Check out these tats people had done of portraits of various celebrities.
http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20202195,00.html I'm just wondering what these are going to look like in 30 years or so. |

Yeah, I'm quite astonished at the level of detail there is in a lot of these. The Jack Black and Will Ferrell ones are damn near frightening really.
I still can't help but wonder why anyone wants that infamous picture of Britney with her head shaved permanently marked on themselves. It always reminds me of this picture someone did where they 'shopped it onto Edward Norton's body in American History X. As seen here: |

This is one topic I've been arguing for a while, especially with how much I hate hearing blogging bitch about digital books online.
When Neil Gaiman had his published post his bestselling novel "American Gods" online so people could temporarily read it for free, Boing Boing blogger Corey Doctorow wouldn't shut up about how hard it was to use. My thoroughly ignored response was, "We have these things called libraries, you know, where you can read all sorts of books and publications for FREE!!" Anyway, this just about caps my disappointment in the world: more funny fail pictures at FAIL Blog This also goes right along with the fact that people have forgotten that we have public transportation. |

The mention of people forgetting what public trans is was just another thing that was nagging in the back of my head.
L.A. and the surrounding areas have a pretty dense transit system with buses going practically anywhere you need to go. Since we're sort of on a gas crisis right now (it's almost at $4.50/gallon here), some people are making comments about "Wouldn't it be nice if we could to --some non-descript point-- tomorrow without driving?" Sometimes I have to stifle myself from shouting, "Dude, just take the Blue Line. It's right off it's route!!" Anyway... Found the message board and thread that was originally posted on: http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=648654 Glad you like it, Vulkar. |

