Originally posted by Katana Heh, I didn't even get around to posting a quarter of the pictures I took at last year's. Here's what made it to LiveJournal: http://merry-rogue.livejournal.com/147808.html The rest are slowly disappearing off my Flickr account (since they only let you have 200 pics at a time): http://flickr.com/photos/merryrogue/page10/ Also forgot to mention hitting up Koroneburg sometime in the next month. It's a smaller Renaissance faire than the SoCal Renfaire, but it's still really fun and most things there are cheaper. Belial: Ah, snowbirds how I hate 'em. Although this is probably going to sound hypocritical coming from someone who's native to Los Angeles County (where we definitely get our share of tourists), it seems like every time I'm in Arizona (where the boyfriend-person's family lives and I almost call my second home with how often we're over there), we gotta put up with a lot of bullshit from snowbirds. Especially the ones heading for Sedona to sip wine and look at the rock formations. Kinda funny that they come to Arizona in the winter when it's near freezing most of that time of year anyway. |

When reading your fortune in a fortune cookie, try tacking on "in bed" at the end.
|
Not funny enough? Try tacking on "EXCEPT in bed." Now to kill time when stuck in traffic, put "Anal" in front of the name of the car in front of you. Sure Anal Corolla is confusing. As are Anal Volvo, Anal Passat, Anal Pinto, and Anal Porsche. But just wait until you're behind a Probe. Or a Navigator. Or a Fiesta. Or a Cavalier. Or possibly even a Gremlin. My gift to you.

I don't know why it is, but sometimes right after I post or when I click a link in the Online Users, I occasionally am automatically logged out.
|
It doesn't give a logout screen. I just notice I'm no longer signed in. Weird. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-20-08 12:59 AM)

If I'm not mistaken, the McChicken sandwich is pretty much a bigger McNugget -- which is just chicken that's been ground up and processed back together using fat to emulsify it and make it all one piece as though it were a piece of straight chicken breast.
|
The southern style is supposedly an actual piece of chicken. I honestly can't remember as it's been more than 2 weeks since I had one.

Odd thing about that.

It happens occasionally when I'm at home, but it happened a lot when I was at the library today (where I started this thread).

When Brandon and I first started playing that, the first car that had popped into my head was that Mercedes model, the Kompressor. Sounds like it'd hurt. A lot.
|
It's kinda funny when you get things like Dodge Ram -- you can makes statements like, "If you haven't perfected your Anal Dodge, be ready for the Anal Ram." You also have those new cars out on the road -- the Mitsubishi Raider, Nissan Rogue (it does it from behind), and the Ford Flex. EDIT: Brandon and I drive a Volvo with a series of letters and numbers as its name. Unfortunately nothing humorous. Junkie drives an Anal Frontier, though. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-20-08 12:01 PM)

Yep, not surprised.

Scientology's claiming a lot of Hollywood's "elite." Aside from Jason Lee and Nancy Cartwright, they haven't really claimed anyone I'm into. Why, Jason, WHY?!?!?!?! Eh, oh well.

As a lifelong Indy fan, I can say the new movie was enjoyable, but it felt like watching the other three movies ground up and with a couple slivers of the same sight-gags and lines thrown together.
|
A lot of it was really predictable, but oh well. Also 20 years time between the start of this all and now has taken away a lot of the intensity in Indy and Marion--they almost come out off like bad impersonations of themselves. In the end, it's a good movie with a decent new story, though I'm not really big on what it all was about... Spoiler:
Aliens EDIT: Last night, while sitting down to dinner with my parents at this restaurant, I had picked up the local paper for the area that place was in and read their ultimately negative review of Indy. They described it as National Treasure meets The X-Files. I couldn't agree more. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-23-08 01:30 PM)

Whoa, Kyoku. You REALLY don't look 15.

Honestly you look 25, possibly even older.

So yeah, these are getting kinda old, but oh well.

Though they didn't really do much with this, it's still pretty amusing.

Wow, I'm surprised it actually tagged me with something. Usually I get the "You don't have an accent!" or "You're just neutral" which means someone from California made the quiz and therefore it's biased and no fun at all.
|
But not surprised at what I got. What American accent do you have? Created by Xavier on Memegen.net Western. Like Midland, Western is another accent that people consider neutral. So, you might not actually be from the Western half of the country, but you definitely sound like it. Take this quiz now - it's easy!

