You can't stand penguins? But it's the Linux thingie person. He's so cute. Kind of.

I can't stand the planet and its mundane and clueless population. That's why I play the Sims and SimCity. At least that way, I can control them or destroy their cities if they piss me off. Not much leeway in the real world, and I just don't have the enthusiasm to do any more hacky things online anymore. Much less doing anything with a board.

I also hate stupid questions where the answer is blatantly obvious.

There's something we have in common, you should see the margins of my notes in class. They're filled with random doodles and little inventions, add-ons for my car, of just overall technical schematics for a computer network or something. Have always been a doodler, and while I can't draw as well as I used to anymore, I've refocused that energy into writing.

No, we can't start over with new counts, I don't think I can surpass 1000 again...

It took so long the first time. Why can't we just move on like we did with the last post wipe? Is it just that hard? I don't really care about (actually I do) my stories. Nevermind, I'm done whining. Don't want to fall to their level.

**CIA slowly raises himself to his feet immediately becoming engulfed in his fiery red flame. The armor redeploys with just under five minutes left to the time freeze. The blue glow disperses violently across the campus blowing the dark clouds away with it. The secret passages now exposed, a large fireball erupts from below the rubble of the building destroying any evidence of the passageways. The flame fires towards CIA engulfing him in the blaze before dissolving away. CIA, standing at the ready in front of the dark figure, now clad in jet-black armor and still engulfed in his own red flame, pulls out the same small cube from before and lauches it into the rubble. Immediately, the cube begins rebuilding the structures surrounding it.**

We've got five minutes to go, and shit's going down. I'll explain in a few minutes, all before the time freeze drops. Someone grab Marcus, and deal with him in the stadium. It'll be easier that way since we won't have an entire school to deal with. The cube will regenerate everything we've destroyed and leave everything appearing as nothing has happened.

**CIA tries to move the dark figure, but he can't make him budge. The time freeze has forced the dark figure to become fused to the ground.**

Okay...well, I guess I'm staying here.

I'm oddly flattered, yet not. Sorry, man, but Cyro Xero falls more into the realm of possibly dateable people. Then Junkie, but we still have to prove he's not straight...however, it's not that difficult to dispute.

So, being the gay one, I have two: Cyro Xero and Junkie. And, it's sad that I have a thing for Junkie.

Not to detract, but I have a whole different spin on this subject. It's not so much self-mutilation as it is mentally barring the soulbonded ninjas in my head from doing things. Among the two (Zabuza and the Hokage), one is particularly restless having to reside within me. As of late, I've let him off his protective leash. Bad move.

I'm not going to elaborate now, and I'm not going to explain right now either. Let's just say that he's figured out how to manipulate my body parts into random spasms (messes with my nerves) in hopes that I'll give him what he wants--full unbridled body control. Basically...no.

Anyway, yesterday he decided that he was going to do something...I don't exactly know what yet...but he managed to dislocate my shoulder. After that, he figured out that his water control doesn't work well with my electrical control, and he ended up in writhing searing pain. The result, systematic shut-down, numbing dull pain, and decreased energies overall to my whole being. It took me three hours just to get rid of the chest area pains, and I'm still numb and can't feel my right pinky.

Okay, all that aside, I take pleasure in disciplining Zabuza because he's a restless little dork. I guess it counts as a form of self-mutilation, since it requires a large bank of my life energies to subdue him...thereby weakening myself.

I could come in here and welcome you and repeat the same dribble that everyone else has already done, and I could warn you not to walk anywhere around my house or to read the FAQs and such, but I've chosen to create a random run-on typey sentence instead.

I could toss in some random thing here as well, but I choose not to since my fingers are all acting up because of Zabuza. So, yeah. Whatever.

I'd rather not touch on the bloodplay, but to each their own. Anywho, I guess if you count the fact that I like to play with my internal energies to the point that, yes, I can die...I guess that counts as self-mutilation.

Okay, I'll insert the series again:

Paradox Island
By: CIAHacker/Zabuza
Part of the Paradox Island Series

Prologue: Destiny

Picture, if you will, an island far more complex than any other entity on any planet in any solar system, and the lives of those inhabitants have the opportunity to come to life right before your eyes. Their stories, forever intertwined and greatly affecting each other, help to tell the overall history and foundations of Paradox Island. From the lush northern plain of Central Plaza to the technologically untouched landscapes of Erdu City, extending towards the highly advanced realm of Edge City County just passed Oakridge City with its universities, shopping centers, and waterfront activities, on to the quiet fields of Zedari to the southern most tip of the Island where the animals run free unencumbered by civilized presence from the rest of the Island. A beautiful land overseen by the power of three suns and two moons, a land perched far out in the middle of a vast ocean far from the ruins of the mainland, and the troubles of an environmentally evil society.
Welcome to the land where prosperity ensues, and its peoples live in harmony with nature, manmade wonders, and each other. Prepare yourself to enter their world, and you may find a place of your own within their familiarities, within their homes and places of employment, within their diversions. Prepare to engage yourself with their troubles, their romances, their wonders, and their excitement. In an island as diverse as theirs, it’s impossible not to lose yourself.