How many keys are on your keychain?
- 2. One to my house, the other to Brandon's apartment that he doesn't live in anymore. What curse word do you use the most? - Fuck/fucking. Do you own an iPod? - I have a Shuffle. Was a present. What time is your alarm clock set for? - I have nothing to be up early for right now. How many suitcases do you own? - 1. Brandon and I share it when we go anywhere. Do you wear flip-flops even when it’s cold outside? - Yeah, usually. We don't get snow, and it doesn't get that cold. I do wear shoes on rainy days, though. Where do you buy your groceries from? - Trader Joe's and Costco. Would you rather take the picture or be in the picture? - I'm always the one taking pictures anyway. It's what I prefer. What was the last movie you watched? - I just watched most of Black Snake Moan on cable. Last one I saw in a theater was the fourth Indiana Jones. Do any of your friends have children? - A few do. If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would buy? - Tickets to Comic-Con and possibly plane tickets to various places on the other side of the world. Has anyone ever called you lazy? - Well, there's my parents and the occasional relative outside of them, so yeah. Do you ever take medication to help you fall asleep faster? - Nope. What CD is currently in your CD player? - In the three disc-holding one that I actually listen to CDs: Poxy Boggards' "Anchor Management," Flogging Molly's "Float," and some burned CD with a bunch of songs that don't really fit together. Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk? - Milk, I guess? Has anyone told you a secret this week? - I suppose that's arguable. When was the last time someone hit on you? - Depends on what's considered being hit on. Either way it's been a while. Last Wizard World, in March, would probably be the last time. What did you have for dinner? - Haven't had it yet, but I think I'll fry myself some chicken, stuff it with ricotta cheese and bake it. Do you wear hoodies often? - If I wear jackets, they're usually black zip-ups with hoods, but I RARELY ever use the hood. Can you whistle? - Could do ever since I can remember. Have you ever participated in a protest? - Several, ranging from write-ins, to petitions, to picketing. Who was the last person to call you? - My mother. What is your favourite ride at an amusement park? - X, at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Do you think people talk about you behind your back? - If they do I'm sure it's rather boring. I don't produce any interesting gossip for people. What area code are you in right now? - 562. Did you watch cartoons as a child? - Definitely. How big is your local mall? - One floor, but it's a labyrinth. It's typical to see people getting lost in it. How many siblings do you have? - 0. Are you shy around the opposite sex? - Not really, but I tend to be rather quiet and shy around strangers. What movie do you know every line to? - Rocky Horror Picture Show, Cannibal!: The Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and most of the lines from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Do you own any band t-shirts? - Technically no. I have one band shirt and it's actually a long-sleeve thermal for Flogging Molly. Brandon did give me his Godsmack T-shirt, though. When was your last plane ride? - Earlier this year. Flying home from San Francisco. How many chairs are at your dining room table? - That actually match the table--6. But I think right now, since we had a dinner the other night, there's like 3 others that don't belong. Do you read for fun? - I've read nearly 70 graphic novels in the last couple months. These days, I've only been reading for fun. Can you speak any languages other than English? - Not fluently. I can understand every fifth word of Spanish. Do you do your own dishes? - I own mugs and a freakin' stein. What colour is your bedroom painted? - A magenta-purple color Glidden paints named "Exotic bloom." Have you ever cried in public? - Yeah, I'd say so. Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop? - Desktop. Which do you make, wishes or plans? - A little of both. Are you always trying to learn new things? - Yeah, I'm always wanting to add another hat to my rack. Are you currently wanting any piercings or tattoos? - I suppose I do want a tattoo, I'm just not sure what of. Do you believe that the guy should pay on the first date? - That's bullshit, go Dutch. Can you skip rocks? - Nope. Have you ever been to Jamaica? - Nope. What to snack on at the movie theatre? - I don't snack on anything in the theater, but if I could get 'em, I'd want those little Laughing Cow cheeses. Those things are soooooo good. Who was your favourite teacher? - Middle school: Ms. Morgan (Science) and Jeff Coulter (Advanced English). Both of them were geeks with whom I shared a lot of alone time after school talking about life and such) High school: Sally Driggs (Honors biology). She was the advisor for my little environmental activist club and often drove us on field trips and to various beach and riverbed clean-ups. College: Thus far Debbie Whittaker (I had her for several philosophy classes) and Bob Maxell (Intermediate algebra). Both are AWESOME people who showed me different ways to look at the world. Have you ever dated someone out of your race? - Yes. My first boyfriend was Salvadoran. What is the weather like? - It's getting pretty hot these days. Would you ever date someone covered in tattoos? - Why would that be a problem? Do you have an online journal? - Yes, but it's not filled with private thoughts or anything. What was your favourite class in high school? - Newspaper. I was an editor. Do you enjoy travelling via airplanes? - Yeah, I mean they get you places faster, but I prefer ships and trains. What personality trait is a must-have in your preferred gender? - I suppose patience and understanding. Out-going and funny people are cool and all, but those traits don't hold up long-term relationships. Matter of fact often it masks some bad traits. One of the most out-going and hilarious people I know is a dead-beat dad who sometimes hits his girlfriend. Have you ever been attracted to someone physically unattractive? - That happens much more often with me than most people think. When was the last time you slept on the floor? - I can't remember the last time I slept right on the floor without an air mattress, but if you count those times, I slept on an air mattress in Zabuza's apartment a few months back. What is your favourite alcoholic drink? - Not quite sure these days. I've only been having beer lately, so I'd go with either Blue Moon off the tap and Indian Wells' Orange Blossom brew. Does your closest Starbucks have a drive-thru? - No. Do you like your living arrangement? - For now. What is your mother’s hometown? - Actually I'm not quite sure. She's from the Philippines. How many hours of sleep do you need to function? - 5 if necessary. Do you eat breakfast daily? - Only on the weekends with my parents. Otherwise, every now and then Brandon and I 'ill get something. Are your days full and fast-paced? - Not at the moment, sometimes they are. Did you ever get in trouble for talking in class? - Not since high school. What is your favourite fruit? - Strawberries. Do you believe in life on other planets? - I suppose it's possible. Have you ever been to Six Flags? - Yes, but only the one in my area. Who was the last person to piss you off? - This woman with her family in Seal Beach this morning. While trying to turn my car around in the street and then pull into an alley, she and her family started jay-walking right behind my car and then they just stood there and blocked me in while other cars were trying to get passed me all pissed off because they had to wait a minute. Then when she and her 5 little kids ran around my car, they started walking in the middle of the alley I was trying to pull into. Do you believe that God has a gender? - If there is a god, probably not. I'm agnostic, I really don't know and I'd rather focus on the future and such. What was the last thing you ate? - Hot dogs. Do you get along better with the same or opposite sex? - Eh, it varies. When it comes to meeting people for the first time, I guess I mesh better with guys since I don't like girly things. What did you dress up as for your first Halloween? - I was either an angel or a pumpkin. I don't remember which came first. How did your parents pick your name? - They decided this would be my name if I were a girl, and Christopher would be my name if I were a boy. Do you like mustard? - YES!! Do you sleep on your side, tummy, or back? - I tend to sleep on my stomach. What character from a movie most reminds you of yourself? - Dunno. I guess Enid from Ghost World and I have a lot in common, but she pisses me off with how stupid she is from time to time throughout the movie. After her, I'm slightly like Rosencrantz from Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. He's off-the-wall and usually when he tries to either communicate or show other people something, they usually just think he's odd and don't bother with him. Have you ever bid for something on eBay? - Yes. I used to be hopelessly addicted to eBay. What do you think of Angelina Jolie being pregnant? - She's pregnant? Celebrity gossip is boring and a waste of time. Do you enjoy giving hugs? - Definitely. Would you consider yourself to be fashionable? - NOPE. Do you own a digital camera? - Yes. If someone you had no interest in dating expressed interest in dating you, how would you feel? - Thankfully I only need to tell them that I'm already taken. What celebrities have you been compared to? - Hell if I know. I'm really not like anyone famous I'd think, at least anyone off TV or the silver screen. Who is your favourite Star Wars character? - Han Solo, definitely. Does it annoy you when someone says they’ll call but never do? - No, I'm more annoyed when people want to go somewhere and don't show up for several hours. What books, if any, have made you cry? - Animal Farm made me furious, not sure if I cried over it. Actually I don't think I cry over books so much as novellas I read online. Do you think you’re attractive? - To an extent I suppose. What are you allergic to? - Insect bites. What’s your opinion on sex without emotional commitment? - It's your body. Do with it what you will. Do you ever feel guilty after eating meat? - Occasionally. If you were born the opposite sex, what would your name have been? - Christopher. Mentioned this before. |

