| I thought it was funny that they had to choose a model, whose ribs you can almost count, to make this look good for people.
Not being a very thin person myself, I'd really hate to see this on a larger woman. Anyway, taking this to a slightly more serious note, would this be considered a new justification for rape? You know, when a woman wears short skirts or low-neckline blouses, often people blame the victim and say she had it coming for dressing like that. These pants are designed for the wearer to not wear any underwear, and some pervert might assault someone wearing these. Seriously, I really hope this doesn't hit the shelves AT ALL. The bottom line is they're just too stupid looking. But like I said, L.A. would actually go for this kinda of thing, especially with summer on the horizon. Well, this is coming out in a little less that 2 weeks. First of all, I am a tad interested in seeing it, but I'm concerned. Is it just me or are the Wachowskis just making variants on comics and anime (Matrix is HEAVILY anime-influenced afterall)? I mean, V for Vendetta was decent, but Alan Moore was pissed with the spin they put on it and detracted his name from the movie. Well, how bad can they screw up Speed Racer? It looks pretty good to be honest. They had the Mach 5 on display in Long Beach a couple weekends ago and I seriously tingled looking at it. The only piece that weirds me out, though, is Christina Ricci as Trixie. It just doesn't click for me.  |

Yeah, Alan Moore's never really been a fan of movies based on his work. A trait which has rubbed off on Neil Gaiman who adamantly refuses to have a Sandman movie made for fear of a bad one turning out.

Alan really did get screwed with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Definitely. I read the first of the two volumes in the graphic novel series (it's the only one the my library had). It's barely the same story. The characters' personalities were drastically different with characters added here and there (Dorian Gray wasn't in the first volume, which the movie was based on. No sign of Tom Sawyer AT ALL). Supposedly that was the one that made him want to drop his name from any movies made based on his work. I don't recall what he thought of From Hell. With V for Vendetta, the Wachowskis turned it more into a political statement about the current goings-on in the U.S., which Moore has said he believes they've done and to him it ruined a statement he was making about England. But back to Speed Racer, something that wasn't written by our beloved Alan Moore (it's too colorful to be by him  ), I can't believe they kept Chim-Chim in.

Finished the first volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, as well as the Marvel Civil War off-shoots for Runaways & Young Avengers and X-men.

Still waiting on my copy of Usagi Yojimbo #4 to arrive at my library on-loan from another somewhere. Will probably go through Frank Miller's Batman Year One in a few minutes. Also just read the first volume of Cromartie High School. Yeah, I know, manga's a quick read.

Heh, but seriously, I had that issue when Darkslaya mentioned it a week ago (It said I had 0 private messages and then it would flash the number I actually had. Sometimes it would say I has 3 new PMs when there weren't any. This also went along with the fact that my PMs weren't going through to anyone), but I haven't had the issue since.
