Originally posted by Vulkar Admittedly, I've blacked out those parts of my memory. It leaves far less of a stain on this volume. I still can't believe how freaking anticlimactic the serum/Super Soldier storyline was. What's more, I still feel it'd be in the best interest of the show to stop getting rid of new characters so quickly and to finally have the balls to kill off "main" characters in a large ensemble show. My conclusion: bring back Monica and KILL Claire. But overall, I am definitely digging the Sylar/new lackey storyline. Still wish that he'd kept Elle around, but it was something of a strange relationship between them. Pretty hot, though. EDIT: And I'm LOVING that Peter can only pick up and use one power at a time. Thank you, writers! We DO NOT need two godlike characters who can pick up unlimited powers. After a while, they'd either need to go villain or be eliminated from the show. In general this volume's pretty good. (Last edited by Rogue on 02-11-09 11:14 AM) |

If you haven't heard the news (which is impossible to avoid if you live in L.A.), a woman had 8 babies in one sitting.
The news broke from the Bellflower Kaiser Permanente (which I worked at in high school) that octuplets were born, though they were expecting just seven (doctors actually answered questions of "Why didn't you think there was going to be an eighth baby?" with "I guess he was hiding.") People thought this was great and then they discovered... She's not married! *Gasp* OK, yeah, so what, you know. Big deal, right? Why can't a woman just go down to the sperm bank and pick up a turkey baster or what have you if she wants a child. And then further news broke... She already had 6 children at home prior to getting impregnated again!! *Faints* Uh... And she was taking massive amounts of fertility pills to up the possibility of having multiple births. Dun dun duuuuuuuuuuun. Then... THEN she goes around collecting free things from different organizations, and only willing to make appearances in the media if someone (like Oprah) pays her an ungodly amount of money for her baby-having obsession. And now, she's put up a website asking for the public to give her money and on top of all of this--WE, the taxpayers, get to pay for all of her bullshit. She's unemployed. She's on disability. She's using food stamps. And she's been telling the media she's thinking about getting further government assistance. Because, you know, the economy needed this like a flamethrower blast to the testicles. Discuss. |

It figures. Seriously. No one on the show is allowed to have a significant other for more than a season. Think about it. Janice. Heidi. Simone. Zach (who may or may not have been revealed as gay despite a possible relationship with Claire). Eden. Charlie. D.L. Caitlin. Yaeko. West. Maya. Elle....
Even if they aren't killed off, once they become much more involved with a character they suddenly are written out. Even Arthur Petrelli showed up for less than a season and was killed off. The only exception to this rule is the Bennet family. Bennet's a family man first. Shame no one gives a shit about Lyle. I think it's the writers trying to keep all of them open to possible pairings in the future, but seriously, this just fuels my dislike of characters getting killed off or written out too quickly. I mean, does ANYONE give a shit about characters Sylar meets and kills in a single episode any more? To be honest, I stopped caring immediately after he and Mohinder met the woman who had super-hearing abilities. Now going back to the main topic, I seriously don't think Daphne's dead and if she has actually been killed boo on the writers. Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander's names are still on the credits, so I'm still holding out for the episodes Bryan Fuller took over before I make any final decisions. EDIT: And where the hell is Molly? She was "sent away," but no one seems to care. If she falls into the wrong hands the heroes are fucked, especially with them all being hunted down. (Last edited by Rogue on 02-12-09 05:11 PM) |

In all honesty, I never really liked Daphne to begin with. The whole relationship between her and Parkman seemed forced. Like in an alternate future (that has been altered), they were together so they MUST get together now.
It's sort of like Daphne telling Ando when he's worried about Hiro, "You kill him in the future, so he's still alive." That future was based on the development of the serum that would give anyone who wanted powers some sort of ability, for crying out loud. The serum has since been destroyed. What's more in that alternate future Ando shot his red lightning charge at Hiro, who's to say he wasn't just charging him up? Afterall, Hiro couldn't hear what they were saying. Now granted Ando and Daphne didn't see the future, and Hiro was rather vague when he told them what he saw, but wouldn't they realize that future should no longer exist? I wonder if Parkman is ever going to return to his wife to find out how his kid is doing. Even though he suspected the kid was actually the other guy's since she cheated on him, in his subconscious (as revealed by Maury Parkman), he knew the child was his. Or is he just going to be like his father and not bother coming back? I'd just like to find out if the kid has any abilities. Maybe it'll be taken in as a terrorist. Who knows? |

