Know what I like? I like being Ignored. Yeah. That really makes me feel great. Team Rocket The Men Behind the Madness Over forty years ago, Team Rocket’s influence was at its peak in the Kanto and Johto regions, with their stranglehold choking every bit of freedom out of the people of these lands. While the terrorists did the dirty work, underground scientists did the labor that became the backbone of the organization. What follows are various Journal Entries taken from the main Rocket Headquarters in Viridian City after a raid by an unknown party sacked the facility in April of 2039. Please note that these entries are top secret, and are by no means, to be released outside of the Indigo League’s personal files. The writings of Doctors Richard Xibar and Edward Paramount on “Project Mewtwo” follow. Name: Richard Xibar Date: March 18, 1994 Time: 9:07 PM I have been placed in charge of a new assignment, issued to me by the Second in Command, Kenshiro Hayazami. He claims it was issued by Giovanni himself. Apparently, I must work with my team to clone a certain Pokemon that was tagged and released several weeks ago. There must be something very important about it, otherwise they would not have asked me to spend time on this. Several DNA samples are being sent to the lab tomorrow for inspection and analysis, and, hopefully, the procedure should begin tomorrow, if all goes well. Harley (1) has been sick lately. Apparently, he must have caught it while interacting with the other lab Pokemon. His fever broke a little while ago, after I prepared a small vaccination for him. He should be fine by tomorrow. Until then, I’ll keep a watch over him, and make sure he eats his dinner. 1: In reference to Xibar’s pet Marowak. Name: Richard Xibar Date: March 19, 1994 Time: 10.21 PM The samples were sent to the lab, as promised, but upon analysis, it was determined that this Pokemon was not catalogued in the database, and deemed a new species. Nevertheless, we have begun a genetic breakdown of the DNA in question, and made quite a surprising discovery. It appears as though this Pokemon contains the genetic makeup of every Pokemon discovered to date. It has a mind-boggling amount of chromosomes in its makeup; over four hundred to be exact, and it shares at least one of them with each Pokemon in the data banks. Our researchers are now double checking the genetics of the other Pokemon, and will attempt to confirm out beliefs. During my lunch break, I took Harley down to the Geosphere in the fourth sub-level for some exercise. He loves it there, and was quite active, now that his sickness is gone. Chasing the birds and running about are his favorite activities, and I’m glad he’s back to his old self again. Name: Richard Xibar Date: March 20, 1994 Time: 10:44 PM Astounding! After cross-checking over eighty different species of Pokemon, it turns out that each of them shares one chromosome on the same genetic level as our new creature. We have dubbed our unseen specimen, “Mew”, as it stands for “Microgenetic Elemental World”, and called the Project, “Project Mewtwo”, in our hopes of cloning this so-called mother of the Pokemon. Stasis chambers have been prepared, and filled with a saline solution which will hold the embryos of the host Mew DNA. We will be taking a day old embryo of a Machop (since all Pokemon embryos are identical until the second trimester) and infusing it with the genetic information of Mew, in the hopes that our first project goes well. Harley was neglected today, and for that I was sorry. He still seemed upset at me, but the feeling subsided after coddling and pampering before I began writing. I fed him double today, as a form of apology, and he seems quite happy; he’s looking over my shoulder now, as a matter of fact. And on that note… More later.
