If I remeber corretly the Brackets([]) are not real html, the board just has some basic codes that you can use with out knowing HTML, and thats how they start.

But the <> is real HTML, or XHTML, CSS, and others. Its um, the better choice.

plus the bracket type doesnt allow as much "freedom" as HTML

Thats all I know.

All I know is that the brackets are called BBcode, usually on most message boards. I truly don't think they're used for anything else.

I think they're just codes for simplified HTML, but really HTML is pretty basic as it is.

So yeah, there's somewhat of a difference, but they both are there for the same reason.

They work the same way, for the most part.

The board processes brackets similar to how HTML is read, to make it easier for users who aren't very experienced with HTML.

But outside of the board, brackets wouldn't work the way they do here at most places.