Below is a video a 16-year-old girl by the name of Crystal Shinkle claiming that her state won't help her convict her now ex-boyfriend of raping her.
She tearfully demands justice from the faceless masses of the Internet, much like many have done before her exclaiming over and over that her governor and any of the higher-ups in her justice system have turned a deaf ear to her with the only person she claims giving a damn about her is her father (whom she says hasn't known her for 14 of the 16 years of her life). Let's watch (this is actually a copy someone made of it, because Crystal has since taken the original down): So... what's so funny about that. I'm not laughing, but many on YouTube and in various blogs, message boards, and even people at the Smoking Gun are. Her case was thrown out as consensual sex. On 20 separate occasions. Here is one of many videos that has appeared on YouTube to mock her (the text it's pulling from is her own recollection of what happened. I'm not sure which testimony it is, be it police or in court, but it is what she had to say of the alleged rapes) This particular video is actually one of the more polite ones you'll find: The alleged victim was drinking and using various narcotics knowingly and several times in her testimony acknowledges that she was coherent enough to give her consent, which she did give. Her state's age of consent is 16, though she was 15 at the time, she was a month from her 16th birthday so the courts have decided not to find Casey Mundling guilty of statutory. Article about this on CNN: http://edition.cnn.com/2008/TECH/05/15/rape.online/index.html I really don't know what to say. The college I was going to had the occasional problem with rapes during the early morning classes (between 5 and 6 a.m.) and it was really pissing me off when I would hear at my newspaper that the victim was told not to report the crime. Supposedly the police were trying to be sensitive for her and claimed that reporting the crime would only drag it out. Not reporting the crime also means they don't have to add it to their crime stats and thus they can continue to tell people that our campus is 100% safe because they've prevented this sort of shit from happening. Some students sleep better at night if they just tell themselves these girls are crying rape fr attention. I especially hate when people blame the victim in cases of rape and say she brought it on herself by how she dressed and so on. Like this vicious cycle can continue because women shouldn't feel free to dress how they choose. But this... this makes me upset. Granted supposedly only 2% of alleged rape victims are lying about their incident, but it's bullshit like "He didn't want to date me any more so I just wanted him to feel the same pain I was feeling and I called in the justice system on his ass" that makes it so people don't believe those who've actually been taken advantage of or raped. I hate when people treat rape like a joke. It's a devastating thing that can ruin a person's psyche. (Last edited by Rogue on 06-24-08 01:13 PM) |

