There's a bit of humour in it probably not really suited to adults too much, so I get the feeling it isn't aimed at a more mature audience anymore (I'm 13, 14 in next month - and have no right to say that), but more a teen audience. Compared to the first two which I love. |

Might be crazy to say, but I liked Pacific Rim more than Guardians of the Galaxy! Both were awesome back to back though.

Winter Soldier was pretty excellent, although I was sad that a ton of it was already spoiled for me, except for who the Winter Soldier was supposed to be, which... well...
Let's just say I didn't understand the significance until my wife told me, because I'd forgotten all about that one character. |

Going through the Batman's again.
Watching 89' and Returns back to back was amazing. I am way more familiar with 89', and this was maybe even just my third viewing of Returns, but wow. I'm not even sure which one I like more. The first is a classic and Nicholson was a lot cooler than I remembered, and it has aged amazingly well with the BD release (some model figure action aside haha). Returns had a thicker Burton atmosphere to it, whom I'm admittedly not huge on it, but this guy was so awesome with Batman. Both Penquin and Catwoman were a huge highlight and stole the show. I may just have to say I like both equally for their own strengths, and personally, I like these a lot more than the Nolan films. It's so easy to see how TAS pulls from these the most as well. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill ARE Batman and the Joker to me though. Now, I'm trying to give Forever another shot, and I seriously don't even know if I can finish this. The dialogue is utterly abysmal. I remember liking Batman & Robin as a KID, but I know it's probably even worse. I probably won't even bother. Val Kilmer and George Clooney were terrible choices. Jim Carrey seems to be the only good thing, but both him and Tommy Lee Jones feel like they're both trying too hard to mimic Jack Nicholson's Joker. |

Ahem.
"Holy rocks Batman!" "What?" "Holy rocks! The rocks have holes in them!" Yeah, that movie was a little painful, haha. My wife and I watched Batman Begins just a few days ago, and I think it's probably my favorite Batman. Like, I really liked '89 Batman, but I just felt like he was so much more of an intimidating yet human figure in Batman Begins. |

Yeah I'd say Begins is still probably my favorite of the Nolan films. |

Just came back from seeing The Martian. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit, even though it really did seem like Matt Damon in space. Also the first time I have seen Sean Bean in a film where he didn't die.

Originally posted by Elara Haven't seen "National Treasure" then, I'm guessing? Luck you. I haven't really gone to the movies much, but on my flight home they had lots of newer movies available to stream. "Mad Max: Fury Road" was of course the first thing I re-watched. After that I finally got around to watching "A Little Chaos," starring Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman. I'd been hearing lots of critics raving about it. It's the fictitious story of a woman who designs an outdoor ballroom for Louis XIV at Versailles. Not the greatest film, but enjoyable to an extent. |

Haven't seen "Star Wars," and probably won't until the hype dies down (which will probably be never.) Went to see the Henry Rollins movie that was released the same day, though.
It was only worth seeing for Henry Rollins and Steven Ogg, and all the best stuff was in the trailer. |

Just saw Star Wars... yeah, the hype is annoying as fuck, but it is a really good installment of the series.
Without spoilers, just totally saying I called one of the reveals. |

It was fantastic. I'll be seeing it again next week, but I felt like it was great, yet really dark as well. I'm just really pumped for where this story is going.

We all agreed that it felt more like the older trilogy. They even had some older haircuts to give it that feel. But yeah, it was just amazing. Also, I spotted Ireland in the movie instantly... though I couldn't place exactly which islands they were at the time. I guessed the Skelligs and was actually right.

I have the urge to see the new Star Wars movie weeks after it was released. Without any spoilers, it's kinda go backwards from The New Hope. Love the hype while in my 3D glasses.

Originally posted by Elara It's hard to put my finger on it. I guess because the first half was just to slow and second half didn't redeem it, like how the final scenes of "Death Proof" was beyond worth all the crappy chick dialogue. What's more it seemed like every time they dropped the N-word, most of the people in the theater (which was mostly Caucasian) would giggle or full-on laugh, like a line was suddenly comedy gold because of the usage (as though the viewers were going, "Holy shit, they said it AGAIN! This is awesome!") I was sitting around a number of African-Americans and none of them laughed and it just got more and more awkward. Now, the film takes place on the frontier during America's Reconstruction period. OF COURSE there's going to be shitloads of racism and North/South aggression and whatnot. I'm not trying to discount "authenticity," but it's all Tarantino's beloved use of racial slurs because he thinks he's edgy and ballsy for doing so, but it's-OK-because-he-has-black-friends-so-it's-all-good. Walton Goggins was pretty much the only thing I liked about "Hateful Eight." Frankly, to me, Tarantino's movies are only getting worse. He started strong with "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" and it's only gone downhill since "Kill Bill," give or take "Jackie Brown." I was not a fan of "Inglorious Basterds" or "Django Unchained," though there are parts out of them that I liked. |

Sadly that seems to be what I'm hearing about Hateful Eight as well, the pacing just isn't good.

"The Reverant" was great.
"Legend" (starring Tom Hardy^2, not the '80s Tom Cruise fantasy flick) was pretty damn good. And "The Devils" (1971) is probably one of the most fucked up movies I've seen in a while. |