Chapter One: Oakridge

Oakridge, so named because of the lush oak trees lining all city streets and avenues and because it sits on the edge of the Great Ocean, has become my home since I defected from Edge City’s towering buildings. I craved the warmth of the suns, and the cool winter nights underneath the stars. When I was promoted to senior executive of my late father’s company, I took my bonus and invested in the beautiful homes overlooking the far-off Zedari fields. It’s a small drive from Oakridge to downtown Edge City, but the time to myself is entirely worth it. On weekends, I visit Edge City University to continue my studies on the Island’s infrastructure, and often go out with colleagues from the Astrological Department—Crystle and Tom—on their ventures into the soft fields of Zedari.
Just north of Edge City, far above its towering office buildings just before the large Nisian orange trees, we find the peasantesque city of Erdu where life is as carefree as a Terran Parisian village. Where the elken trees create large canopies over the dirt roads, and its inhabitants lead a pleasant lifestyle almost reminiscent of the early ways of the founders.

Dark Diaries
Part of the Paradox Island series
By: CIAHacker/Zabuza

Prologue

Huddled in a dark quiet room, the sound of an oscillating fan in the background, and the subtle creaking of an older armchair underneath her soft, long bathrobe. Her fully independent companion sitting on the unmade bed behind her form licking himself in a perpetual ritual of cleanliness as she leans forward to continue her perusal of the ancient paper documents on her cluttered desk. The holoviewer playing ancient renderings of popular entertainment and her computer actively processing the large amounts of writing bestowed upon her. Deadlines weighing heavily on her shoulders, as the news never ceases to produce the mundane stories of her lifetime, but the discs must be delivered before next morning so that the masses of Edge City can have their quick, soulless, information fix.
Almost like an intoxicating cloud of despair, advances in technology created an obsolete world for the printed word of yesterday. An empty vessel for the writings of old never to be filled by the clacking and clicking of the days of new, Christine toils daily for the efforts of the nation’s largest news syndicate, the Edge City Chronicle, in hopes that the media shall one day return to the glories of paper information. The automatons of new with direct brain-transfer info-links, holoviewer on-demand updates, and always on globalnet access crave the information fix as much as citizens of long gone Terran once craved instant fixes of caffeine and pleasure.
In her native Oakridge, the news still finds a way to distribute itself in the form of a citywide micro press recounting tales of the day before, tales unfolded that morning, or tales yet to unfold. She dabbled as a freelancer for the city’s opinion and observation column, providing delightful and often joyously bitter insight on the musings of the Island’s many diverse peoples. To find a diversity as rich as Paradox Island anywhere else on their planet proved as difficult as the old saying of finding a needle in a haystack. While the advanced civilization living in Edge City had never experienced the lives where one would encounter a haystack, her life was filled with endless discovery and wonder. Often escaping from the Island, and traveling to interstellar realms thanks to her significant other’s ties to the major form of intercelestial transportation, the air/spaceport served as a second home, a kind of dimensional portal to worlds and beings in the far beyond. Nevertheless, never venture into the world of Disney Planet. That was a whole other form of evil that no one should have to endure. That was a job for junior editors.

