Chapter 1

"Bullshit." That was the only word that contiuosly ran through his mind. "Bullshit! This whole damn mission was bullshit!" It was dark. The solar body was blotted out by clouds of volcanic dust and smoke, and the only light came from the constantly erupting volcanos, and the lights from the Marines' suits. Sound filled the air. The sound of explosions, of death, of gunshots, and of the Zerg. One of his companions called out to him, "Henderson! Give it up! We were never meant to survive this mission!" Henderson, the marine whose mind was filled with bullshit only stared away from the trench which his back was facing. Survival had become his only driving force. The screams of the dog-like Zerglings echoed through the darkness, and penetrated his ears. Instinct kicked in, and he ran town the trench, away from the screeching as far as he could get. Stopping inside the crevace, he turned around to see the red, gleaming eyes. Automatically, without thinking, he squeezed the trigger of his Gauss Rifle, and tried as he could to see through the soot and smoke, and make sure the rounds he was firing were penetrating the insectoids' carapaces. Only a few seconds of firing ensued, before the ammunition meter on his gun blinked at zero, and the Zerglings remained unscathed and growling with anger. Henderson had lost all his hope for survival as he stared at his dry gun. Without a word of warning, though, a loud booming sound erupted from behind the Marine, as a rocket propelled grenade flew past his head, and destroyed one of the Zerglings, spewing its innards across the sides of the canyon. Another round was fired from behind him, and the second Zergling was waxed as well. Seeing as how the threat was now over for the time being, Henderson turned around to see a Marine sitting on the ground against a wall, rocking back and forth, with his visor up. He was an old black man with glasses and a beard. In his teeth was clenched a cigarette. He didn't look at Henderson at all. He just stared into nothing, and continued to rock back and forth, knowing that his time was almost up. "Who's in charge here?" shouted Henderson, hoping to get a response from the old man. The old Marine turned his head to look at him, then went back to his rocking. Henderson decided to try again. "Where is the air support?" The only response he got was the man just pointing up to the sky. As Henderson looked up, he made out what the Marine was motioning to: a Behemoth Class Battlecruiser that lumbered overhead, not one thousand feet above ground. The spotlights of the ship switched on at that moment, and seemed to gaze around to spy on the destruction.
* * *
The ship was silent inside, and very contemporary looking in the hull. A blatent contrast from the devestation on the surface of the volitile planet. There were a few wooden tables and soft, plushy chairs. An old clock sat on one of the tables, and its hands ticked away, like a metronome, like it was counting down to something. A tall, slim, grey haired man stood at the main window overlooking the carnage. This man was Admiral Gerard DuGalle, the head and founder of the United Earth Directorate, or UED. He was in his mid sixties, and had a long, slender, aged face, and cold, grey eyes. His thin lips curved into a frown, as he stared out the window. "Alexi, come. Witness this... this carnage." He motioned towards another man in the room, without averting his gaze. This other man was Vice Admiral Alexi Stukov, advisor and close friend to the Admiral. He was shorter than the Admral, and had a full, grey beard and an admiral's cap on. He was strong, and his body showed that he obviously exercized quite a bit. The Vice Admiral pulled out a cigar from his front shirt pocket, and lit it with a lighter on the table. As he puffed it, he replyed to his superior with a heavy Russian accent. "Can it wait, Gerard? You're interrupting me from my... duties." Gerard smiled, as he expected this response. "You're vodka can wait, Alexi. You need to see this." Alexi sighed with impatience. "I know all about the Zerg, Gerard. We've seen the tapes a thousand-" Gerard cut him off mid-sentence as the Vice admiral was walking toward the window. "You've seen nothing!" DuGalle shot back, startling Alexi enough for him to drop his cigar on the floor. "Dissecting a dead Zerg in a lab is one thing, but unleashing them upon men is another", he said with angst and emotion. The Vice Admiral looked down out of discouragement. Gerard continued his speech, and focused on Alexi. "You must go into this with both eyes open, Alexi. Once you start, you cannot go back." His eyes narrowed to slits, and his stare pierced through his friend's very soul. "Are you prepared to go all the way with this, Alexi?" Alexi looked down again, and stepped on the cigar on the floor to put it out. He took out another one and lit it. As he puffed it, he said very quietly, but distictly, "Yes. Yes, I am prepared to go all the way." The Admiral was pleased. He smiled, and patted his friend on the back. "Excellent! I knew I could count on you! Come, let us celebrate the ushering of a new age." With that, he walked away from the window, Alexi following suit. "Take us into orbit, Mr. Jenssen." Gerard spoke into his radio to the Navigator as he left the room.
