Winning?

So yeah, good news is it looks like I am good to go on insurance. Still need to actually update my info, though.

Next week I am going on a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas with Ben and Kaleb. It is the later's first time flying or being on a cruise ship so I am of course being the best of friends by poking fun at him for freaking out. I have also prepared myself in case he has an anxiety attack so I can help keep him grounded because I actually am a good friend.

And, of course, it is officially holiday season in retail... so there are no words to explain just how much I am looking forward to this vacation.

How was the trip? I saw you already had pictures up.

I finished the program in under the week I asked for and they got it printed in under the week they said the printer was definitely going to need. I don't have to do the pocket program, so I'm completely FREEEEEE!

Been working a lot lately at Costco. And I got a full time offer from Quest Diagnostics that worked out so I'm excited for that too. I'm going to try and keep Costco while I can, so I might be working 7 days a week or something for awhile through December...

I have had such a bizarre fucking year.

Grandmother's passing. First car accident. First time getting my identity stolen. Mom's friend commits suicide. Would-be co-worker I saw a few times commits suicide. Witnessed a suicide. All three involved people jumping from high places.

European trip alone with the boyfriend for two and half weeks on a whim. Underwent A LOT of medical tests which included an EKG on my birthday, blood work, hearing test, eye exam, several visits to urgent care, and an MRI.

Served on a jury for the first time. We convicted the guy. Shitloads of crazy to be had at work. The woman behind the center left a severed rat head and guts on the center's back porch and then threw rotten oranges on our vans. Tons of client drama, not the least of which has been witnessing a molestation. Had a cold six or seven times.

And today fell down the stairs and then just went, "Ah fuck it, I can't use the PPL right now," and went to work.

I've been hit with quite the dose of Life.

Hope all is going well for everyone else.

One of my friends got fired from work last week, along with another activities coordinator who actually only got promoted to AC from DSP the week before. Another AC quit earlier this week and one just started her leave of absence to have surgery. A DSP broke her arm and has been forcibly put on leave and an AC, who's quite the drama queen, tripped on the driveway while spotting a van and took a week off.

We've been VERY understaffed lately. We already had two DSP slots open that we're hiring for, now we're out 5 people, not counting the ones on leave or absent for one reason or another.

Shit, I have so much paperwork to do.

You must really have a high tolerance for stress? It doesn't sound like you ever catch a break Rogue.

Not sure if I've really been busy myself, just working and paying off those bills! I'm still at Quest Diagnostics and liking it a lot. Still a temp though. They recently let go of a lot of temps which is scary, but kept me on. I'm reaching the breaking point I believe where I might go permanent or not, crossing my fingers and hoping for the best! Life is pretty good beyond that.

I suppose I do.

Worked a convention this weekend. We ducked out a little early on the last day since it was Brandon's birthday and fuck working on a weekend for free when you can be doing better shit elsewhere.

This is probably going to be my last year working this con. It moved from L.A. to Ontario and it just seems like they keep treating Brandon like shit when he works tech, which they completely overhauled for the worse this year.

Just took a much-needed mini vacation up to the redwoods, staying in the beautiful, New England-looking town of Mendocino. Came back to work yesterday feeling a little more recharged.

And woo, "Game of Thrones" is back this weekend.

In news I'm happy about, but still a bit apprehensive about, Brandon's mom is coming for a visit and his aunt wants to take us all out for dinner supposedly in honor of our engagement. Glad to see Linda (Bran's mom), not so much Michelle (aunt).

Is that the one that got all bitchy on Facebook? Don't let her get to you.

So yeah... still need to finish the moving process. Going to the old apartment today after Kaleb gets off work so we can finish cleaning up there... I get to throw a loveseat off a third story deck! Good times! We have been trying to get over there to clean and stuff, but work schedules just don't align lately... and we have to be 100% out by the 30th.

Also need to get my stuff from Ben's house... again, scheduling. It's two book cases and like 20 boxes. Not a huge deal... but heavy when you have to haul them up 4 flights of stairs.

Yeah, that would be her. Thankfully, she copped out saying she couldn't find a babysitter, but was posting video on Facebook later, showing her with her daughter at another restaurant.