Boundaries Unseen
By: CIAHacker/Zabuza
Part of the Paradox Island Series

Chapter One: Solaris

On days that would make even the suns flail about in shame of its own existence, Rosy decided that venturing into the teeming land of Edge City’s Central Plaza would be less painful than sitting through another one of Lee’s rantings. Anything to get away from Lee’s incessant random drone of things from the great beyond of Edge City International, and his dealings with the many denizens of Earth II. While venturing out into the intense heat of high noon with Earth II’s three suns would greatly affect her skin’s well-being, she nonetheless felt that trekking through the shade of the metallic trees of business plaza would lessen any potential damage.
Business Park Plaza’s immense structures helped to add shade despite the positions of the three suns. Heat from these glowing orbs was not too intense, but for Rosy’s species of meta-beings, it seemed like strolling though any daylight produced similarities to strolling through the gaseous surface of the most powerful sun. Rosy had a mental mission that day, however wonderful it would have been to postpone it until nightfall, which compelled her to wander stealthily about the shadows. Since Central Plaza lies on the north side of the Business Park Plaza, a meandering stroll amongst the manmade structures became excruciatingly bearable.
“I could drive you there,” started Lee, “but I know how your kind hates our tech.”
“It’s not that, and I appreciate the offer,” Rosy stopped for a brief moment to watch a bird land on the twenty-third story windowsill before taking off for the next building. Bright arid hews of orange and red streamed through the gaps between the surround buildings of the university, “but I’d prefer to walk even if my quest takes me through business plaza.”
The second sun now began to set just beyond the north horizon, but nightfall in the city proved to be a greater danger than a pre-dusk walk through the plaza. While her species’ host-beings were naturally mathematical and scientific warriors, the blend of Earth-human DNA with Nisian strengths produced a highly intelligent, naturalistic warrior with a lack in sufficient epidermal protection from the suns’ ultraviolet rays. These meta-beings, like a few others on Earth II, thrive in nightlife. Rosy just did not like being around her own, or rather they did not like her.
“Why central plaza? I heard the Nisian j’aghul trees are dropping their fruits at this time of the year,” Lee inquired as they rode the turbolift down to the subterranean parking. Lee, a Eckta'arian-human meta-species blessed with excellent dexterity, agility, intelligence, and language comprehension but lacking the physical strength to engage in any physical combat—an engineer by trade—examined the contacts panel while humming an ancient ballad from the now extinct Earth Prime civilizations.
“She’s there. I have to go to her tonight, or I’ll lose her…,” she paused to watch Lee’s hands trace the outlines of the contacts; the tune he hummed sounding familiar.
"Listen, mind if I tagged along with you today? I have to be at HQ later tonight anyway, and central plaza is on the way. No shuttle, promise.” Lee watched the ground quickly approaching towards them.
"While I’d appreciate your company, I’d prefer to travel alone. Go home; they’ll need you at the station tomorrow.” Rosy watched the second sun set beyond the administration buildings. Forty minutes.
The final sun setting in less than an hour with central plaza an hour’s walk away, but at least she would only be exposed to one-third of Solaris’ rays.
Rosy’s long coat hung just above the sidewalk swaying in the warm breeze artificially funneled by the surrounding buildings. A concealed Eckta’arian blade gleamed from beneath her coat, and a poised hint of confidence shielding an underlying anxiety to sunlight and wonderful beings of the night.
“Cho’gk t’egh pa’ach!” Rosy stopped in her tracks. She recognized the harsh voice calling from behind. Whom is he calling half-breed? she thought. She addressed the being while resting her left hand on her dakt’ehg dagger.
“I travel with no one’s permission. My destination is not your concern.” Rosy slowly turned to face the cloaked Paradox Island soldier.
“One must not travel into the central plaza tonight. No one travels into central plaza tonight.” The soldier charged his phaser rifle, but kept his weapon poised in his hands.
“How fortunate. I am ‘no one’, and I shall be traveling into central plaza regardless of Island curfews and regulations,” Rosy expertly revealed her concealed blade, “even if that means going through you.” She turned to walk away towards the great sculpture fountain in the center of business plaza.
“You’ve been warned. We’ll meet again.” The soldier tapped a few contacts on his arms, and transported away. Rosy resumed her walk down the granite steps towards the cool flowing water. A pulsating multi-hewed orb rose from the water’s edge and held position before him beckoning him to touch its holographic colors.
“Neh’k t’ogh ch’ak t’egh mohg. Central plaza cha’hg me’nogh to’egl,” the words flowing as fluidly as the water below the orb. Loosely translated in Terran, Eckta’arian produced this, “Half-breeds we are not. Central plaza awaits your arrival.”
“Harmonious multi-species existence on a utopian structure under Paradoxian law, yet the full species cannot embrace the meta-species. If only my fellow Eckta’arians were further compassionate than current states suggest. E’nogh hat’ogh neh’k t’egh mogh n’eh. Blessed and pure are the half-breeds of the world.”
The orb faded and disappeared into the flowing ebbs of the fountain. Rosy glanced beyond the buildings towards the towering trees of central plaza just a few blocks away. She recalled a saying from ancient Earth Prime about weirdoes only coming out at night. Whoever coined the phrase could not have possibly come any closer to the truth.

Prologue

Deep in the gleaming metallic jungles of downtown Edge City in a jet-black building located near the borders of the business centers cowers a gifted young man shrouded under a dark leather coat. Poring himself over the keyboard contacts and displays surrounding his polished silver desk, he contemplates the intruders of old with the garbage of new. Dirty light permeating in thin strands through the musty room, he sat awaiting replies from his many cyber minions. The midday suns now on the horizon just cresting beyond the towering structures of yesterday and tomorrow, sunlight filtering through a dust frosted window and a singular hand-blown tumbler of water resting peacefully next to a small statuette of a scantily clothed anime girl, Pat leaned back in his chair watching a solitary speck of dust glide through the room. His coat shifted slightly off his shoulders as he pressed chair farther backwards in order to gain full view of his blank white ceiling. An air of solitude hanging in the mist outside, Pat decided that perhaps tonight would be an excellent night to test the machine.
The rapid descent down the turbo shaft to the ground floor twenty stories below allowed little time to contemplate the temperature outside, and the harsh conditions that come with nightfall in the heart of the City. Doors slid effortlessly to reveal a dimly lit lobby complete with a sleeping doorman at the concierge desk. Pat started his walk towards the front door, coat swaying with each step.
“Who goes there?” the doorman whispered in his sleep, head never lifting from its reposed position. The doorman’s large body and flowing blond hair didn’t really impose a threatening image on people coming in and out of the building, but the giant axe sitting next to him ready to be launched at any infidel made those who had no business in the building think otherwise about venturing in.
“Asleep on the job again, I see, eh Tom?” Pat walked past the desk and beyond to his postbox. Tom’s weight shifted underneath his seat as he tilted forward to stare at the security monitor for the fifteenth floor.
“No, I was merely resting my tired eyes,” he turned to look at Pat with eyes that glowed as green as the contacts on the security console, “I see you’re off to some place tonight.”
“Well, yeah. I can’t stand the light of day, and night is the perfect setting for…” he paused to read the incoming postcards. Hmm, he thought, seems they’re going to Zedari after all. Well, I’m not going to see some meteor shower again. Screw that.
“For?”
“Hmm? Oh nothing.” An alarm began to sound at Tom’s desk. He tilted forward and hit a few contacts on the main security console. Some thug had broken into an apartment on the fifteenth floor, north side. He ceased all lift stops to that floor, and placed the safety foam detonation on standby.
“That should do it. Hey, did you happen to hear if Rosy was heading up to Zedari this afternoon?” Tom sat up, readjusting himself in the ergonomic seat, his axe shifting and resting slightly on the security desk.
“No. In fact, I only know…” he paused to glance at his watch. The window was shrinking. “…that Tom and Crystle were going out to the fields. I received an invite for tomorrow morning.” He showed Tom the postcard, then turned towards the main doors.
“Leaving so soon?” Pat nodded at the question, and pushed his way out into the unforgiving cold of the night. He coat came to a standstill behind him as he watched what little stars he could see beyond the buildings and walked towards the Business Central plaza.

