I keep running out of memory space on my computer. I currently have a 160GB harddrive and I'm looking to upgrade. I was looking at a 1TB Western Digital internal drive for 85 bucks, but I heard they crash easily. Does anyone know of a good harddrive to buy? I'm looking for an internal 1TB to 2TB one between $80-$120.

I dunno, I hear internal WD's are pretty safe. My "backup" thread is all about an external 500GB WD that crapped out on me though...
Seagate or Maxter are probably your other good options, but yeah, I'm pretty sure WD are pretty okay when it comes to internal drives. You should be able to find some 2 TB ones for probably around $120. (Last edited by Xeu on 06-25-10 12:30 AM) |

I looked into Maxtor drives and found out they merged with Seagate and I couldn't find any at my local Best Buy. I'm probably going to get a 1TB Seagate since it's only $5 more than the WD, it's more reliable, and it comes with all cords to install and don't have to buy them separately. Dude that should be ALL HDD packages... I would hope (they should be ready out of the box).

Just don't mix it up with SATA and IDE

Yeah, SATA are the smaller cables and for the most part the newer stuff. If all else fails there you can get some converters though, but it's probably not pretty. Haha.

When I bought my CD drive it didn't come with both SATA cables needed it only came with one and that's the same deal with the WD. I'll probably still get the Seagate. Just seems better.

Kind of a bump.
I just ordered a 1.5 TB Seagate. I can't wait to put that badboy in! Then I won't have to uninstall something from Steam every couple of days, hehe. |
