QRIO was also going to be marketed at about $5000 per robot. But, the project was pulled from commercial production until more research could be made into possibly integrating the robot tech into something bigger and more useful. About the size of ASIMO, but retain the same functionality as that of QRIO.
This Engadget article talks about Sony killing the AIBO and QRIO projects. Something ASIMO doesn't do, Tai Chi: QRIO was originally designed to be a companion robot, with the ability to connect to your network's WIFI, download and read your e-mail, RSS Feeds, or other items to you, interact and play games, and be a mini-butler. I remember the story about that guy with the mecha, but never heard anything beyond that he was merely building one. I didn't realize that he had succeeded in getting the thing to work.
I'd prefer the robotics to be fluid, but not too humanistic. I'd want a QRIO if it wasn't for the expense price, that is. |

Best Buy tends to want stupid people they can train (hence, my AS in Computer Science was an overqualification).
Retail is always a good min wage thing, if you're going for that. Personally, I've never held a position below $8 per hour. Disney was $9.10 when I left. I make $18/hour now working on cell phone games. $27/hour when I'm on overtime. But, Career Builder is a good one for a few of the lower category jobs. Local newspaper and just doing a walk-in to places is fine too. Or, if you have much of a resume, toss one together and create a Monster account. Maybe LinkedIn when you get a bit more experience. Make the companies come to you, and such. Hey, is that 17,000-mile oil any good to put in a car that hasn't had synthetic ever, and has about 37,000 miles on it? |

Haven't fallen off the face of the planet, but people tell me I'm cute. I don't see it:
All images: meh...I did lose 14 lbs in four months, but I still feel fat. Must be the girliness in me. (Last edited by BREW Ninja on 12-04-07 07:16 AM) |

I was doing things on Day of the Ninja, but mostly at work:
Can't be BREW Ninja and not celebrate DotN. Anyway, spent most of the day wondering where my ninja star was at. A few coworkers took it, and I got it back a few hours later, with a tip missing and a bit of blood on it. Hopefully, I don't get pinned for anything. |

Applying for TSA can't hurt either. I mean, you'll get to be a Fed (a low one, at that), but you'll have full medical, dental, insurance, life insurance, and a US Federal Agent ID Card. It'll probably make you really bitter and make you hate all travelers, but hey, what's life like if you don't end up hating someone. And, you'll have a nice pension going for retirement, or cashing out when you've separated.
And, you'll get that awesome rent-a-cop uniform. Or, Postal Worker. Those are Federal positions as well. Check with your city government too. I know that the City of Los Angeles is constantly hiring based on opening they have all over the city, ranging from $20,000/year positions as County Clerk to the higher $70,000 for Police Detective. |

Dell WoW Laptop
Our IT guy found this: You know, just in case you were unable to think of something awesome to beg the friends/parents for the holidays. That's if you're willing to pay $4,499 for a laptop computer. I'd want to be able to hack the Pentagon if I'm shelling out that much. Except, that I would pay that much for a Toughbook computer... But, that's just me. Now, where's our WoW edition automobile? Hey, hey. I have different eye candy now, but you were one of them, way back in the day. Well, I guess you still could be, but I'm too preoccupied with creating Kamehamehas on YouTube to actually care. What was I talking about?
Oh, happy belated or actual Spawn-Day. I'm only about a year behind you, so I don't feel any younger/older/Stargate. NyQuil? Just in case you're wondering, here's the link to the kamehameha spoof commercial thing I made one evening. Should work on a better one, but I don't have the head (budget or video) for it. Got four other projects...HaPPY BirfDAY!! |

And, no I'm not that excited, they just have an exclamation point in their name.
Anyway, for those of you that didn't know. The BREW Ninja lost his job in April after the company downsized 80% of the total workforce, which included all of my friends and my roommate. I then went onto working for a company I hate, and that has a really bad rap in the industry. So bad that my recruiters suggested that I not put it on my resume, and that I take it off my LinkedIn profile. That bad. My mistake, someone should have told me before I agreed to take on the position. That aside, I was successfully hired to start working at Yahoo! on July 1st. So, as I often tell people, don't let anyone tell you that you can't make money playing video games all day. I'm starting a Mobile QA Engineer for their server-side based mobile applications on both iPhone and mainstream handsets, and earning about $42,000 a year for this position. It's not a lot, but it far exceeds the median for similar positions in my field. And, all I really needed was a knowledge of the mobile industry (3.5 years), Perl, PHP, SQL and UNIX. Which means, I know a lot of you kids out there that are trying to do the gaming industry that far exceed my skills in the above listed areas. But, you kind of have to live in California or Washington or somewhere where all the gaming companies happen. Anyway, thought I'd share since I haven't visited the board in a long time. |

Was bored.
Did this: and this: I was going for the GTA IV style art, but have yet to perfect it. Still working on it, but I'd like a better pose first. My left hand gun looks off. |

Oh dear Timelord, I'm kind of excited and saddened at the same time. But, maybe, I'm just alienated and jaded because I'm an adult-type thing.
Almost makes me wish I hadn't retired my Zabuza cosplay, but I don't really feel like doing it anymore. I just can't compete with the hardcore Narutards. Although, I was doing it a year before it came to America. Anyway, rant aside, I still want to film something that isn't my "Adventures of a Gay Man" or the "BREW Ninja" episodes. |

