Since Xeo kindly closed the last one.

I figured I'd start a new one.. here's a neat little tip for all you kiddos who can't live without table attributes and properties.

Divs have a built in table emulation property, where you make ask? In display!

So let's say you have some things you want to scale at the same time and divs just won't do it..

all you have to do is created a parent div to control box in some divs.. I suggest calling the id "container" and add "display: table" to it's css property.

Then in each div you want inside it. You can put "display: table-cell"

So if you have three divs they'll appear as such..

And when one grows, they will all grow. Just like with the tables of old.

I use this little trick with blog layouts where I need two sidebars

How can you abbreviate it when that is the name of the tag?

"div" is the name of the main element of CSS.

The < div > (division) tag can be used to create a block with elements like table, text, image or whatever you want. Everything enclosed in the block will be part of that division. You can include as many div tags into a page as you like.

Yes the < p > starts a new paragraph, but something most people DON'T do is CLOSE this tag.

This is something that can go in this thread.

Anyone notice when you write code in XHTML 1.1 it looks fine in Opera and Firefox (possibly other browsers I personally haven't checked). It just seems to brake in Internet Explorer. I mean, I updated to the IE7Beta 2 just to see if they fixed it up. But nope, it still breaks, not as bad, but it still breaks the hell up.

Why is IE so crap and why do people continue to use it?

Also, don't say "Well your code is wrong". I check it in both CSS and XHTML valid checker and they both match the highest standards. And I don't want to learn IE "hacks" just to get them to work.

I have no idea why anyone would continue to use IE. It's features are severely lacking and the rendering continues to suck.

I have one friend who continues to use IE. It's weird because he's a computer junkie, and you'd think he'd use something else but he doesn't ... my friends and I continue to make fun of him about it sometimes.

I don't know. After using MFF for so long, whenever I see someone using IE these days it just looks unprofessional and everything.

Well I personally I don't actually use Firefox. I use Safari which is Apple's new default web browser for OS X, and it's actually +really+ good. It renders CSS / XHTML as proper as Gecko(Mozilla) based browsers and even has some CSS3 only features (like text-shadow support).

But if I'm on Windows or Linux I'm always on Firefox.