Chapter I: Millennium

A dark silhouette walking amongst the cold buildings, footsteps quietly and diligently placed on the pavement, coat swaying in the darkness. The mist began to slowly fall from far above trying to cover the ground below while Pat sifted through several thoughts floating around his dormant mind. He watched his coat shift back and forth, as he walked through the desolate night air looking for the perfect spot to unveil one of his masterful toys. Night dwellers began to surface from their inner domains to bask in the moonlight away from the harshness of the solar triplets, away from the harshness of daytime reality, to become the veritable children of the night. However, Patrick did not share the same curiosity they had for nocturnal destruction, vandalism, and overall being “shady”. He reached into his pocket producing a silver rectangular device with a single pulsating green light centered on the unit, and pointed this device towards a small cylindrical structure sitting atop the central fountain of Business Park Plaza. The unit began to pulsate rapidly as he approached the inactive cascade prompting a hidden mobile computer in his opposite pocket to awaken from its slumber.
He approached the base of the fountain only to discover a familiar night dweller standing on the initial steps leading up to the main cascade holding a long, silvered broad sword. Patrick stopped walking and sat in the shadows of the darkness.
“I see you,” the night dweller declared to Pat as she turned to face him with eyes of crimson fires. The night dweller’s long cloak and long hair indicated that her ancestors were of the old ways from the times before Edge City took over the region; existing from the great days of old when nature was the law of the land.
“Damn,” Pat whispered under his breath before lifting himself up to proceed down the stairs, “how could you?”
“Heightened senses for this nocturnal being,” the night dweller answered as she knelt down to run her blade through the clear water of the fountain, “What brings you here tonight?”
“An experiment,” he paused to look up towards Isis, the smaller second moon, and then continued, “What takes you up to Central Plaza?”
The night dweller stood from her position, stowed her sword, and turned to face Patrick—her eyes slowly fading, “How did you know about that? I guess everyone knows that Tracy has gone away on a retreat.” She paused to watch a bird fly through the buildings, “Anyway, I have to depart before Night Squadron arrives. Give my best to the others when you see them.”
“I will…later. Take care, Rosy, and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Rosy stepped off the ledge and walked up towards the northern edge of the plaza disappearing behind the shadows of the buildings. Pat stared down at his watch. 1:14 AM, perfect. He walked down to the base of the fountain taking great care in placing the silvered device on the ledge of the fountain—its light now a solid green. The cylindrical object rotated slightly producing a miniature satellite dish while Pat sat down on the steps of the cascade plaza with his mobile computer. Isis shone overhead, perfectly centered over the plaza, its light dispersing among the harsh angles of the buildings.

