Hmm... not sure how to answer this one. Because there's the meaningless fights we have that last at worst half an hour or so and go forgotten and that's about it when it comes to fights. We fight all the time, but it's more old married couple bickering.
There was a time when I was caretaking for my grandmother and Brandon was unemployed and I would get upset with him almost on an every-other-day basis about money since I was footing the bill a lot and mad that I was stuck at home with my grandmother while he could be working. I once broke into screaming tears because he didn't pick which half of a sandwich he wanted fast enough. Those days are behind us. The closest we've ever come to breaking up, though, was back in 2009 when we had a fight that resulted in him saying he questioned whether or not he loved me. Later that night he said he regretted saying that as he said he couldn't picture his life without me. I can't quite remember the aftermath, but it did rock my faith in our relationship for quite some time, and I kept thinking that maybe he was only with me for a place to stay or that he feared striking out on his own again after having only been in one relationship ever. Again, those days are long past and whenever I bring them up, he voices sincerely that he wishes he'd never said that because, he says, he never really meant it when he said he didn't love me and he doesn't know why he said it at all. That got a bit long-winded there. But... if the question is regarding worst fight I've EVER gotten into with any of my significant others, I've definitely had worse with previous boyfriends. I've been with some severely fucked up people in the past who've resorted to verbal and emotional abuse (and once physical). My worst relationship was with a guy named Steve. He was 30. I was 18. He frequently accused me of smiling at other guys, even when I was staring at the floor and not noticing anybody (this resulted in our worst fight, in which he called me names while we were sitting in a McDonald's and I went outside to cry, to which an employee came out to pray over me and tell me she would drive me home. When Steve came out to drag me to his car, they had their own altercation and I just went home with him. The details are hazy). Steve and I fought over my having friends. We fought over my seeing movies without him. We fought over EVERYTHING. He was an asshole, who was abused by his mother, and frankly the world would be better without him. Ugh... I write too much. Describe the best days of your life. (Yeah, not a question, but tell me about the days, however many you like, you could replay over and over again). (Last edited by Rogue on 07-01-14 01:45 PM) |

I think I remember when you left Steve... best decision you've ever made. Hands down.
My best days? Wow, that is actually kinda tough with my memory, lol. First party at your house when Pat brought that giant dungeon mat and we just played a giant D&D game amongst all the other stuff. I think that was the same one where he yelled "Lee, I'm drunk"... still the funniest thing ever. The bonfire where we got our hands on an old deck for wood and built a funeral pyre sized blaze. The Renfaire proposal day... despite how that all ended, it was amazing. My first year of Shipwreck (not a specific day, I know, but the whole thing just jumbles together... I guess the after party where I got MVM if I had to choose). Doc Shaun giving me a ride home and stopping on top of Signal Hill at night since I'd never seen the view before. Long Beach has never looked so cool than it does from up there. Seeing the King Tut exhibit with Venomouslobster and his family. My inner history nerd was insanely happy. The bowling team trip to Las Vegas. First time there without my parents, Ben and I had just started dating, and we were staying at the Hilton before they got rid of the Star Trek stuff... much fun ensued and I didn't even care that we lost. Going whale watching... all four times that I have been have been awesome days. I love being on the water. First Catalina Island trip... we didn't do a whole lot but it was fun to see this place that I had wanted to visit since I was a teenager. Second trip with my parents was also fun since my mother had never been on the ocean before and it was cool to see how much she loved it. Houseboating with Alex and Lindsey... after the chaos of the first day at least. Hiking along the east fork of the San Gabriel River. Watershoes are perhaps the greatest thing known to man. The day we went to the outdoor screen for the fourth game of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals while out visiting Pittsburgh. The excitement of the fans, seeing the city itself, and the feeling of being a part of it all combined with the joy of winning made it one of the best moments of the whole trip. The second flight out to visit Los Angeles where I got to see the Grand Canyon for the first time (yeah, I've never been there). Seeing it from the air is amazing. Ben's 30th birthday party and the look on his face when he got his gifts. It is hard to surprise him. Going to Ireland... again, more a good couple of weeks. I honestly think that going to Newgrange was one of the best days, as well as the last day where my roommate and I just went downtown and did touristy things like see the Kilmainham Gaol and the Dublinia exhibit. Wedding day... cheesy one, I know... but it was actually a really nice day despite being so hot. It was the first time our families had ever met and I had been so nervous, and they all got on very well. And the trip down to the wetlands for pictures made us really appreciate the temperature change. It was just a great day. I also got a laugh when the judge said we were the most well-prepared couple he'd ever dealt with (I brought my own pen just in case). Scuba diving. The whole day in St. Thomas was awesome, the place was so pretty... but actually being underwater like that was just beyond words. Sadly, walking back into Sam's Club the day before I went back to work and having everyone be so happy to see me. I know that some of it is just politeness, and I really want a better job that is not in retail... but at least I can say that I have some really great coworkers that actually like me. Ok... question..... So, of all the adventures you have done and cool new things you've found, what is perhaps the coolest thing out of them all that you would do/try again in a heartbeat? I was about to say this one was difficult until I got a flash of this memory and then I knew there really was only one answer:
Sailing the Mediterranean. While I still would like to travel to other countries, if it was a choice between say finally visiting Japan or some other exotic locale I haven't been yet and floating around off the coast of Greece, I'd jump on the latter. I'm dying to venture into the Adriatic and visit Venice and, most particularly, Croatia. Brandon's dad's side of the family are Croats, the pictures I've seen of it are GORGEOUS, it gets fewer tourists than Greece and Italy, and it's the shooting location "Game of Thrones" (King's Landing, Pentos, etc). I'd also like to actually spend time in Italy, at that, since I really only sailed to it and then was taken to the airport to fly home, by way of Germany. What allergy are you thankful you don't have? (Last edited by Rogue on 07-02-14 03:07 AM) |

