| The one before the seat-stealer rant was actually regarding a package I still haven't received from someone I'm conducting a trade with--and appear to be cheated out on.
There was actually a full rant there that I ended up deleting because re-reading it was pissing me off. |

| As some of you may or may not know L.A. had a really bad train accident recently. So far 25 people have died with over 100 injured with some in critical condition.
It was announced today that it's been confirmed by some teenagers and his phone records that the conductor was texting just before the accident and missed a signal which caused the Metrolink to be struck by an oncoming Union Pacific. One of the headlines that made it online today:

| As an aspiring journalist who's worked in print before, I do agree, Vulkar, that a headline is designed to attract the eye, but damn... really?
It's completely taken out of context. While it's true that he was gay and Hispanic, did those things really need to get mentioned? That would be like someone taking a story about a typical teenaged-male and put up a headline like "Masturbating, porn-loving virgin wins the lottery!" or something of the like. And like you mentioned they made it look like he was pedophile at that. They haven't specified the age of the person who was on the receiving end of his messages, but come on! I really don't know what to say. I do agree--Take it to PMs if this needs to persist so. For the record, though, I'm a university student. And we're definitely not the be-all and end-all of the academic chain. Not meaning to sound like I'm putting down your friend whom I assume worked really hard to get where they are, Nagis, but let's just say we all still have A LOT to learn. Yeah, you got your warning. First I would like to point out that journalists are meant to be objective when it comes to reporting events and not interfere with criminal investigations. They are allowed to find evidence themselves and point it out to police; however, they are usually not meant to act as federal agents in any regard. They're watchdogs, but not attack hounds. If they're assigned to cover starving people in Africa, they are obliged to not give out food or money no matter how badly they might want to help the people they're surrounded by. It's that important to maintain journalistic objectivity. Also, as a journalist, one is supposed to uphold the rights and liberties of the Constitution to the best of their ability. Now here's a question. As Fox's news/journalistic slant tends to be pro-Republican, would Bill O'Reilly be as adamant about finding the hackers and punishing them so intently were it Obama and Biden's e-mail accounts hacked. OR would he be the first one to publish what scandalous e-mails were posted from the hackings? P.S. Some reports have actually posted screenshots of 4Chan (yeah, seriously) where someone said "Start looking for Pelosi's." (restricted) | (restricted) |

I remember having an exercise like this for a health class in high school, where we started each day before going into the lecture talking about something positive that we've done, thought about or had happen to us.

I figure this will also off-set the "Fuck You" thread which is reserved for the more negative aspects of every day life. So my positive for today: I ran into my old best friend from high school that I haven't seen in the last 5 years. I've missed him so much and I'm so happy I found him, got to talk with him today, and traded numbers. So what's been something that's made you happy, amused, etc today?

I've been feeling rather crappy today. I can't really explain being so under the weather as I feel at this moment, but it's quite likely that it's PMS. At least, I hope that's what it is.

It seems like a lot of people are getting more and more pissed off as well around me at school and even on the bus this morning. It could also very well be the onset on seasonal depression, which I deal with every year due to the increasingly shorter days. Anyway, the few little lights in the darkness for me today: - Discovering that Stephen Chow will not only be directing the new Green Hornet movie, but playing Kato as well. - Talking with my friend Scott in history class. - And, putting up this ridiculously long post on my American studies teacher's website which felt more like a mental catharsis for me regarding where I stand with my family and society. | ||||||||||||||
