Originally posted by Valhalla Ah. There've been several retakes on Reefer Madness with the musical just being the latest one. Well, it is a weed. It's capable of growing anywhere. Hydroponics just happens to be the typical method of cultivation since most people can't just grow it outside without concern of a nosy neighbor calling the cops. Either way I predict more DEA raids. No matter what California says, they still swoop in with their, "Federal law still supersedes state, you reefer fiends." It's fucking ridiculous. |

One more week!!
I'm not sure if I want to go to the Civil War re-enactment, get some Chinese with my mom, take pictures at Voidcrush's photoshoot, or maybe find something else to do this Saturday. Still not sure what to choose from tomorrow and Sunday. |

I actually pushed the limits on some of my school's computers. Other than in one computer lab, you occasionally get "Bad Request" screens that disappear if you refresh the page, it seems there aren't any filters whatsoever. I'm amazed.
Anyway here's a fuck you to the chick who sometimes sits in front of me in sociology. Not for anything she did or said to me personally, but she'll always come in, sit in front of me, and no matter who's next to her she talks loudly with them about her upcoming wedding, her plans for it and shows off her engagement ring. OK, fine, you're excited. Whatever. Then when we're having our lecture she keeps interrupting the teacher and raising her hand with her wrist bent in such a way that she's trying to show off the ring to the whole class. Again, whatever. Then one of her comments is, "Whenever I see a happy couple who are like all lovey-dovey and everything, my mom and I just smile to each other and say, '50%!!' because, you know, half of all marriages fail." ... You're a bitch. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-02-09 04:40 AM) |

Many times. Often times it's against the Spanish explorers/conquistadors. Hell, even just the Spanish in general sometimes with the Inquisition.
What are 5 off-beat songs that you love? |

At the end of the Dr. Phil interview, he threw in bit at the end saying that he'd just received a call from Nadya. It was him relaying the news that Kaiser wouldn't let her take the babies until she can prove she's in the right sort of situation to take care of them and her children.
Anyway, Dr. Phil was saying that she apparently had an "awakening" saying that since the octuplets were in the hospital her current situation was "like a vacation" with how the nurses were taking care of her kids for her. Now she's suddenly hit with the reality of it. I honestly think that was an exaggeration on his part if she's turning down volunteer help. |

Well the fact of the matter is, last year when dealers and stoners got together and wrote him a letter pretty much reading, "TAX US! You're guaranteedly going to make bank," he actually took the idea into consideration.
To say the very least, he tries. |

Apparently Suleman turned down Gloria Allred's offer of free 24-hour baby service because it wasn't a reality show offer.
Despite her claims that she's not a celeb, that she doesn't want to be on TV, and so on, she and her family do exclusive on top of exclusive (the meaning of the word apparently disappeared), she calls up Dr. Phil to help her through shit she dropped on herself, and now Allred and company are saying that she told them that unless they put her and the kids on a reality show she won't accept their help (which Allred said ABSOLUTELY NOT to because the kids should not be exposed to that). |

This weekend was fun and weird and somewhat tragic at the same time.
I think Brandon just got recruited into the Confederate army. |

Pretty much songs that you would probably never hear on the radio, are strange and/or controversial, and almost never mainstream. These days songs by artists before 1980 seem to also fall into the off-beat category, especially if it's something even the oldies station won't play. | |||

Things have been slow since I started school again near the end of January.
I started a lot of books, but have only finished a few things. Textbooks and such are consuming a lot of my time and reading these days. Finished since last post: Memories of My Melancholy Whores The Woman Who Wouldn't Evyione 5-9 Watchmen -- re-read it again so it'd be fresh in my mind Sandman: Preludes and Nocturnes Sandman: The Doll's House Sandman: Dream Country Phoenix Endsong Creatures of the Night |

