We finally had the ceiling fans installed in my house. AWESOME.
No more bitching from the nosy cunt next door about our having fans in the window. I love my new fan. Cherrywood and gun-metal finish with a remote control. Ah, bliss. ![]() |

R.I.P. Michael Turner
![]() At last Wizard World L.A., the Aspen artists and writers imparted to us of Michael's tragic decline, but that he was also working his damnedest to churn out some material for Free Comic Book Day. A professional to the end for his fans and a great talent who will be very sorely missed. <3 |

After watching a tape and letting it go all the way to the end, stop and then rewind, the TV came on. Turns out it's classic SNL from the '70s.
George Carlin is the guest host and does some stand up between skits. Damn this is depressing. |

Anyway, orgasming is actually good for you as it exercises your heart. Scientists have reported that people who orgasm often are less likely to have heart disease and other cardiovascular problems. Could be a coincidence, but why not be safe and have as many as you can anyway? ![]() |

I assumed when they made the discoveries they had surveyed people rather than gathered them up and told them to circle jerk for a while and see where it gets them. In their surveying they probably noticed a correlation between amount of intercourse/orgasms a person was getting weekly to their heart's health and so on.

The few times I've watched 0 all the way through I was getting bored with how much they reused of La Blue Girl and Elfen Lied among other anime. How many times do we need to see the same set of limbs getting ripped off and girls getting raped? | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Yeah, writing. I'm going to school for that. Getting paid to write would be sweet.
But I really wish I could get into writing comics. I mean I know it's an ultra-competitive field, that's also rather fickle and tempestuous, but I'd like to put out something that someone out there might enjoy. Just wish I had an artist. ![]() But yeah, that's my other obscure dream job, I guess. |

Article: http://www.collider.com/entertainment/interviews/article.asp/aid/8326/tcid/1
Apparently the producers of 300 want to talk Frank Miller into writing a prequel to the Spartan epic. You gotta love how bad the interview is in the article. Interviewer: "How hard is it to get Frank Miller right now, with the fact that he's, you know, doing Spirit and all this other stuff?" Producers: [Long, awkward silence.] ... "He created 300." You can just imagine their little producer minds exploded as their little inner monologues thought to themselves, "What the fuck is Spirit?!" |

Oh my FUCKING god.
Article: http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/national_world&id=6217516 Originally posted by ABC I really don't know what to say. I'm really starting to think Idiocracy, as silly and far-fetched as it is, may be right. Morons just keep breeding eventually filling the world with increasingly dimmer-witted people who do nothing more than reproduce and further soak up the resources. Okay, that rant aside, this really is off the deepend. Completely and utterly. |

It's one thing to unintentionally get pregnant and keep the baby because that's your choice and you feel it's the only honorable and right thing to do.
But it's completely absurd to purposely get pregnant because you think it will enrich your life when you are certainly not ready for the hardships, sacrifices, and judgment young, unwed mothers face. Yeah, I know I'm being judgmental, but what the fuck, people?! The economy's not doing so well right now and it's not fair to assume that your parents are going to shine on being responsible for your child when you realize the mistake you made. With prices consistently rising, it's going to be even harder having another mouth to feed. Which brings me to a retorting article in Time Magazine saying to give the girls a break: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1818191,00.html The writer considers the option that this is actually a trend in girls deciding to keep their unplanned pregnancies as a rejection of abortion. HOWEVER, multiple articles including the original one in Time (found here: http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1815845,00.html) along with the existence of this pact sort of prove that these were all planned to begin with. I mean, I've got no beef with girls who've analyzed their situation, decided that abortion isn't right for them and strove to make the most of it. Based on what I've read about it all, it comes off like the girls just wanted to have something that was going to love them no matter what. Oh dear. |

OK, personally, I really liked 300. It was enjoyable and got the blood pumping for several reasons.
Now, should there be a sequel? No. It'd be like what happened with Highlander and The Matrix, and even Pirates of the Caribbean. The original wasn't bad, but then someone got greedy and wanted to bank more on cult following of those films. Granted there was a lot about 300 that wasn't told -- like why the Persians were trying to war with the Spartans in the first place (which I think was something to do Xerxes' father being defeated or something of the like) -- but in the end it would only take away from the original. |

To clear up the confusion, FX was talking about the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels when he said he always thought they sucked. Not 300.
|
Now while I absolutely thought Dead Man's Chest was horrible through and through, I still have yet to see At World's End from beginning to end. I've seen 20 minutes here or there, but haven't watched it build in plot. Now as for 300 possibly having a prequel, there are a lot of things to tell actually, and hell there was the Athenian navy that no one talks about. ![]() In the end, though, it would probably still come off like a desperate grab for box office money.

H'okay, so we might as well make a thread about it.
|
What are the prices like in your area compared to what they were at not long ago? At the moment our average gas price is around $4.50. Six months ago, the average was between $3.50 and $3.75. While Arco and some of the cheaper brands sell for about $4.39, Chevron and others sell in the area of $4.65. Going into L.A. this weekend, I'd seen a few stations trying to unload it for $4.90 and into the early $5's. I'm hearing around that some southern Californians are driving down into Mexico for their gas because it's $3.10 in Tijuana. Problem is it's a different fuel mixture, having too much sulfur for American cars. In the end, it would destroy your cars emission control system. (Last edited by Rogue on 07-06-08 04:38 AM)

Since we don't seem to have a problem with spamming, this thread may as well exist again.
|
So the premise is simple. I'll pose a question, the next person answers it and they get to ask the next question. Questions can be regarding anything, but the deeper and detailed the questions and answers get, the better. All right, first question: What was the name and species of your first pet? Sorry, I was AFK for most of the last week, and since this wasn't started beforehand, I might as well get what's left of that ball rolling.
|
Sorry, International members, this is a rather American-biased question. But you can still tell us what you did on July 4. ![]() I pretty much spent the whole day at an anime convention in L.A. which had some really trippy moments. Since I took the train to the convention center, and most people had the day off, it was mostly just people heading to the same place as I. The car I was in was filled with girls mostly dressed in the Gothic Lolita style. The train ride back was even crazier. Since the Blue Line goes through South Central and Compton, as well as many other lower-rent housing areas, going back at night on the 4th of July was like passing through a warzone. SO MANY people were firing off illegal fireworks and lighting up the sky around the train. That night, pretty much just hung out at a party with Brandon's band where, yes, we too blew shit up and drank and barbecued. ![]() Anyone else? (Last edited by Rogue on 07-09-08 01:03 AM) |