Part of the Paradox Island Series

Prologue

Fifty-two thousand feet above the fruitful plains where pollen and leaves played among the tall weeds, and birds circled and soared a few feet above the ground, a water droplet begins its journey towards the warm ground below. The beginning of a storm not to be felt, not to be seen, not to exist, but for this droplet the beginning of an adventure through the clear skies before its termination somewhere on or above the ground below. The dark rain cloud releasing its heavy contents towards the quiet field below; the quiet field awaiting the pummeling of the ensuing rain. But, two miles above the cloud, unseen by all below, glides a rocky structure awaiting its impact with the field.
Three days before, he waited in the same field, telescope and laptop in hand, for his partner to pull up in her minivan. The minivan slid down the dusty trail, rock music blaring through open windows, and passed several other watchers standing in fields much like her partner stood in the middle of the field at the end of the road. The week was upon them, and the day grew nearer.
“What took you so long?”, he voiced while crouching down to set up the telescope. His slender body and long arms fiddled with the cables descending from the telescope assembly, “You know I need the van for power to the laptop.”
“You knew I wouldn’t miss this for the world,” she removed her visor letting her beautiful brown hair flow and shine in the suns, “but how are we going to do anything just sitting out here in the field?” She handed him one end of a worn, orange extension cord and walked off towards the van. Little birds circled around above watching the humans work below them. “You really think we’ll see it from out here?”, she yelled back towards the other end of the cord, “even without our observatron?”
“Yeah,” he yelled as he plugged his laptop in and set it upon a makeshift table of cardboard and plastic milk crates, “and we don’t need you jinxing us any more…knock on wood.”
She plugged the cord into the power converter, then raised a hand to tap the faux wood dashboard, “Knock on wood!” she yelled back. The day was unevenly warm, getting gradually colder as the storm front moved closer. Winds of change began to blow kicking up loose dust in small tornadoes that died as they reached the minivan’s tires.
“Very funny. Hey, bring the phase equalizer and the time-lapse camera”, he fumbled with a small hat-umbrella he had found in the milk crate and placed it balanced on the end of the telescope helping to provide shade for the small weathered computer. She walked up behind him carrying the equipment he had requested.
“Hungry?” she asked as she pulled out a ripe, green apple from her knapsack. She sat in the grass, and watched him mess with the instruments intricately connecting all components together and waiting for Linux to power up. The telescope’s motor came to life as Linux completed its startup, and moved into place facing towards the northern elevation just past the sun. Data began pouring into the computer, and he slid back to meet her next to her knapsack.
“What ya got?” he riffled through the knapsack and produced a heavy orange, “Nisian?”
“Yup,” she took a juicy bite out of the apple and continued, “Rosy brought it back from Central Plaza.”
“How is Rosy? I heard she was on a quest of some sort through the Central Plaza. Too bad she couldn’t join us today down here…she doesn’t know what she’s missing.”
“She’s okay, and she’s not missing much, just the onset of a storm. Did you bring me all the way down here just to watch a storm roll in?” She took another bite from her apple, and reclined back onto the grass.
“No, there’s more. I know it. I tell you, what Rosy’s looking for and what I’m looking for are greatly related.”
“You don’t even know what she’s looking for,” she sat up and squinted up towards the northern sun, “it’s just the same showers we have every year. What makes this year so special?”
“It’s not the showers this year, it’s something more.” Tom sat backwards onto the soft field and watched the storm clouds start to move in. “I can feel it.”