You might think this odd, Xeo, but I completely enjoyed last night's episode. Especially the Claire stuff.
I'll admit I'm so fucking tired of Claire, especially with how the writers keep making her their little crusader for every cause out there, and definitely with how she gets a love interest and they're gone instantly. But there's something about the her and Alex relationship. The underwater kiss was actually really sweet. Completely kicked the Claire/West flying over L.A. sequences asses. Anyway, what I'm really sick of... giving Sylar even MORE parental issues. We get it. You want to illustrate how mentally-fucked up he is, but does the show really need yet another round of little Gabriel Gray either not certain whom his mother/father is and/or watching them die/killing them? I'm starting to wonder if the trailers are giving away too much. I suppose they assume anyone that's looking forward to seeing it was part of the boom in the
Found this character preview on YouTube: I've read and re-read the book and I do not recall Veidt ever making a comment that eliminating dependence of fossil fuels would "make war obsolete." I just flipped through the book a couple times and still didn't find it. It's definitely not in his Nova Express interview near the end of the book either. While that could very well be something Ozymandias would say, I think were Alan Moore to hear that he would be furious. Reason being that he felt when V for Vendetta was adapted that it had transformed into a story about American government when it was about Britain. Watchmen does take place in America and is an alternate reality of 1985 at that, but the comment reflects the current world and our current issues. Now while by '85 we had had the gas shortage of '79, we had not gone to war over oil yet (and wouldn't until the '90s). Gas prices were relatively low, in fact the price of oil was actually in the process of plummeting. What's more "reliance on fossil fuels" is just one reason we go to war. I'm not saying that a line like that ruins the movie, but it was a rather thoughtless comment to just toss in there nonchalantly. If I'm not mistaken, in the Watchmen universe, a lot more things were electrically-charged. They've even got electric hydrants up and down the street that you can use to recharge your car if you've got the cables for it and everything. EDIT: Correction: The U.S. did go to war with Japan in WWII after we put an embargo on oil to keep them from raging further distruction on Asia. With only a year's worth of oil left, they launched the attack on Pearl Harbor. I, however, still feel Adrian would probably never have referenced this in 1985 as, again, war over oil was not happening until after Watchmen takes place. Meet Elisa LaCroix.
January 14: Fort Rich GI charged with rape * Elisa LaCroix tells police her ex-boyfriend held a knife to her throat earlier this month as he brutally raped her, repeatedly punched her in the stomach and threatened to kill her unborn child. January 27: Woman who claimed brutal rape lied, DA says * LaCroix, 20, created a crime scene and inflicted injuries to herself -- including swallowing a condom and stabbing her bed with a knife -- to make it appear she had been raped by her former fiance. * The soldier was arrested and held in jail for nearly two weeks. * "Unfortunately, in Alaska you can't expunge your record," Rothacher (the accused) said. "So it's going to stay on my record permanently -- as a suspect in a rape case." March 1, early morning: Amber Alert for missing 3 week old * Anchorage police issue an Amber Alert for 3-week-old Ethan LaCroix early Sunday morning, saying he is believed to be in danger. * Suspect 1 was the man Elisa accused of rape. Suspect 2 was a friend March 1, later in the day: Police find missing baby boy safe * "We just found that baby in the area of Fort Richardson, and the baby is OK," Lt. Dave Parker, spokesman for the Anchorage Police Department, said at about 12:30 p.m. March 1, mid-evening: Mother charged with staging kidnapping * What really happened, police say, is that Elisa LaCroix handed the infant to a friend through one of the chest-high windows that look out at the parking lot and a walkway surrounding the snowy apartment complex. March 1: Child's mother faces charges for making false report March 2: Mother who staged baby's abduction arraigned * Kaid (soon to be ex-husband) is about to be deployed to Afghanistan, Rex Butler (Elisa's attorney) said, and Elisa -- who was on house arrest -- was afraid he would take custody of the infant and send the boy to live with Kaid's family out of state. March 2: Attorney: False abduction report got 'out of hand' * "She's a victim, and she's been victimized many times over her life. And as a victim who is getting no support and no guidance, she took matters into her own hands and unfortunately the judgment that she's used has not been the best." - Butler |

YES!! I did indeed. Brandon and I went to a Civil War re-enactment last Saturday. After the first battle this guy came out asking people in our area if they had any questions about what they just saw.
This guy raises his hand and asks, "So the British won?" The historian explains, "No, that side was the South and this other side was the North." *Man looks at him confused.* "So the 'South' won the war?" (The Confederates won the battle that was just re-enacted) "No, this was just a battle in the war. Not the whole thing." "So when did the British come in?" "They didn't. Both sides were American." "Why'd that happen?" The historian then starts trying to explain the causes and issues of the Civil War. The guy was also in what looked like his late-40s and he had kids with him. If you found out you were dying this week, would you plan out your funeral? (Last edited by Rogue on 03-05-09 08:22 PM) |

Just got back from the midnight screening.
I thoroughly recommend NOT reading the graphic novel beforehand. It's pretty darn close and the opening montage is eye candy for those who've read the book before watching the movie, but there are some changes that were made that when you see the movie sort of distract you from enjoying it as just a movie. I'm not saying it sucked or that the changes that were made were horrific or anything, but they were distracting. Spoiler:
OK, starting with the most obvious--the explosion in New York. Disguising it as caused by Dr. Manhattan? Wha? I'm guessing if they kept the alien invasion story it would have confused and made people think it was pulling an Indiana Jones 4. No Captain Metropolis? They had shots of The Silhouette and Dollar Bill dead, Mothman getting taken away to an asylum and all that, but nothing on Captain Metropolis. Hell, they put him in the Minutemen picture, but they didn't even show him dead. I guess it saves time not explaining who he is when he's trying to form the Watchmen, and just getting Ozymandias to do it. Overall it was really good. Lots of blue penis, though. EDIT: A preview for the Black Freighter DVD came out this week: (Last edited by Rogue on 03-06-09 04:44 PM) |