* * *
"What the hell?" Henderson thought to himself, as he watched the hulking cruiser turn and lumber off into the clouds of the higher altitudes and disappear. He continued to stare upwards, showing no emotion, no fear, no shock. He just stood there, deserted. Above the trench, the Zerglings massed, and swarmed. They prepared to feast on the flesh of humans once more, as they charged into the crevace. Henderson smiled, as his world fell apart all around him.

Chapter 2

The planet Braxis is considered to be God-forsaken rock of nothing but ice and snow. The UED Marines have been given orders to subdue Terran Forces on this iceball in the remote city of Boralis, as, apparently, an uprising is underway. Led by the former leader of the Sons of Korhal, Arcturus Mengsk, these Terrans are undoubtedly skilled and deadly. Appoximately two miles away from Boralis, UED dropships descended upon the snow covered plains, and unloaded Marines and Seige Tanks to a remote UED outpost. The acting-commander, Jacob Kendall, strode out of his dropship, and called all the Marines in the outpost to attention. As they lined up, the dropships took off into the atmosphere. "Alright, you sick sons of bitches, listen up! The coordinates we were given must have had shit smeared on them, 'cause that's all we got to work with here, people! No Vespene Gas! Guess what that means, ladies! You will guard these tanks with your lives, becaue we cannot afford to build more of them now!" The factory in this outpost was perfectly capable of building tanks, but without the proper amounts of Refined Gas, the Tanks are impossible to make. The Marines all stood rigidly as General Kendall barked out his orders though his facemask. "You will storm that base guns blazing, and kill every shit-faced, backwards-assed rebel that you see! Do you get me?" The Marines all answered in unison, "Yes, sir!" They were nervous. It was cold, and Boralis was miles away. The long trek would be prefect for an amush by the rebel forces. Yet, they still set out, the valiant, expedable marines, across the snow, with tanks following behind. The snow began to fall, lightly at first, but then heavier as they continued to march towards victory, perhaps, or defeat perhaps. Connor Gaines, a private first class, spoke up after about a mile of walking, with news of something on his radar. He jogged up to a seige tank, and spoke to his commanding officer. "General Kendall, sir! We have something on radar! A life sign, Terran! What are your orders, sir?" Kendall smiled, as he sat on top of a tank he was hitching a ride with. "Identify it first, then kill it if it's an enemy." The radar blip grew faster, as the battallion neared it, and finally, they were on top of it. The caravan stopped, as they saw a man dressed in light green armor, and brown, dirty rags around his face and upper body to protect him from the wind and cold. They flapped furiously in the wind as the gales picked up. In his arm, he held a C-10 Canister Rifle, standard issue for the Ghost Special Operations Soldiers. Kendall dismounted off his tank, and walked up to the lone man, and confronted him. "My name is General Kendall of the UED. Identify yourself." The strange man removed the rags from his face to reveal his handsome black face. He was young, and had strong facial features. He spoke with an African accent as he answered this man who confronted him. "My name is Lieutenant Samir Duran, leader of the Confederate Resistance Forces. The Sons of Korhal have been a thorn in my side since day one, so I defected with my men. We were just about to launch a surprise attack upon them from the rear." Kendall looked puzzled, and became impatient. :Alright, first off, Mr. Hot Shit, I don't see any of your troops around here at all, and secondly, why the rear?" Samir sighed and close dhis eyes. "It's alright boys. They're not enemies. You can come out now." With those words, several dozen marines rose from the snow behind Duran, and engaged the safety on their rifles. "I'll be damned... Evironmental concealment." Kendall was surprised to say the least, as he stared at the plethora of brown armored Marines. Duran opened his eyes, and looked at Kendall and his men though the stinging cold of the wind. "To answer your second question, sir, we are attack from the rear, for the front sems to be scattered with mines. Our scout found that out the hard way. I see you have tanks, so this should be piece of cake with your help, sir." Kendall looked around with discontent. Fianlly, he picked up his Visual Communicator, and radioed Alexi Stukov, the man you sent them out on this mission. "What is it, Kendall?" Kendall replyed, "We've found a man named Samir Duran, head of the COnfederate Resistance Forces, whatever