Hmn... an allergy to penicillin or a more severe wheat allergy (I have a mild one apparently).
Honestly, I think that an allergy to the most common type of antibiotic would be horrible. I have had enough cases of bronchitis and strep throat to know how much it has helped me over the years. For the record, I also want to go to the Mediterranean. What is it about your favorite season that makes it your favorite? |

Autumn is my favorite, mostly for the fact that the weather usually turns cooler, but it's also the time of a few of my favorite holidays (Dia de los Muertos, Halloween, and Thanksgiving) and it's apple picking season, which means getting cider, apple cider donuts, and caramel-covered apple dumplings while under the trees with flame-colored leaves.
My very-close-second favorite would be spring for the similarly mild weather, renaissance faire season for the American Southwest, and that the farmers market is full of robust fruits that you have to wait the rest of the year for. What are five things that make you happy? |

We are of a similar mind, my friend. If you ever get the chance to come out and visit, I need to introduce you to Amish donuts.
Let us see... five things that make me happy? In no particular order: 1) Snuggles (I'm a touchy feely person, what can I say?) 2) Watching summer thunderstorms (lightning!) 3) Bonfires (fire + friends = awesome) 4) Being on boats (I like being on the water) 5) The first sip of a really good beer I am a woman of simple pleasures, lol. A question that has divided people for generations... what is your preferred type of pasta sauce? |

Pesto.
The one true sauce. Creamy pesto is also happily accepted. What's your favorite cryptid? (Last edited by Rogue on 07-07-14 12:19 PM) |

My favorite cryptid... hmn... honestly, that is a hard choice but I guess I would go with the Thunderbird. I just think the idea of them is awesome.
Do you have a preferred type of cereal? |

I've been eating this high fiber stuff from Trader Joe's and dumping a load of cinnamon on it. But only when we have the cash to get it.
While in Washington I came to love making a bowl of half regular Cheerios and half Honey Nut. Brought back happy memories of having Trader Joe's honey O's at my friend, Katie's, apartment and pouring the used cereal milk into my Mighty Leaf vanilla black tea. What movies could you swear you've seen at least 100 times each? |

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory... I watched it repeatedly as a kid. I honestly think it is the only movie I have seen nearly that many times.
What exactly IS high tea anyway? |
|||
Rogue If you're reading this... You are the Resistance Since: 08-17-04 Since last post: 588 days Last activity: 396 days |

It's essentially English afternoon tea with all the pomp and circumstance of scones with clotted cream and lemon curd, cucumber sandwiches, tiny cakes, and other little bites (often arranged on tiered plates) along with your pot of tea. It's really just people getting to pretend at being fancy, calling it "high," and at $35 a person.
The last one I went to, in Vegas, put gold leaf on the hazelnut desserts. I don't know why that's become such a thing now, but I keep seeing that in hoity-toity bakeries in L.A. Anyway, I just thought it would be a funny contrast, going to afternoon tea in the Mandarin Oriental, against the other things we did on the trip like go shooting, drinking, and to seedy strip clubs. When Brandon and I went to "high tea" while on the cruise, we were surrounded by older women who kept putting on airs about how they do high tea daily and then sniped at the serving men for not bringing out the cucumber sandwiches first or bringing them cupcakes. What's the most depressing love story you know? |

Probably the entirety of the plot for Clannad and Clannad Afterstory... it made Ben cry (you know, Mr. Vulcan) and I was bawling!
... and I totally want to do a high tea one of these days. Favorite kind of taco? Soft or soft, corn of flour, etc? |

Hm, I'm actually not that into tacos. Shocking, I know. But if I were to make one with all my preferences it'd be with flavorful carnitas on a fresh made FLOUR tortilla with cilantro and onions. Cream sauce optional.

I would probably have to say my first week of student teaching... getting used to the demands, the lack of sleep... it was really stressful.
If you could have one type of fruit for a week as your only food source, what would it be? |

Peaches. Or nectarines. But most particularly if they all have a crunch. No mushy stone fruits for me.
If I could have a week in June where I could eat nothing but honey blazed nectarines I'd be so freaking happy. Ooooh, and grilling them. My god, next June can't come fast enough. I don't care if I'll be 30 when that comes around again. What's your favorite song from a movie? |

Good lord, I hope not. I have so many thank you notes to write that I'm lousy at sending. Well, I tend to send the ones that NEED to be sent ASAP right away, but otherwise I'm downright pathetic when it comes to mailing out the notes.
Have you ever had a book that you hated as you read it, but came to appreciate it years down the line? |

Yes, it was a book on the impact of the novel Ramona on California history. Really annoying at the time, and I see the name everywhere now... but I do appreciate it now because it did open my eyes to things I was not aware of before.
Have you ever seen a tornado in person? If not, would you want to? |

I have not seen one, but yes, I do want to see it in person, along with a volcano erupting (sailing past Stromboli doesn't really count).
Not sure if I'd want to see those things are the same time, though. What's the strangest thing you've ever eaten (be it exotic animals, unusual ingredient combinations, etc)? (Last edited by Rogue on 07-09-14 12:53 PM) |
