Well, you could always find a night job and cash in on your sleeping predicament.

Thought you'd appreciate that.
Good luck on the job hunt. Definitely sounds like a good opportunity. Wish I could find a job that works around my schedule. I need something that's really flexible when it comes to hours like a freelance thing. Maybe I'll see if my smalltown paper's got any openings. |

If I remember right, J.J. Abrams said he got the idea for it when he was in Japan and he and his son would go to various toy stores, checking out the Godzilla and other movie monster figures. He then decided that America needed it's own monster, so the Cloverfield thing is supposed to be his own creation.
When the trailer first appeared at the Transformers movie, rumors were going around that it was the Voltron movie. But why would Voltron rip the head off the Statue of Liberty? With J.J. Abrams, I really don't know. He could pull an M. Night Shyamalan on us and it's nothing special at all. Remember the man brought us Lost, Alias, and Felicity. |

There is a resemblance, I guess.
Voted yes, either way. |

I know it's going to suck. I'm counting on it. What hits me, though, is that I actually laugh watching the previews. I haven't done that since the original Scary Movie.
I don't go to see movies just because I think they'll be good. I go because I want to be entertained. Thinking it's actually worth recommending to people is a secondary issue. I truly think I can go see this movie and laugh my ass off. Perhaps even throw in there, "Damn this is a terrible movie, HAHAHAHAHA!!!" but above all I'd be paying good money to feel good. |

Now that's a random crossover. Guess they needed something other than a tournament of random fighters (which is pretty much every fighting game like it) trying to get to the sword.
I still think it's funny that when Kilik gets it, he only meditates over it in a cave. |

Probably not safe for work/parents/kids due to language. Otherwise there isn't any nudity or anything in it.

For some reason I've been feeling jet-lagged for the past few days.
The only time I left the timezone was in Arizona a couple weeks ago. Last week, when I was in San Francisco, I was in the same timezone. Dunno what's up. Probably because those past two weeks, plus the week prior to them, I'd been on the go and never really got to veg. |

I'd like to see Ron Paul win for the Republicans. He has a lot of progressive ideas and he's not afraid to speak his mind on some of the issues the other politicians tip-toe around and try to fluff up so people on both sides will like them.

I don't care what that fag thinks.
He's probably jerking it to jiggling animated cleavage right now. EDIT-- Note: And when I say "fag," I don't mean gay. I mean dick. We heteros are taking the word back. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-11-08 06:28 AM) |

Originally posted by Vulkar I consider myself much more liberal, but I really like Ron Paul. He used to run independent, but since independents rarely get any attention, he changed over to Republican. It's rather nuts to vote for someone just because they're the same party as you. I mean, I like Obama and all, but Ron Paul's my man. He's drawing support from everywhere. Brothel owners in Las Vegas are even gathering donations for his campaign. Bloggers are spreading the word. Even the most liberal are in love with this guy. Thing is my state's closing off the open primaries. You're only allowed to vote for people in your party. I think I am registered Republican, but I'll have to check. |

To be honest, I don't care if a president is pro-life or pro-choice so long as he doesn't touch the right for women to choose and the likelihood of a president being able to do it is extremely low.
It's somewhat comical how people use that as a ploy to defame someone like they committed some sort of scandal. "He might want to get rid of the IRS, the national ID, and fight endlessly to prevent WWIII, but he doesn't like abortions!!!" It was a Supreme Court ruling and presidents can't just cast it down. Granted Bush seems to be trying to chip away at it, flying over the Constitution like he and Cheney were driving the General Lee. EDIT: Oh and Cairoi, that wasn't a knock at you or your opinion. It's just that I've seen so many campaign ads take that stance and it's them that I'm attacking. Like the smear campaign ads with have some ominous voice drop in saying, "He doesn't support your right to choose. Are you going to let this brute in our White House? Oooooooo." Am for some reason having trouble posting. Occasionally the screen that I get right after posting saying that I cannot post to "$thread[title]"
Just testing to see if I can post now. EDIT: Seeing as it worked, I don't know what it was with the times it didn't. I wasn't trying to double-post, but then again I wasn't starting a thread like I did here either. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-11-08 09:26 PM) |