Hey!
I watch Spongebob every morning before work, and every evening when I come back from work. Yes, I know I'm 26 years old, but even I like watching things I don't have to think about in the afternoon and mornings when I'm resting/preparing for/from work/hell hole. Still, thank you for the foreign language trainer, I needed that for stuff. (Last edited by BREW Ninja on 06-17-08 01:20 PM) |

They fixed the memory leak thing that was happening in FF2, so now it doesn't take up as much memory as it did before. I have mine on all day, and I'm averaging 56MB as opposed to the 300MB I just to incur before the memory leak was fixed.
It doesn't take that long to start up for me, but if you think about it, IE starts up faster because it's integrated into Windows. Also, if you're worried about pages that only support IE, Firefox has an add-on for IE called IE-tab. It renders pages using the IE engine so you never have to leave Firefox except for those really stubborn pages that just have to have authentic IE. For some reason, though, my computer never liked running IE. I have more trouble in IE than I've ever had with Firefox. After downloading the updates and changing the theme to match Thunderbird, I love Firefox 3. It is faster, it doesn't incur much memory allocation (again that memory leak fix), and it seems to have become more intuitive to the standard surfing experience. That, and Firefox is my browser of choice because of its add-ons. I have several tools that I need for work installed in Firefox that I couldn't otherwise find for IE. And, I hate Microsuck. |

Because it's you and Star Wars, I actually lost interest quite quickly.
I miss playing chess, but good show. I never liked your editing/filming style, so that's just me. Otherwise *thumbs up*. Well, I'm off to film my videoblog and possibly "BREW Ninja", although that production keeps being pushed back because I feel fat in my BREW Ninja gear. |

Whoa, quite the shocker. I, too, was expecting a Rickroll.
That's just...wow. Wonder what that will do to his career? Will he be forgotten, or will it just become better in his absence? I mean, like how painters become more popular after their deaths... |

I thought this was going to be a reference revival thread to that novel I never re-wrote. And the sequel I never finished, and the RP that sucked. |

At A Life 4 Sale, Australian man Ian Usher is selling his life on eBay.
BBC Article eBay Auction Page His life is at about AU$ 311,000. Up for auction is his three-bedroom home in the western Australian city and everything inside it, including his car, motorcycle, jet ski and parachuting gear. This includes all of his friends as well. Mr Usher said: "Everything that I have - the furniture in the house - all has memories attached to it. It's time to shed the old, and in with the new. "On the day it's all sold and settled, I intend to walk out of my front door with my wallet in one pocket and my passport in the other, nothing else at all. "My current thoughts are to then head to the airport and ask at the flight desk where the next flight with an available seat goes to, and to get on that and see where life takes me from there." I wish I could just walk out on life, auction off my life and go somewhere. But, I'd need at least $300,000 USD to accomplish that, taking care of all my debts, the lease on the apartment, and having a bit left over for travel and investments and securing a new life. Although, I don't own much and I don't think I could part with my minivan. Thoughts? Would you auction away (if you owned something substantial) your entire life to start anew? |

Have you ever actually hated your job. Like, I mean, completely detest all the people there, the processes, your desk, the office, the whole "system", and getting up in the morning?
I'm in that boat right now. And while I only have three days left until I leave and start at Yahoo, I hate this job. It's hard to explain to the younger generation, but I'll try anyway. A little background first: I'm a software quality assurance engineer for a mobile (cell phone) wallpapers and ringtones company (FunMobility). I'm in the gaming industry kind of, falling more in entertainment now. It just gets me into Comic Con and WonderCon for free. Anyway, I had to take on this job when my career move (physically, I moved to NorCal) fell through. The company laid off 38 of us, 55 total employees. Ok, gritty aside. I fucking hate work for FunMobility. There is no freakin' structure. It's like working for a company that's a chicken with its head cut off and driving on the freeway the wrong way during rush hour on New Year's Eve. I spend my time now avoiding work, and I can't quit early because I have rent coming up. It makes me really depressed to have to come here everyday until Friday, and even worse the last two months. I'm used to being worked to my full capacity. I work on one phone per day, and it's fucking long and annoying to have to stretch that phone over the whole day. On top of that, I never know what's going on with anything. I don't know when I have work, I don't know when work is done, I don't know what happens to projects I've worked on. Besides the money, I think the only thing that kept me here was free lunch twice a week. (I earn $18/hour here, in case you're wondering; I'll be making $22/hour when I go to Yahoo.) I hate that my coworkers constantly ask me for answers to the simplest questions that they should fucking know. How the hell did they get hired, and more important, how are they still employed? I have one coworker that thinks she's my friend, but she doesn't even know I'm gay. All of my friends know that. And, just because we carpool does not make us friends. She's just supplement to paying gas for the minivan, and the whole saving the environment thing. She says that I have to come back and visit her from time to time. Um, no. And, I'm not going to break her bubble and let her know that a) I'm gay (she brings up marriage a lot), and b) I have no intentions of visiting her outside of an IM conversation. I mean, really. Like a fucking question every ten minutes. For nine hours (1 hour is lunch), every fucking day. It drives me crazy. It's like they all fear for their jobs and don't want to do things when they find something wrong with the code. Ah, I don't know. I guess, I should be glad that I'm leaving in three days, that San Francisco Pride is this weekend, and that my friend asked me to be a witness to his wedding at SF City Hall this Friday. But, it's just utter torture. Ok, rant done. |

Speaking of memory stability, some guy created a tool that tracks memory usage across five major browsers and found that FF3 is actually the better choice when compared to IE8:
