You know, over the past few years, ever since the older tier of nieces and nephews got older (Because now, my two oldest sisters like to get THEM involved in their fights, which in turn has gotten ME involved a time or two, but only to walk in, bang some heads together and walk out with my smart-mouthed nieces and nephew and tell the "kids" that if they get involved in their mothers' bullshit and start acting like little shits to their other aunts who are good to them, I'll knock them out.) Thanksgiving has been the better of the two holidays. Everyone still gets along for the most part. 
By Christmas, its war it seems.  I don't even bother touching Black Friday sales with them, like they try to get me to do every year. But, I'm looking forward for today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!(Last edited by Katana on 11-28-13 10:28 AM) |

Honestly, if they wanted to narrow in on this kind of thing, why not make another channel? Personally, I don't mind having 40billion channels. I'd rather a channel for something I don't watch that something actually educational to change for the worse (as Elara has mentioned the many times she expressed distaste for the History Channel.) And didn't the Military Channel cover ALL sorts of military history? From a world history perspective as well? If that's the case, then I'd say its pretty relevant to keep the way it is. History is extensive. If these channels were going to be truly educational to the extent that they could be, then there really IS room for channels JUST dedicated to a specific era. Whole channels. (I also don't really understand how broadcasting works, so the cost of this may not be worth it, now that I think about it. **sigh** I'll quit here. |

This is only a national thing due to the implications it holds to the future. Right NOW, it is also MAJORLY local. Therefore, as Rogue has proven, there are plenty of more than intelligent people who would scratch their heads and go "so uh...what does this mean? It was a traffic jam. First you East Coasters are complaining about your "earth quake" and now you think you can hold a candle to the traffic we live with?" I'm poking a little fun, but in all seriousness, I think the writing on this topic is terrible everywhere I turn. I'd love to be corrected if I am wrong, but every time I read about this, he article is more about attacking Christie in general under the guise of a bridge situation. If they want to attack the guy, there are plenty of reasons to do so. He's a politician. They're all crooks. But in all seriousness, if they want to highlight how this is a future national problem should he get a nomination, people who are not local to the situation shouldn't have to separately google the location of this bridge and the demographics surrounding it to see the relevancy on this being an attempt at tampering with an election. Call the guy an asshole for purposely allowing a bridge to have that kind of issue? Fine. But don't start pointing fingers about an election issue without providing those demographics. Not that extra research shouldn't be encouraged, but what's the point in being able to research when the things you find don't highlight their headlined point?

| 12 years of Catholic School....I still use mine. :p Although in high school, they really didn't care. But I'm the kind of person who remembers shit after I've written it own once, so taking a crap ton of notes in class was my thing. Hardly ever had to study after and always aced everything. Needless to say, switching between printing and cursive helped with my sanity.
Speaking OF school... Remember when Friday and Saturday nights meant EVERYone was on here posting all night because we didn't have to go to school the next day?  (although I admit I'm not exactly disappointed that we all have things to do now. :p ) |

| WiiU is next on the list. My boyfriend got the PS4 at launch, but more Netflix has been going on with that machine while his dad plays CoD on it when we're not using it. Like you all have been saying, not that much of a library just yet. We're contemplating getting into FFXIV though. My nieces have a WiiU though and it is glorious. | |||

| Sweet potato fries with honey mustard, vanilla milkshake, chicken alfredo pizza (not too sure I'd ever get this again, but its what was brought home this evening.), and a plate full of bruschetta. RIght at this very moment.

| Ahahahahaha. COPS. I legitimately REALLY liked that show when I was like 5.
But honoring heroes is great, don't get me wrong. I wasn't an avid watcher of the military channel, but if I understand correctly, it was supposed to be like the history channel's intent, which was to mostly educate on things that happened. While one could argue that military history and US/World history are one in the same, as far as the idea of learning about the past, I could see why there'd be a separation. I think of it more or less as a category of information, but they still intertwine. |