So apparently starting this weekend, some of the head honchos of various production companies are going on vacation to a health spa in Arizona while the WGA are pounding the pavement in front of the gates and buildings of studios all around the entertainment world.
Those leaving are the very same producers who walked out on the negotiations with the WGA while the writers were formulating a new deal--all the producers were doing was rejecting the writers' demands while not imputing any constructive deals themselves. United Hollywood covers the producers' get-away pretty well: http://unitedhollywood.blogspot.com/2008/01/hollywood-suffers-viacom-spas.html So we're 3 months into the strike, the writers off their Christmas hiatus and back to picketing around Hollywood. Which reminds me, did anyone hear about the writer getting attacked in front of Fox this week? Apparently since the proverbial lay-off clock for the other studio crew workers has been ticking, someone got out of their SUV at the gate and started shoving this writer (ironically for Law & Order) into the street. He wasn't injured, but the studio guards neglected to even come to help despite strike captains demanding their attention. It's crazy out there. Here's the current picket schedule if you're interested: http://www.wga.org/subpage_member.aspx?id=2536 Easy way to meet the people who create the things you love. I was going to hit up NBC/Universal today, but got up late. Maybe I'll go on my birthday. |

1. What was the highlight of your week?
- If the week starts from last Friday, I was in San Francisco with Brandon and staying with Lee. We ate at Chinatown and Pier 39, hit up places like the Academy of Sciences, Metreon, Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Park, and Musee Mecanique, explored caves, and then flew home on the new Virgin America fleet. The next night after getting home, Voidcrush had a show at Anarachy Library. 2. Who's car were you last in? - Brandon's and mine. We share a Volvo. 3. When is the next time you will kiss someone? - In a few minutes. I'm doing this and Brandon's recording right now. 4. What color shirt are you wearing? - The tank top I've got on is sort of a dark purple-magenta. 5. Last movie you watched? - And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself. 6. What's the wallpaper on your phone? - A close-up shot of Laughing Sally's face. Laughing Sally being this creepy 1930s arcade game--not really the word for it. Like a fortune teller or player piano, you put a quarter in and it does something. In Laughing Sally's case it's this really frightening laugh. YouTube footage of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ih5zrr7RRAA. 7. Do you meditate? - I used to practice zazen from time to time with my non-western philosophy class, but I don't meditate much these days. 8. Last bone you broke? - Thankfully have never broken any bones. Sprained a few things, but haven't broken any. 9. Last thing you ate? - A shredded beef burrito. 10. Last thing you drank? - Pepsi. 11. Where did you sleep last night? - In my bed, with Brandon. 12. Your default ringtone? - Flogging Molly's "Seven Deadly Sins" 13. Are you happy right now? - I'm content. 14. What did you say last? - "Why'd it get faster?" (In reference to the metronome on Brandon's computer that he's playing to keep in time. For some reason the metronome sped up its tempo while he was recording) 15. Where is your phone? - In the left-leg pocket of the cargo pants I'm wearing. 16. What was the last museum you went to? - The last official museum would be the California Academy of Sciences, but the old bath house ruins, Golden Gate Park botanical gardens, and Musee Mecanique could be construed living museums. 17. What color are your eyes? - Brown. 18. Have you ever been good at hackey sack? - Never really got into playing it. 19. Who came over last? - Lee. Brandon lives here, so he doesn't count. 20. Straight/bi/gay/lesbian? - Straight. 21. Who/what do you hate currently? - Don't really hate anything right now. Well, that's not true. I do hate how much money things are right now, specifically gasoline. 22. Last tv show you watched? - King of the Hill's on right now. 23. If you could have one person right now with you who would it be? - My cat, Harrison. He disappeared one day and we never found out what happened to him. I always miss him. 24. whats your favorite store? - Cost Plus World Market. They tend to be rather pretentious these days, though. 25. Who makes you happiest right now? - Brandon. 26. What were you doing at midnight last night? - Sleeping. I think I fell asleep around 10:30. Was tired. 27. Were's your calender? - I have one online, one hanging in my room, one hanging in the bathroom upstairs and one hanging in the guest bathroom downstairs. 28. Last time you ate a muffin? - Last night. 29. Quilted or unquilted toilet paper? - Quilted. 