that is. He wishes to form an alliance with us. What are your orders, sir?" Alexi looked back with questioning in his eyes. "Let me speak to him, Kendall." Kendall replyed quickly. "Yes, sir. Here, Samir. The Vice Admiral wishes to speak to you." Samir Duran accepted the reciever, and saw the face of the older Russian man. "Lieutenant Samir Duran of the Confederate Resistance , this is a mission designed specifically for the UED. Your assisstance is not needed." Samir smiled and shot back a fast response. "On the contrary, Vice Admiral Stukov, our scouts have monitored heavy resistance. Your troops wouldn't stand a chance against our combined power." Alexi's face was filled with anger, thanks to the stubbornness of this young lieutenant. "You arrogant... Fine. You can tag along, but if you try anything, you will be terminated on sight. You hear me, Kendall?" Kendall shouted his positive response of "Yes, sir!" towards the radio. "Good. Stukov out." Static filled the radio, as the picture was gone. Kendal put his rifle in one hand, and leaned against it as he set the butt of it on the ground. "So your here with us now. But like he said; try anything at all, you're toast. Got it?" Duran nodded in affirmation. "Fine then! Let's move out!" The troop's new addition gave it a very menacing appearance, as it marched towards war in Boralis.
* * *
Upon arrival at the rear gate, Samir Duran took the head, and halted the caravan. "I'm going to get us inside. Stand back." He put on some goggles, and loaded an EMP charge into the massive rifle he carried with him. Finding some solid icem he laid down, and set up the gun's tripod and took aim at the large metal doors that sealed the military city within. With a devastating eruption, the gun blasted out its round, hitting the door dead on, knocking out it's motors. He gave a signal, and waved the tanks through. With that, one of the Tanks kicked it into high gear, and barged through the doors, blowing them wide open, while sustaining superficial damage to the armor. In the meantime, the other tank took its time to transform into seige mode. The main turret sunk into the hull, and three "legs" extended from the two sides ad back of the tank to lock it in place. From the rear of the tank, a gigantic cannon was raised, and swiveled to the postion of it's soon-to-be targets. All the while, the creaking and whining of metal gears and plates grinding together set the stage for war, as the multitude of Marines stood readily, nervously, awaiting death and glory. They were sweating with anticipation, waiting for the bloodbath to begin. As the doors swung open, the Marines shouted their battlecry and charged the base, immediately setting fire to any and all buildings they could reach while Lieutenant Duran got his equipment together, and joined the battle. A hail of gunfire erupted withing the city, as rebel marines opened fire upon their oppressors. A squad of three Marines bolted down the middle of the main street, then broke off from each other to divert their fire. The one on the left was cut down by gun fire, but was avenged by his comrades. The tank in seige mode fired it's Arclite Shock Cannon into the city, destroying entire buildings and scattering groups of enermy marines. Kendall stood atop a tank, and switched his gun to single-shot mode, and sniped several bogeys on guard towers. He smiled with content, knowing that he was doing his commander's wishes. Samir Duran climbed up a guard tower, knocking off several marines onto the ground below with hand to hand tactics. He enabled his suit's cloaking device, for a Spec. Ops. suit had those perks, and readied his weapon, and nailed several marines on the ground through the head, and spying one of the mines on the ground. He fired a shot towards a group of enemy marines to get them to scatter towards the minefield, and then shot a mine, setting off a deadly chain reaction. The explosions engulfed his enemies in a sea of flames. He chuckled to himself, and felt more alive than he had ever been. It was only a matter of hours before the rebel forces surrendered. Taken prisoner, the remainder of the insurgebts for the city of Boralis were herded into UED dropships that entered the area after news of victory reached Stukov. The UED marines cheered with Samir Duran and his men in victory, after all the prisoners were rounded up. Kendall smiled at his new compatriot. "Well, I guess I was wrong about you, Duran. That wasn't a fight, it was a massacre! Welcome to the team." He shook his hand vigorously. Duran smiled and felt honored. "I am glad to help, General. And thank you for trusting me. I won't let you down."
Total UED Losses: 22 Units lost, 0 buildings razed.
Total Rebel Losses: 281 Units lost, 47 buildings razed.