Chapter One: Clouds

The telescope whirred around to face them, then moved around to face the main cityscape. Circles and databases came to life on the laptop’s screen while the telescope moved upward to face the main storm cloud. Tom leaped up from his supine position, and stared meticulously at the data appearing on the screen. Crystle rolled over onto her stomach and watched the tufts of dirt flying around the van. The van is going to get dirty, she thought.
“I knew it!” Tom screamed as he pointed at the screen, finger shaking with excitement. He shoved Crystle’s leg, “I told you! I told you that there was something going on!”
Crystle rolled over onto her back, and sat up to peruse the data. The second sun began to crest the horizon, nightfall becoming imminent. The computer began to graph the data producing a conundrum of numbers and figures that only the two of them could decipher. The disturbances on the computer showed a large metallic object several miles above them hurtling down towards them at an amazing speed measuring several miles across heading towards the southern end of Edge City County. “Maybe it’s a fluke. Maybe it’s a ship.”
Tom sat down and began typing furiously on the little laptop, his hair falling into his eyes as the wind began to pick up slightly. The small tornados beneath the tires of the van dissipated into low-lying dust clouds rushing around the road. Other people in the field began running around excitedly gathering computers, telescopes and equipment, and heading back towards their vehicles. Third sun on the horizon; nightfall waiting just beyond it.
“I don’t think so,” answered Tom as he searched through the data for coordinates and estimated time of impact, “it seems to be headed toward the center of the City.” He tapped Crystle’s shoulder, her figure now facing the masses running towards their vehicles, “what’s wrong?”
She stood up, covering her eyes from the low-lying red third sun and the kicked up dirt, and watched the droves of enthusiasts scurry towards their vehicles and promptly speed off towards the cities. The air smelled sweet, like the dew upon the elken trees near Ryan’s home in Erdu. Then, she remembered that Ryan had not made it that morning. She gazed down at Tom, “Did you notice that Ryan didn’t make it today?”
He stood up to meet her and looked down the road past their minivan, “No, I hadn’t. Maybe he decided not to come. You know we’ll get a letter from him later, being that he doesn’t like using the telephone or globalnet.” He looked back at the computer and brushed his hair away from his eyes, then turned and walked hurriedly back towards the van. At the van, he stopped at the front passenger seat and searched the glove compartment. Yelling back towards Crystle, “Where did you put the phase equalizer?”
Crystle looked down at her backpack, knelt down and picked up the small rectangular appliance. She yelled back while holding it up, “This? It’s right here.” She turned it on and began scanning the region, “Whoa. Come here, look at this!” She sat on the moist earth as the third sun completely set behind her, the two moons above now providing a washed white light for the region. Tom turned to face the hill watching as the last of the others moved over the hill into a purplish haze. Storm cloud? At this time of year? That low?, he thought. The lights in the towering structures of Business Plaza in Edge City were just beginning to flicker on, nightlife starting anew with the descent of the three suns and the ascent of the two moons. The new city that never sleeps.
Tom began walking back, but stopped at the sound of gravel and dirt being kicked up by an approaching vehicle, headlights turned off. He walked towards the back of the van and watched the vehicle glide clumsily down the hill, off the road and into a tree. “Shit,” he yelled towards Crystle, “some car just crashed into a tree! I’m going to check it out, you stay here.” He started running down the dirt road, dust kicking up and contributing to the low-lying dust clouds, running towards the small car. As he drew closer, he began to recognize the vehicle. Ryan? All sounds left him, and his rhythmic breathing as he sped up his pace towards the vehicle was all he heard. As he approached the incapacitated vehicle, he noticed there was no occupant in the vehicle. He stopped in his tracks, “What? This is Ryan’s car. Where’s Ryan?” His phone began to ring.
Tom reached for his pocket only to discover the phone had fallen out a few feet behind him. He continues his approach to the disabled vehicle with no occupant. The vehicle came to life as he stepped closer—lights came on, engine revved then idled, radio fizzled back on to a slow classical tune, the airbag and safety foam deployed—and Tom’s phone continued to ring in the dust behind him. He tapped the contact on his earpiece.
“Hello?” The voice on the other end fizzled in and out, but communicated in tones of otherworldly origins.
“Thomas. Step away from the vehicle, and look towards the top of the hill. Go to the top; there you shall receive your answer.”
“What answer? Who is this? Why?” he was interrupted by the voice of eternal existence again.
“Go to the top of the hill, and gaze towards the city. Go to the top of the hill, and gaze towards the heavens. Go to the top of the hill, and you’ll have your answer.” The voice trailed off, and the call ended promptly. Tom leaned against the trunk of Ryan’s car and looked up the hill following the trail of gravel left by the car up towards the purplish-blue haze near the top. A bright towering light shot up towards the sky from the middle of Edge City’s downtown before dissipating into a single spot high above. His feet buckled beneath him, and he fell onto the ground behind the car, his hand landing on a smooth rectangular object. The object reflected the moons’ beams with an absolute splendor only reserved for the most cherished luxuries of the mainland of old; it felt cold to the touch and possessed a quality of mystery only inherent to the dwellings of Erdu. He held it up to the light of the main moon, and gazed up towards the top of the hill. The object’s center rotated and became known as an apparent mobile data recorder. He stood from his place, and slinked slowly towards the bottom of the hill.
“Tom!” Crystle yelled at him as she ran up the trail. Her hair flowing behind her as she ran carrying the laptop under her arm, kicking up dust and closing in on her lab partner. She saw his phone lying dust-covered on the ground, picked it up, and continued her pace towards Ryan’s car.
Tom turned around holding the device in a closed fist before placing it in his pants’ pocket. He walked towards his lab partner—slowly at first, then increasing his pace to meet her slightly in front of the vehicle. The car’s lights slowly faded, the engine puttered to a low purr before dying again, the radio silenced—Tom walked slowly up to Crystle. He took the laptop from her arms and opened it revealing a satellite image of a giant object over the island. He leaned in to whisper, “I told you.”
He dropped the computer and ran towards the minivan. She stood watching him before she picked up the computer and ran towards the van following him.

NOT PART OF THE PARADOX ISLAND SERIES...WRITTEN SHORTLY AFTER 9/11...

WTC-9.11
A Short Story in Progress
By: CIAHacker/Zabuza

Imagine for a moment that everyone you ever knew, loved, and hated disappeared for eternity. Now, imagine that not everyone disappeared, but that you ceased to exist on one plane but lived on another. Further, imagine that you know everyone you ever loved exists on that other plane, and you have no way of possibly returning. And, everyone on that plane thinks you are dead. Sound scary? Yeah, well, that’s where I come in. I’m living it.

Brian

The day that started it all for me was a fateful morning unlike others. Oh, I’ve had fateful mornings before, but none like the day I was about to experience. You may never believe me, but four thousand other people and I share the same experience each in our own way. Intrigued? Let me tell you my story.

I served as a mail runner for both towers of the World Trade Center. Our home base of operations was in the North Tower on Floor 93. I don’t know why, but it just was. Hey, I only worked for them, right? Anyway, moving on, on the morning of September 11th, 2001, I was working a few floors below from where the plane hit. Around the time the plane was moving in closer, I was standing at the window where the first plane collided. I saw it coming, and froze. Next thing I know, I’m standing in a dimly lit room with a few hundred other people. Did I die? Is this what death is like? No, it’s not.

Ever hear stories of alien abductions growing up and wondering if they had any truth to them? I watched Star Trek thousands of times, and wondered why they never prevented disasters like 9/11. In reality, higher beings always have. On that fateful morning, I had died and yet also been bestowed the chance to begin anew. I had not died, yet I had? Confused? I’ll clear it up, just give me a few minutes.