Picture taken from this article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/05/12/AR2005051202002.html While looking up articles on my boyfriend's uncle's friend (yeah, that sounds complicated, but I know her like she's an aunt or something) who was supposedly one of the first women assigned to combat duty, I found this one. It's not necessarily the article I find intriguing so much as her helmet. I felt like I was looking at a kindred spirit. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-24-08 08:18 PM)

Yeah, I know, MAJOR BUMPAGE.
|
But I had to write this somewhere or I'd explode and I couldn't find the dream thread we had some time ago. I just woke up from this dream where I was working in a movie production company of some sort. Everyone was dressed and looked like they stepped out of the '30s and '40s. One of our main actresses was a very young Dakota Fanning who made us stop filming so she could try to kill herself--by jumping off a one-story house. I yell for one of my assistants to get me a pillow. Somehow she fails at doing it and wobbles by me with a jack-o-lantern on her head as I jokingly try to catch her and smother her with the pillow. Anyway, our wrap party has this band that's a mixture of jazz and ska, with a blind sound technician whose equipment was on a circular and completely lit stage behind the band. The sound tech, who was never allowed to sit and would occasionally drift about the sound board making adjustments on the many sliders, knobs and buttons, was also a revolving stage and occasionally turned very quickly and stopped suddenly, throwing the blind tech about every now and then. Of all the random things in the dream, this is the minor part I want to remember: someone whom I was speaking with brought up that we left a lot things out of the movie, though we'd shot and had so much done. And I said, "Oh yes, the singing and dancing anus. It cost so much to CG." All right, now that it's out of me I can go back to sleep and not worry about forgetting it.

I wasn't attacking the latest on realism--but seriously when are you going to see people melt like sno-cones or continue living despite having their heart pulled out or age REALLY REALLY quickly?
|
No, this one just took the franchise and ran off with it in a direction that made me almost die a little inside. They chose THAT script?! Of all the scenarios, of all the endings, of all the artifacts to go after? REALLY? Another thing that makes me slightly sad is how this just fell into a formula based on the past flicks--everyone pretty much just fell into place in a flat and ultra-predictable way. Just look for the cliche archetypes. They're seriously there. Like I said, I enjoyed it. That's all I can say. To an extent I enjoy most movies though. But seriously the whole balance of "This is kinda good" and "Oh god, why?!" completely falls apart the second Shia grabs onto that second vine and starts swinging. In that very instant the movie began its descent into a downward spiral. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-26-08 03:20 AM)

Why the hell are the primaries and delegate-gathering taking so long? The election's in November and we don't have a solid idea of who the candidates are.
|
Since Ron Paul doesn't seem to stand a chance, although in some of these late primaries he's actually gotten upwards of 26% of the Republican vote, I've already decided to vote for whomever is running on the Dem-ticket. Nagis, what I can definitely see happening is that McCain will win because you get that good number of people who see a white Christian man (your run-of-the-mill WASP), a black man (who so many are trying to tag as a Muslim as though it's a bad thing if he were) and a woman and stuff the ballot box with the one thing they're comfortable with--the same, old status quo. I personally cannot stand McCain. He's practically another Bush, but combined with the traits that people loved to nitpick with Kerry: he's a flip-flopping veteran. If you ever keep track of the things he says, you can count the seconds 'til he completely changes his opinion and contradicts what he initially said. And who could forget his Iraq was a cake-walk get-in-get-out speeches to the press that suddenly turned into his now-famous "Oops, looks like Iraq is our 100-Years-War." Various videos of him saying we should maintain a 100 year presence, because he believes that so long as Americans aren't getting killed it's fine to stay there for "10,000 years": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFknKVjuyNk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJWoGulgbec And do check this out. IGNORE the writing in between the clips . That's someone injecting their opinion and while I agree, I want to present this somewhat objectively. Here are various things McCain is telling us, as a people, and how others analyze what he says and does: To argue that we've had a presence in Japan, Germany, South Korea and so on that McCain says we have so we should stay in Iraq for 100 years: Those countries are our allies. Iraq is not our ally and probably won't be for QUITE some time, hence why others are arguing that this would just continue a hostile situation which will lead to a 100-Years-War and inevitably McCain would steer the U.S. to war with Iran. On top of that those bases and such (as well as one in Turkey and other countries) are there so that if something that needs the U.S.' attention in those areas of the world, American troops are there to assist and won't have to come from the other side of the world. And here's a video that goes issue by issue on things he says and later waffles on. Again I ask you to please concentrate on the clips and what he says: I'm sure there are several videos people could pull out about Hillary and Obama. Hell, Stan Lee (the creator of many Marvel comics heroes like the X-Men, Hulk, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, Spider-man, etc) was featured in a few videos recently for his testifying to never giving money to Hillary's campaign. In an effort to hide where money came from for her campaign, her people claimed Stan Lee donated $200,000 to her cause. Obviously very rarely is a candidate ever clean, but what I'm getting at here is that McCain's stances on war and foreign policy are enough to make me vote for whoever "the other guy" is. Yes, I know, lesser of two evils. And honestly I HATE voting that way. This two-party system is killing us, but if this is what it comes down to, so be it, I suppose.