Originally posted by Belial Oh god, how could I have forgotten that! And it's funny because her mother was helping her raise the first 6, and then when she had the other 8 I think there were reports that she told her daughter, "I won't be there when you get home," sort of a fuck you for creating these burdens. Now please note, I have nothing against the babies and her other 6 children. It's not their fault they were conceived and born, and they should be entitled to happy lives. But I honestly feel they should be taken away from their mother for the good of everyone. I mean, even if she doesn't get sperm donations or undergo further fertility treatments, what's to stop her from just having one-night stands with a bunch of guys and getting pregnant again? |

It never ends. More and more irresponsible people are churning out kids (I'm looking directly at you, Nadya Suleman). Now whether you think it's the kid's fault is debatable since he probably didn't know that's what he was doing and a baby would come out of it, but, for crying out loud, he was dating a 15-year-old. Why hadn't anyone taught him about condoms or at least to wait? When asked by the reporter "What will you do financially?" he answered, "What's 'financially'?" Look at him. His voice hasn't even cracked yet and he looks 8. Pictured below is him, the girlfriend, and their baby. Now, I do applaud that when they discovered she was pregnant they decided not to abort; however, would they have been able to gauge the hardship they're facing? I don't know. With him looking that young and just entering puberty, and a girlfriend who looks much older, I wonder if she cheated on him and he's stuck with this. |

Well at least Benny might get some play.
I just don't do anything for Valentine's, I guess. Last night when Brandon and I were at the store buying soda, people were scrambling about for flowers and candy. As we were heading for the check-out line he said, "You can pick out something for yourself if you want." I was like, "Wha? No, that's okay." The guy ahead of us in line was getting this simple-looking flower arrangement that was 5 roses and a few reeds in a rectangular vase. When it was scanned the damn thing come out to $45. To be honest, my first reaction was, "WHAT THE HELL? OMG?!" But looking at it from the hopeless romantic's p.o.v., the fact that you'd spend that much is kinda sweet. But still, $45?! For a few roses in a vase? You're out of your minds. |

Apparently she's allegedly been aspiring to be like Angelina Jolie in appearance and probably also in having as many kids as possible (Angelina's reaction story Nadya Suleman's the one on the left, as I'm sure you could tell).
If Suleman wants another kid that bad, as this might just be an addiction for (she needs her fix), she could always wait 'til her face isn't in the media so much, use her Angelinaness to pick up some random guy at a bar and tell him never to call her again afterwords. I'm sure there aren't many guys out there that'll turn down some free, no-strings-attached poontang. Granted once people find out who he is, I'm sure he'd be stoned to death on his front lawn. |

So here's some news: turns out Nadya Suleman's PR agency has decided to drop her as a client because they're tired of receiving death threats and such for her stupidity that they're promoting.
The website they made for her is still up, though: http://www.thenadyasulemanfamily.com/ A Christian-based "talent agency" picked her up (as in the past they'd promoted a woman who had 7 children at once). So far they haven't put anything out on Suleman. Hopefully it stays that way. Here's a blog post about it: http://laist.com/2009/02/14/octo_moms_pr_firm_surrenders_after.php |

I do agree that it's really common to be dating people aged several years apart. My boyfriend from middle school to high school was 3 years older than I, and my mom is 4 years older than my dad. It's just how did a 12 year old (who probably looked even younger and was probably in elementary school) bag an older woman that looks that much older?
It sort of why I think she cheated on him. It suddenly reminds me of this episode of the Simpsons where Bart got a driver's license, wandered off to another town, met a girl, they get together and suddenly she's demnding they get married. Why? Because she's pregnant and wants her baby to have a father. |
