that much nowdays, I just use libraries. On a side note, Rogue, thanks to that picture, Failblog just became my favorite website ever. Thank you. |

The mention of people forgetting what public trans is was just another thing that was nagging in the back of my head.
L.A. and the surrounding areas have a pretty dense transit system with buses going practically anywhere you need to go. Since we're sort of on a gas crisis right now (it's almost at $4.50/gallon here), some people are making comments about "Wouldn't it be nice if we could to --some non-descript point-- tomorrow without driving?" Sometimes I have to stifle myself from shouting, "Dude, just take the Blue Line. It's right off it's route!!" Anyway... Found the message board and thread that was originally posted on: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=648654 Glad you like it, Vulkar. |

Hmm...
I'd sadly going to have to rain on your parade, I looked through the rest of the thread for that post, and apparently it was all set up as a joke. Of course, if I had made a mistake that stupid, I'd trying to turn it into a joke too. |
