I used to be SUCH a night owl. Especially back in high school. Had to be up 5:30am every morning, and wouldn't go to bed 'til like 2 or 3 sometimes, on a school night. If it wasn't a school night, I would seriously stay up....shit...all night 'til like 8 or 9am. And it was weird, I didn't need much sleep then either. They say teenagers need a lot of sleep. For me, it was like somr sort of biological clock. I couldn't at one time, unless I was sick or someting, sleep more than 6 hours at a time. But then I could go almost 20 hours between each 6 (would go more half the time, but about 20 was the limit that left me unscathed.)

Then I hit my 20's and I can sleep for up to 12 hours at a time, and I'm beat as hell by the end of the next 12 hours still. It's so weird. Doesn't mean I always sleep 12 hours, and doesn't mean I always go to bed after 12 hours of being awake. It's just that I'm usually tired after being awake 12 hours. I guess it's because I'm doing more now though. Who the hell knows. School is very competitive now, and work is...well, yeah, it's only GameStop, but it's VERY busy, and VERY stressful. Especially Sundays. They're pressuring us more with sales, plus, I think any retail job can be stressful. I'm a manager too, so I'm responsible for most of the things that occur in the multi-million dollar store that I help run. Plus, they say sluggishness is a symptom of an ity bity health issue I have, and don't have the medical insurance to get the help that I need, besides the bare minimum.

So, it's not like I'm the busiest person. I dare say Rogue has on of the most interesting lives I have ever seen. But...I dunno. I just feel like I can't make it past 11:00 at night anymore, and when I do, I'm usually laying down still, be it playing video games or watching a movie, or on the laptop, or something. And then, on my own, I'm up early! Like today, passed out at 12, and was up at 8. And wasn't sluggish at 8, was up and ready to go. Been like that for the past year or so...still haven't decided if I like this "new me" or not. Haha.

So, how about you guys? Not gonna lie, I'm seeing most of the posts here while I'm awake, rather than seeing a billion new posts the next morning. So I take it lots of you guys aren't up here too late anymore either?

To be honest if you ask me, I think oversleeping (potentially your 12 hours of sleep a night) is a lot worse than undersleeping. At least that's how I feel it works out for me. On days that I have nothing to do and end up sleeping in to whenever, getting probably ~10 hours of sleep, I usually end up being restless and lazy that entire day. But when I have a great lack of sleep for a day, it feels like I can end up doing more those days regardless.

This worked out a lot like this during high school. Like you, I'm more than positive my average night was 6 hours or slow throughout all of high school (and probably junior high), yet I was going to school just fine for 8 hours a day, would work afterwards every few days, and keep going.

That's me at least.

Now the real issue is that I have major insomnia, more than likely get that from my mom. On average it probably takes an hour to fall asleep every night minimum (this is when I'm purely laying in bed), but it's often a lot worse. Sadly I think it's a chronic case though I do know it can fluctuate a lot depending on my schedules and how busy I'm keeping myself. Like last year when I worked a tiresome full time job, I was getting to bed quite a bit easier during those times probably since I was always so tired from the work... (but of course that's the other issue, instead of the lack of sleep... work made me tired!)

My mom always tries to push sleeping supplements and pills on me, but I dunno. I've been on some meds here and there and don't mind taking some up, but when it comes to sleeping? The thought of taking any kind of pill to help me "shut off" just simple straight up scares me. It's incredibly weird but that's how I've always felt about it, so I never take anything and just suck it up I guess.

To actually answer the question though, lol, I am way more of a night owl. But this goes into another personal issue I've developed over the last few years... I have this weird mindset, that sleeping = waste of time. Nowadays I often just don't even "feel" like going to bed even if I'm tired and 99% of the time I'm not even doing anything important. I don't know how I got into this kind of thinking and I honestly do LOVE literally being asleep and resting up, but actually getting to do it and hop in bed thesedays is sometimes a challenge itself...

In the end, I'll be real busy this summer so hopefully this won't be as big of a deal for the next few months.

Ironically enough I only got a few hours of sleep last night...

I seem to vary a lot. Usually I am more of a night owl, but it seems to be tied to what I am doing. If it is mentally engaging then I am up until 3 or 4am sometimes. However if it is dragging like some of my groups gaming sessions have been lately then I start to nod off around 11pm. On top of that is work... not hard work, but very stressful work (yay government jobs). On days that I need to open at the beach, I am up at 3:30am, usually bright eyed... though by 7am I am tired. I blame the sun. Sun = tired. Also doesn't help that on those days I am normally up nearly 24 hours. Meh.

I'm definitely 100% a night owl. I can usually sleep fine during the day but have crazy insomnia at nighttime, it sucks now that my shift at work is now all during the morning...

I can't sleep past 8 a.m. on most days and in the last year I've been falling asleep around 3 or 4 a.m.

I think I'm broken.

I don't know, really. I just can't oversleep and my body acts like it gets enough although my head is really weird (dizzy at random times, etc).

Definetly a night owl. I mean, I try to get sleep, but like others on this board, I suffer from insomnia. Im supposed to get at least eight hours of sleep because of medication (medical problems. bleh), but i never do. School just sucks. I am nearly always tired, although I cant fall asleep in class. I just kind of sit there thinking about how nice sleep would be. Or daydreaming. Ugh.

I'm bout 50-50. Last semester, on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thrusdays, I was always up before eight, and in bed early the night before, but then on all the other days, I'm in bed more like around 3, and sleep in until around 11.

So yeah, neither of those are extreme either way, but I pretty much function perfectly on 8 hours of sleep , with more or less than that making me feel exhausted the whole next day.

Well, truthfully, I agree with Xeo about sleeping too much. I fell into that pattern once when I was sick, but I was sick, so I didn't care. But then I realized I was still able to sleep 12 hours, and it took me months to even get to where I am now.

For example, I have no work today, I had to pull an allnigher, due to slipping on someone else's spilled beer at my uncle's bar during the game Saturday. I wasn't even the one drinking! Yet I was the one going to the ER with a dislocated knee. Then I had to be in work by 10am, but didn't get outta the ER 'til 5-something AM. So, I had been up since 10am Saturday morning, and didn't go to bed until about 2am last night/this morning. And, to tell you the truth, I had my random bouts with being exhausted, but I worked about 10 hours (yes, I went into work. But that's what happens when you get hurt for something stupid, have no health insurance, but go to the ER anyway, so now you have a nice big bill, but it's STILL better than the amount of money you would have lost from missing work because you didn't go get a mild dislocation straightened out.) But, I wasn't even truly sleepy until about the time I went to bed. I can DO that, function more than 12 hours, I've pretty much got that straightened out, but now, it's like, I still sleep about 10 hours on my own. Went to bed by 2, and was up at 10 this morning (Been my time of day when I get up on my own, no matter WHEN I go to bed.)

Oh, and I don't have trouble sleeping anymore. Did when I was a teenager, now I'm like "What? Bed?" and within 5 minutes am out cold.

Ouch! I hope your knee's okay.

And aren't you lucky. I wish I was able to just fall asleep. I can function without it, but I would really rather not. I dont remember the last time I had a full nights sleep. I miss that rejuvenated feeling after waking up.

I was a morning person until around my senior year of high school... now I'm kind of a night owl.