30. Next thing you'll be going to wear a costume to? - Probably faire in a few months. 31. How long is your hair? - Around a foot and a half long. 32. What's for dinner tonight? - Don't know. My parents usually get to decide since my dad often as a diabetic he can't eat at many places or prepare many things. 33. What is the last alcoholic beverage you had? - Tecate. At a Christmas party several weeks ago. 34. When is your birthday? - Next week. 35. Last foreign film you saw? - Saw Amelie at Lee's last week. 36. Who was the last person to send you a text message? - Some porn spam site. Seriously. 37. When is the last time you were in a swimming pool? - Good question. I really can't remember. 38. Do you play any instrments? - Trying to get Brandon to teach me how to play guitar. Otherwise I've taken violin and piano lessons, but I don't play either well. 39. Where was the last place you went shopping? - Pavilion's last night. 40. How do you feel about your hair right now? - It's soft and clean and wavy. And for some reason the color is really lightening. 41. Last party? - Voidcrush's New Year's gathering at Rick's house. 42. AIM or MSN? - I tend to use AIM more. 43. Are you an only child or do you have siblings? - Only child. 48. Would you consider yourself to be spoiled? - A little more so than average. I have a lot more freedom than most with their parents, but it's not like they buy me whatever I want or anything like that. 49. What was the first thing you did when you woke up? - Check my mail, the board, and LiveJournal. 50. What is your favorite Shakespeare play? - Much Ado About Nothing. 51. Do you do any volunteer work? - I used to all the time, but lately it's the occasional beach clean-up or Special Olympics volunteering gig. Used to volunteer for my city's performing arts center, was the activities planner for a convalescent hospital, and was a junior steward at the local wetlands. Maybe I should volunteer again. 52. Myspace or Facebook? - Neither. 53. Do you have T-Mobile? - No. 54. What is/was your favorite subject in school? - Philosophy or English. 55. What type of guy/girl do you usually fall for? - The geeky ones. 56. Have you ever babysat for someone? - Yes, but I've never been paid for it. 57. Do you have any talents? - I have the very odd ability of affecting what's on TV, at least it seems like it. I'll talk about an episode of some show and that episode will be on that night. No show that I watch continuously is ever canceled--it's when I lose interest or don't catch the show as often that the show disappears. If this ever happens, it's EXTREMELY rare. Now for an actual talent... well, I can pick on things really quickly, I suppose. Don't know. I really don't have anything that I can exhibit in a talent show. 58. Have you ever been in a wedding? - I was a junior bride's maid for my uncle's wedding. And whenever Christina gets hitched, I'm her maid/matron of honor. 59. What were you in a past life? - Hell if I know. I'm pretty sure I was a bordello proprietor though. 60. Did you take a nap today? - Nope. 61. Ever met someone famous? - Several. 62. Do you remember Xuxa? - HAHA! Yeah, I just remember seeing her show and thinking it was kinda crazy. But then again I was 7 or 8. 63. Do you want to be famous one day? - It'd be nice, but I'll still like to be a private citizen. 64. Are your parents still together? - Yes. 65. Are you multitasking right now? - I'm watching TV, typing this, talking to Brandon, and composing an e-mail, so no, not really. 66. Could you handle being in the military? - Sure, but I'd rather not. 67. Do you believe in Karma? - Yes, but most people seem to think that it's a what-goes-around-comes-around deal in this lifetime when really it affects your next one. 68. If you're female, what color are your nails right now? - The color they always are, my skintone. 69. What are your plans for tomorrow? - not sure, I was thinking about heading down to one of the pickets in Hollywood. 70. Favorite tv shows? - Heroes, Xena, My Name is Earl, Firefly, Mythbusters, Adventures of Sinbad, Extreme Ghostbusters, Hercules, and a whole bunch of other shows that have since been canceled. 71. Ever been to another continent? - Yes. 72. Ever been to Las Vegas? - Yes. 73. What are you doing today? - Don't know. I just spent the morning getting a little exercise after waking up later to find no one home (So much for getting a ride to the train station) and watching "And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself." 74. Ever been gambling? - Yes, but only a little. I've probably only lost $5 gambling. 75. When is the last time you updated your blog? - Yesterday. 76. Stupidest thing you ever did with your cell phone? - Haven't really done anything stupid with it. 83. Last time you were sick? - I think around late November or early December. 84. Do you like anyone right now? - My boyfriend. |