The 1940 picture of the Minutemen hit the web last week:
Word has it Zack Snyder's also doing a film version of the Tales of the Black Freighter to go along with Watchmen. Article on that: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/26/business/media/26retail.html?_r=2&ref=business&oref=slogin&oref=slogin |

Apparently a Runaways movie may be in the works soon: http://blog.newsarama.com/2008/05/22/runaways-head-for-hollywood-with-vaughan-in-tow/
The script is going to be written by Brian K. Vaughan who was originally writing the series, though in the more recent years Joss Whedon's been writing the stories. The movie's expected to come out in 2011. |

I'm not really a TV-watcher these days, well, prime time TV-watcher. I still catch shows like Simpsons and Family Guy in the afternoon, but like I said, that's not "prime time."
I was keeping up with Heroes and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles when they were on, but is there anything worth tuning in for during the summer season? I've been watching Hell's Kitchen off and on out of habit since I usually don't have anything going on at 9 on Tuesday nights. It's all right, but nothing to obsess over. Seems like the chefs really aren't all that great, like Gordon Ramsey should just get rid of all of the people on the show and start over. Anyway, anything worth watching? I don't have cable, so yeah, I'm sure there's tons of better things out there. |

Yeah, a few months back Brandon subscribed to Netflix and most of the time we've got movies we borrowed from the library. Even without things borrowed and rented, we've still got our own collection of videos and DVDs to go through.
Seems like I haven't really bothered with regular TV in a while. That and I've been reading a ridiculous amount of comic books. I guess I was asking because at the time I was getting suckered into watching that quality piece of programming -- Farmer Wants a Wife. Oh dear god. Why do women subject themselves to fighting over a man like he was the last lay in the universe? Whatever happened to there being other fish in the sea? (Last edited by Rogue on 06-12-08 01:46 AM) |

NBC put out a new preview. It's nothing big, but the show'll be back in September.
Here's another video, this is a compilation someone did of the end of "Powerless" and the clips Tim Kring and Jeph Loeb brought to the Jules Verne Festival I went to last December: When I saw Jeph Loeb at Wizard World in March, my friend Pam wanted to talk to him about inconsistencies she noticed in that clip show we saw. Jeph said to NOT take any of those seriously. He and Tim just shot those and cut them together to have something to show fans at these little gatherings we have. EDIT: Forgot to mention it, but next month at Comic-Con, NBC is planning on screening the Heroes season premiere. I'm excited. (Last edited by Rogue on 06-12-08 01:48 AM) |

I've reached beyond boiling point with my neighbor. Seriously, if water could burn, this figurative kettle is blackened, Cajun-style.
Noise complaints are understandable. I get it. No one wants to be woken up because the 20-something next door is laughing too loudly or her boyfriend is watching Metallica videos at odd hours. This was solved by our moving into another room. Problem with that is the new room is in the upstairs, with poor-circulation. And it's getting HOT these days. Obviously. We have a fan sitting on the roof right outside our window blowing in air. The fucking sack of used douche next door is now bitching about our fan like it's making her property value sink like a stone. Here's the deal, our town (Cerritos, Californ-i-ay) has strict codes about what color you can paint your house, how trees should look, where you can keep your trash cans, and annoyingly enough that you can't park in the street at night. There's nothing that I've heard or read regarding fans in windows. Ever since she moved in, it's been nothing but reporting people to the city and other authorities with her. Ironically, she happened to paint her house a dark purple, which goes against the rules of earth-tone colors only for houses. Yet when the city council came a-knockin' she told them to piss off. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you with the pot. |

So I'm sporting a rather severe bodice burn (my chest is redder than cooked lobster).
Kinda sucks that it didn't even out with my past burns from a few weeks ago. Now I have four-toned boobs: parts are dark red (burned tanned area), red (newly burned skin), brown (tanned parts that weren't burned), and white (hasn't been exposed to sunlight EVER). So yeah, it's hot these days and my next door neighbor's a busybody cunt about my fan I need to be able to breathe in my own room. Everyone else all right? |

That absolutely fucking sucks, Nagis. I hate humidity. What the hell? Rain and lightning and STILL 90-92 degrees?
And yeah, Thex, I do sort of envy you on that one. I used to be like that. Then I guess my dad's genetics kicked in and now even slight exposure fries me. |

Hehe, I guess if you know what his alterego is, it's not such a shock, but there have been campaign posters with his face on it. Spoiler: At least ONE of his faces. |