She was also the one who whenever we'd end up having breakfast with her when family was in town would "playfully" harass Bran and me about getting married. Cannot express how much I hate that shit, especially when "family" were doing that at Lola's funeral last year.

Totally forgot there's supposed to be a picnic today. Fuck.. need to go get something to bring.

Otherwise Bran and I are going to a play tonight, an unofficial sequel to "Much Ado About Nothing," called "The Devil's Bride."

So many of my friends are going through absurd amounts of depression, at the moment. I'm not saying it's made-up shit, it's just that the bad luck's really going around right now. One friend lost her job and her fiance's in rehab, another's going through some insane medical stuff and the doctors won't tell her what it is, but they just did a bunch of expensive tests she can barely afford the co-pays on. And it turns out Bran's sister is going to seek a separation, pending that she's OK'd for an apartment covered by the government for her and her kids. There's A LOT of bad juju in the air.

I'll say... wow.

Things here a bit hectic. The move, taxes, and sick cats did a number on Kaleb's finances so I have had to cover a bit more, but I don't mind... ya know, since it is nothing like what I had to deal with while living with Ben and dropping over $600/month on bills and food. Selling my old car was a major windfall for me, though, I have to admit. Divorce lawyers aren't cheap, after all.

I got the official complain done and signed. Now we are at the mandatory 90 day "cooling off" period that Pennsylvania requires for non-contested divorces. Freedom is so close, yet so far.

I had to deal with Google Fiber doing a mandatory installation here throughout the complex over the last TWO WEEKS, and I'm not even going to use the service. Now I've become accustomed to some of this stuff that comes with apartment life like pest control doing their minute walk through every quarter, but this was insane. Not only did Google Fiber need frequent access to the place, but... to my room too because the attic access is in my master closet. So they popped in one day and it was an entire gang of five guys who invaded the place and I just left. I come home to see my dresser, hamper, and tons of other stuff in my closet completely moved and thrown out into my room (when I thought surely they had enough room to get up there). Previously I called twice to get a time frame on the whole process and the staff clearly had no idea what they were doing, from 30 minutes to an hour, turned into two damn weeks. Flyer after flyer posted on our door that they didn't get done in time. Then, we cleared out the wall in the living room that the diagram showed they needed to have access to and have space for, so that was all fine and dandy... except I come home one day and see the entire living room furniture pushed towards the middle, everything that wasn't on that specified wall.

Did they put a single thing back? Nah, and tracked fuzzballs throughout the entire place.

Can't believe I put up with this crap. Should have been a free month or half off for that garbage. It's one thing to be in and out of my place invading my privacy, but then you move my stuff and don't put anything back. Ugh.

I don't think it was the apartment staff as I overheard them having disagreements with how Google wanted to do things, but sheesh. I don't care who it was, that was stupid.

Wow, that is some bullshit right there. I am sorry you had to deal with it. Not gonna lie though, I am totally jealous that you even have access to Google Fiber now.

Meanwhile Verizon FiOs is shedding off things like cable, which is now being provided by Frontier, for us. On Demand is absolute crap now.

I've been booked up for every weekend going through mid-June.

This weekend I worked another convention. Stitch had bought me a badge going, "I need you to run the info desk." While there we all discovered a friend of ours, who used to do cons with us before getting immensely sick, had passed away this morning. It's been a very draining weekend.

Next weekend is my aunt's memorial and family reunion.

The weekend after that I'm up in Sacramento for a family get-together and my cousin's daughter's graduation.

That'd make me crazy. I gotta have my downtime weekend every once and awhile haha. Been getting out and hanging out way more this year though and have rekinded some friendships in my expanding web of connections.

I haven't had the joys of sleeping in in quite a long time. I haven't had a veg day in months.

I actually enjoy keeping busy, but at the same time I'd love a day where I haven't gotten anything planned, there's nothing big going on, and I can just go, "Ah hell, I'll just wander the Huntington just for fun."

I hear you, though, on reconnecting with people. Bran and I are finally calling people up and going, "Hey, you busy? Wanna hang out today?"

My alarm this morning was set for 7, which was supposed to be sleeping in, but I woke up at 6, my usual wake-up time and couldn't fall back asleep.

Really looking forward to the long weekend, despite the fact that I probably won't get much rest. I just need the away time from work.