So, there we were. People I recognized from work, from the floor I was on, and from other floors. I figured we had died, and we were awaiting our judgments before we went to wherever we were going. People were talking to each other, wondering what was going on. The noise level became deafening in the small room. Then, the lights brightened, and we settled down.

That morning, we were cloned. All people who died on 9/11 were cloned. The originals had been moved to another dimension were they could continue to live, and our lifeless clones were left as placeholders for the morgue. Ok, I see that I’m confusing you. Let me reorganize and start from where they started telling us about our day.

Ok, let me clear up who “they” is. To my understanding, several thousand years ago, long before civilized man roamed earth, a higher alien species that call themselves Beings set out to create a better life for their human “experiment”. They abducted several humans, rapidly accelerated evolution, combined several different alien DNA with human DNA, and produced a higher species of human: meta-humans. Well, these meta-humans needed a place to inhabit, being greatly intellectually superior to their fellow cave dwellers. The Beings decided to leave behind one meta-human on each continent to ensure that the species would thrive in the very least on Earth, while shipping all other meta-humans to an artificially constructed Earth II. Earth II, being a highly evolved Earth (Prime), houses several billion species, including that of the meta-humans, in perfect harmony. It’s the utopia that Earth has yet to achieve.

As a result of their evolved forms, Earth II has diligently been working on helping Earth Prime to become what Earth II currently is. But, as stubborn as Earth Prime is, it needs a little nudging. That’s where “they” come in. “They” are a highly developed entity similar to a government military, but more so. If you’ve seen Star Trek on Earth, then you’ll get how they operate. They call themselves AstroCommand, and the division we dealt with in particular is Temporal Investigations. They, along with four other divisions, ensure that exploration, enrichment, and Earth I & II’s safety are top priority. This includes, preserving Earth from large, history-changing disasters…and while they couldn’t prevent 9/11 as a whole, they did do something.

Apparently, their high commander, Admiral Lee Almodovar, is an Earth Prime native meta-human coexisting in Earth II’s realm. Mind you, Earth II doesn’t even exist in the same timeframe as Earth Prime. Earth II’s date is actually several years in the future…2654. Apparently there’s a weird, highly complicated space-time continuum rift that appears every millennia that allows for two worlds centuries apart to coexist for 1000 years. But, that alone requires more explanation than I ever want to give. Just trust me for now, and we’ll leave it at that.

So, according to what we’ve been told, and what we’ve learned, Admiral Lee wakes up on the morning of 9/11 only to discover that the first tower had been hit by a wayward jetliner. Horrible disaster, oh well, no big deal right? Well, to Admiral Lee, yes. Then the second plane hits. No longer an accident, and Admiral Lee springs into action. He orders Temporal to do something about this situation, and that’s how I’m here telling you this.

Ok, it's not that simple. That morning, while I stepped and froze in front of the window before being disintegrated by a 747, I also had stepped into a veritable freeze in time. Ok, this is taking too long. I’ll just let one of the officers in this lounge I’m in take over…he’ll do a better job, then I’ll step in again when the time’s right.

Lieutenant Commander Carter

All right, it’s apparently now my turn to tell the story of Earth Prime, September 11th, 2651, I mean, 2001. Sorry, date-time confusion.

I’m a Temporal Dynamics Engineer aboard the AstroShip Astris. On the morning of 9/11, I was directly in charge of transplantation of all four thousand victims-to-be aboard the four aircraft, on the three structures, and on the ground surrounding the four sites. Without getting too much into detail about the dynamics of temporal displacement theory, I’ll just dive into our mission that day.

That morning, we enacted a never-before-done feat—we froze Earth Prime. Not froze in temperature, but as in a time freeze. Our time-freeze operation lasted two and a half months, but no one except those few meta-humans on Earth Prime actually aged those two and a half months. And, no one noticed anyway. In order to retrieve all four thousand people for transplantation to Earth II, we had to reverse time at individual sites, freeze time, and begin cloning both people and objects. Therefore, we also killed four thousand clones, but we saved four thousand lives. They just can’t see their families, friends, and loved ones anymore.

That point aside, the first phase of the mission proved to be one of the most tedious and most difficult days. Earth Prime, 210109.11, early morning…a jet plane heads for the first tower and stops just three meters short of the windows. Time frozen, we began. We moved into the building, floor by floor, from the point of impact heading upward. Samples of DNA were taken from every single person, both on the plane and in the building. People on the ground who died as a result of falling debris were also sampled. Data about all interior objects, building structure, and positions were taken. Duplication began first with the upper third of the building, then interior objects, and finally people. Temporal proceeded to remove the upper third of the building from three floors below the point of impact to the roof, and transplanted this portion through our intricate systems of inter-dimensional portals to a vacant lot on Earth II. From Earth II, an exact copy of victims, building, and plane were transplanted onto the remaining structure on Earth Prime. While this may seem somewhat easy for us, all of phase one took two weeks to complete. We started phase two mid phase one.

