We FINALLY got some rain, but for one night. Now the week's looking at 100-degree temperatures in the fucking fall.

Good god, I live in such a miserable room. It's an upstairs room with no ventilation, so it's horrible in the summer. Usually it's the ideal place in the winter, but it's been absolutely freezing at night with the windows leaking in all the cold air. The rooms on the lower floor are actually warmer.

My curtains aren't helping for shit.

Have you tried putting plastic over the windows?

I haven't yet. What kind of plastic?

My room's been really freaking cold today.

I wish I knew haha. I've just seen some neighbors do it here in the past during winter. Guessing it kind of helps block out the cold... but yeah. Guess I'm not exactly sure how to do it and what exactly it takes.

My folks used to do that in winter for the detached room... it was that heavy plastic that is kinda opaque white. You cut it to size... a little bigger, and staple it outside along the edge of the window. You could probably do it inside instead to better keep in heat and not have neighbors complain. Downside is you can't really see out of the window.

We're getting lots of rain, and I'm loving it. Of course, it also means people drive worse than shit here. Suddenly they're cutting people off more and speeding and swerving everywhere. It's astonishing.

Other than that, I have no complaints. We needed the rain so bad and were it not for the fact that the sun comes out periodically and it gets hot, you'd think we were going through a monsoon.

Awesomely, Northern California's getting A LOT of it, which means we're going to be getting more clean water to the rest of the state.

It's 52 degrees and raining at 11pm in January.

What madness is this?! Please say it is staying!

I woke up this morning ahead of the alarm (not unusual) because the rain was so loud (not typical here in L.A. County)

Heh, it's like we're so used to it being completely sunny and hot here and then still getting extreme weather warnings on TV because Riverside and San Bernardino counties were getting thunder and lightning storms. Lucky bastards.

Despite tons of hype and a week long National Weather alert for the week building up a potential ice storm this weekend and my meteorologist uncle in Western Kansas saying this looks like the nastiest storm in a decade, and tons of emails at work for preparation and such... tomorrow I have to get up earlier to call in and see if my start time has been pushed back because of delayed shipments. The longer I have to wait and later I go in the more danger that obviously puts me in. Just heard about this a few hours ago today too, so gotta love that half a day heads up for schedule changes.

So absurd it's hilarious and annoying. Corporations just don't give two fucks.

My normal shift looked like it was going to barely duck out of the predicted bad window time. But now I have no idea.

It's been pouring all day.

Hope everyone else's winter is treating them well.

Everyone here in SoCal's either complacent about the rain, agreeing that we so desperately needed it, or complaining incessantly.

Hope the ice storm wasn't too bad for you in terms of safety, Xeo.

We've had about a week and a half stretch of rather nice weather. I've been in a light jacket the last two days... but there is snow forecast later in the week and I am just so not looking forward to it.

It was a false alarm. XD

That said, yeah our weather keeps bouncing around a lot lately too and is killing my allergies. I finally used my neti pot again today and it helped, but ugh. I feel so ultra stuffy, yet I can't really blow anything out or I'm not runny or whatever... it's a weird sensation that's super annoying. Just a ton of pressure in my face and pain around my eyes.

Eep, sorry, Elara. I sort of had that too. I didn't get fully sick, but my nose was completely stuffed and runny for a week.

The last couple nights have been freezing with the mornings being really cold and then the days getting fairly hot. I miss the rain already.

Today it was like January woke up and was like, "Oh... right... it's winter in Pennsylvania."

Ugh.

My allergies are also going nuts. Doesn't help that it is end of the year clean up at work, which means trying to slay dust bunnies the size of my head. My nose has been a faucet since yesterday.

It's been raining again, and I love it.

I don't, however, love having to put together schedules at work and then try to scramble to come up with replacement locations for activities to keep my clients out of the rain.

Pretty much my only complaint after the usual bitching about people driving worse and without headlights.

I finally bought a portable air conditioner. It's perhaps the greatest purchase I ever made.

I'm tired of coming home to a hot stuffy room and no air flow. What's more we just got new windows and these let in less air that the originals. Getting an A/C unit was inevitable.

Nuff said. If you are curious as to what is going on, feel free to PM me.

P.S. The county where I live in is where the river flows east to west on the Illinois side with part of a sideways 8 running through the county.

Rained all day yesterday and ruined my plans. I'm glad I didn't go to KC last night, I drove home from a friends tonight in lighter rain and my little Civic isn't too great on the slick road. The KC drive would have been worse and more dangerous.

It's chilly again.

I just want summer to be here!
