Plus which, Paper Mario was an RPG, so I'm not sure how much it qualifies as a sidescroller to begin with.

Ah well. Even if we run out of new sidescrollers... there's always romhacking. It'd be a shame to see them no longer made, true, but... times change. Some of us wouldn't be happy about it, but we'll have to live with it if it does happen.

Of course, I'm more of a strategy RPG person, myself, so I guess it doesn't bother me as much.

Adelphia Cable. We also get our cable TV through them, which saves some money. Not a bad service, works good for playing online games and has fast downloads.

It sounds like the Sega CD version of Lunar 2 was x10 harder than the one for PS because I had no problems at all with any of the bosses in that game. Also I though it was for the Saturn not CD?
Eh, Zophar gave me some serious problems, but I think I was just a tad underleveled. Talked to one person who beat him and had problems, she was L65... yeah, I was only L55.

Now, the PS version of Lunar was EASY.

Those bastard rabbits in some of the Zelda games. Until I realized that the Flute/Recorder/Ocarina/ThatGame'sChoiceInstrument was an instant kill. Darknuts in LoZ are a pain in the ass, too. They always turn at the most inopportune times.

And this is proof of how much I suck - I can't even beat two L9 computers. Of course, that might be because I just suck at larger matches; if I play a four player match with my friends, all of which (for purposes of this comparison) are equally skilled, I will do far worse than if I play one-on-one. Might be the small TV (13") and slight vision problems, though.

I suck with Link, even more than I suck with anyone else. I need speed and reach in melee attacks. Projectiles aren't as important, since I can always grab items. I use Marth almost exclusively, unless I'm playing with someone far less experienced than I am.

Xeo: Play with items on, and see where Link gets you that other characters can't. His projectiles are proven useless when you can pick up better ones, which leaves his melee power to be counted on - not good when he's not much faster (if at all) than Donkey Kong.

I'm sorry, but this simply is not my favorite Final Fantasy. FFT claims that spot. Wait, wait, don't hurt me! FF6 is second!

My only major complaint was that every character could, with a small amount of effort, have godlike stats. But, it's like that in most FFs that I've played (FFT being no exception, but that one requires a lot of work), so... Also, Ultima + Economizer + Gem Box... far too easy to get.

Hey, I just like finding problems with games. FFT has the most laughable translation in the history of Final Fantasy, for example, at least out of the many that I've played (FF1-10, FFT, FFTA). Aside from those problems, it was a very good game. It's too bad I have to play the slowass PSX version. Damn loading times.

Sore losers, it sounds like. Honestly, I do that every time, and it only causes arguments when I'm playing with a certain cousin of mine - who happens to be a sore loser. Some people are pretty good at avoiding that. Lure Samus into firing a Charge Shot, then jump/UpB away from it. Duck under Marth's Shield Breaker by grabbing the ledge from below, then rolling on instead of landing from above.

Airdodge? Timed jumps? Hell, I think some can be knocked away by certain UpB attacks.

Certain items can be cheap, I will admit. The Bob-omb, if it hits, is likely to be an instant kill if you have a reasonable amount of damage. Play for a while with items on, though, and learn how to dodge them, and they won't seem so cheap. Learn how to deflect or catch them, too.

... except that damned star. Invincibility sucks, massively. Explosive capsules are very strong, but somewhat rare. Hell, even the hammer has a disadvantage - aside from the lack of double/triplejump abilities, sometimes the head falls off. And you can't do crap about it, since you're swinging a useless stick around that does no damage at all. Someone else can walk right in, pick up the head of the hammer, and throw it at you.

But, hey, you want to keep playing without items, that's fine. I'm just pointing out that, if you practice with them on, they won't seem so bad. Of course, I would strongly recommend turning the Poke Ball off if you're on a small arena...

2. Screw the Pally Shield, get the Ragnarok Esper if you want Ultima. Much easier, and if you like magic you won't need the Ragnarok sword anyway. =/

Also 2: Pack a ribbon. *nods* Works just as well, and it's easier to find - you can get one in South Figaro, IIRC.

People around you who play Marth suck, by the sound of it. That's not what you do. You do a short hop and time an aerial down+a to prevent them from grabbing the ledge, knocking them down. L cancel so that if they meteor recover to can down+a again.
Xeo was commenting on charging attacks. I was replying.

No one around here plays Marth, except me. Not many people around here play any videogames, honestly. At least not many that I know. Cuts down on my practicing, too.

you can get 128 Mblock with certain characters, I've read.

I think that Evade/MBlock glitch may have been fixed in the PSX version, and there might be a patch for the rom that fixes it...