Phase two involved performing the exact same procedures as phase one using the second tower, except this time we had jumpers to deal with from the first tower as well. This aspect of phase two extended it by another week. One month later, phase one and two complete, both sections of the tower—still in time freeze—rest in suspended animation in a Temporal lot on Earth II. Now, placing anything in time freeze for extended periods of time causes great deterioration to the body and structures, to both those not experiencing the suspension and those experiencing it. After two weeks of phase one, we had to start releasing controlled freezes, allowing one nanosecond to elapse every three hours before continuing in order to preserve all vital signs including those of the terrorists.

Phase three took us to the Pentagon where we proceeded to reverse time and start rescue procedures for the planes and the office workers at the Pentagon. Same process as phase one and two, but we couldn’t save the office workers. Time had so greatly degraded as a result of phases one and two that we were unable to preserve the Pentagon office workers. Original workers would not survive an hour past rescue. Phase three rescued the plane yet lost an unfortunate amount of office workers. We don’t have the power to do everything. Phase three lasted three weeks bringing our total time to just over a month and a half.

Phase four of the mission, now dubbed Operation Earth Preserve, involved catching the wayward plane that crashed landed in the clearing killing all onboard. Since a whole month and a half had passed since the incident had occurred, that area involved using a time reversal to recreate the plane from its pieces, then suspend time just twenty feet from plane impact. Fortunately, due to the lengthy passage of time and substantial distance from the first three attacks, we did manage to rescue everyone and everything onboard. The Admiral felt that the terrorist should not be cloned, and should be left to die with the clones. Per his orders, we killed both the originals and clones we had made of the terrorist attackers on all planes. Phase four proved to be slightly more difficult than the previous phases because of the elapsed time between rescue efforts. Trying to reverse time in a whole state and then suspending it just under two months from a major incident in the time-space continuum proves to be a great hardship when many of the vital energy sign had drastically degraded. Unlike the Pentagon incident, the plane and its occupants had enough vital energy remaining during our lengthy and painstaking procedure that saving every person on board was not a complete problem. Cloning the plane was the problem. Two weeks later, another jet plane was brought in—borrowed from a nearby airport—filled with our clones and the original terrorists, and the original plane with original passengers sans the terrorists was relocated to the lot on Earth II. Total time elapsed, just over two months. I’m sure by this time you may feel that we’ve actually served no justice to those who survived and their families on Earth Prime, but give us time to explain ourselves. All will make sense in time.

After each phase, time was allowed to resume so that the course of history could continue practically uninterrupted. Every person that you thought died that day in fact hadn’t. Every jumper, every firefighter, every office worker, every bird, every animal, every speck of insignificant dust, everything relocated and saved. After phase four, when the first tower fell, a time freeze was enacted in mid-collapse. Our rescue team searched through the collapsing building for any people that may be trapped or that would have died. We moved forward in time, analyzed all possible outcomes, and rescued anyone that would definitely not survive. In one of the towers, our analysis showed that a woman on the stairwell would survive her twenty-story drop, being buried for days, and come out rescued by several firemen. Per that analysis, we left her behind only with a cloaked life-support system to ensure that she did survive a number of days. Every day after being buried alive, a Temporal medical officer was dispatched to check on her vitals, and ensure her survival up until she was rescued. The same was performed for countless other who continue to live on Earth Prime as survivors of a national tragedy, despite the fact that what they perceived to be angels were actually AstroCommand officers performing great duties.

Again, I'm using this area as a discussion board for anything in the storylines that might need explaining, or if you think your character just wouldn't act the way I've written. Basically, this forum is a sounding board for my series of intertwined stories.

If you're confused about all my stories, I'll give you a quick overview:

There all connected to each other. They all occur (at least once I update them all to catch up) at the same time, on the same island, on the same planet. Characters impact each other's stories, but in order to get the full story you have to read them all to get an idea of what the other characters may or may not know.

For example, in Darkness: Pathetique, Ryan was on his way to meet up with Crystle and Tom from Showers, but was impeded by something that is the aftereffect of something that will happen in Boundaries Unseen but hasn't yet. As a result, Tom and Crystle discover Ryan's empty car, but before this are blinded momentarily by an extremely bright light...the product of Pat's mind from Domain. And so, and so forth.

While the reader may know what's going on, sometimes the characters won't. On top of that, each story has its own plot to work with along with the major plot that all the stories share.

Index of Works
Boundaries Unseen
Dark Diaries
Darkness: Pathetique
Domain
Paradox Island
Showers

Now, someone reply and I can give a quick storyline background including island schematics and key races on the planet. A quick history on the Mainland, GlobalNet, and other important things you'll encounter. And, if you have any questions, let me know. If you want to, I can even insert you as a minor character to make a minor appearance that could be instrumental in the plot...Maybe.

You may have stumbled upon a new fad, if its not already being practiced, for bodybuilding and healthy nut person types. Watch out, or you'll start seeing your idea on store shelves.
