Well the closest seems to be Christian Bale playing two leading hero roles--Batman and John Connor.
Maybe Patrick Stewart playing both Captain Picard and Professor X? Hmmm... |

Originally posted by Valhalla Well to be fair, most romantic comedies follow the same formula: Boy meets girl. Boy gets with girl. Boy loses girl. Boy gets girl back. Love conquers all. It all started in the '30s when Depression era movie goers were more interested in heartwarming endings they could count on in such trying times. And yet with the economy the way it's going people are once again turning to superheroes for their comfort. No arguments here. ![]() But yeah, in truth most chick flick romantic comedies these days are definitely boring and corny. ![]() |

Hmm.. that's a little hard as there are so many smells that evoke such great memories for me.
I guess I'd have to say burning sage, tea and herb shops in Chinatown, hay, cigars, cinnamony churros, dragon's blood incense, air conditioners (especially those that have a filter that's been needing to be changed for year), fish markets (most especially those that fry the fish for you), fresh rosemary bread right out of the oven, and hole in the wall taco places. What was the last thing you read in a newspaper? |

You know who really needs to hear that last line? The Watchmen fans. I'm so completely and utterly sick of the bullshit they're spouting in criticism of the movie.
Seriously. I'm a HUGE Watchmen fan and I loved the movie as its own entity. But in regards to actors "crossing over" between comic book companies in the form of movies, let's not forget Doug Jones. The man is both Abe Sapien (Hellboy, published by Dark Horse) and the Silver Surfer (Marvel published). And looking into his past, he did a bit part in Batman Returns. Then of course there's Hellboy, Ron Perlman, himself. He's crossed both the DC/Marvel and Stars Wars and Trek lines, not to mention doing voices for Disney. |

Originally posted by Valhalla That, and the sex scene in "Archie." I'm so tired of everyone picking on it, when it freakin' happened in the book just like it. Fire and everything. Hell, people were even picking on the fact that Snyder put it to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." For crying out loud, if you've read the book you know that Niteowl's been pining over Silk Spectre II for years AND being a superhero is what completes him. /rant But yeah, the squid and the sex scene. I've never seen that S.Q.U.I.D., but I'll definitely be sure to look for it. Thanks for the tip. You going to watch the director's cut when it comes out? |

Inglorious Basterds is coming out this year? Heh, totally seeing that. I wonder if it's based on Inglorious Bastards, which was pretty much The Dirty Dozen gone wild. Bastards, however, didn't have a commanding officer demanding 50 Nazi scalps from each of the men present, though.
Sherlock I want to see. I might wait for it to hit the cheap theaters, but I know I'll be entertained by it. I also remembered... The Princess and the Frog, Disney's first 2D in 5 years (not that I saw Home on the Range), is coming out this December. It will be starring the very first black Disney princess. I'll probably see it some time. |

Answering my own question. ![]() It was a commentary about how shady Los Angeles medicinal marijuana dispensaries are and how the city council is pretty much encouraging them to be as such, exploiting loopholes and pretty much allowing them to be drug pushers and magnets for illegal activities. Can you remember the last time you looked up a number in the phone book? |

So from Wednesday 'til Sunday, I'll be inactive as I'll be down in San Diego for Comic-Con.
Can't believe it's that time of year already. I met Kevin Eastman, who along with Peter Laird created the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was REALLY cool. I mean the guy's the editor in chief for Heavy Metal magazine. Might go to Lebowski Fest while I'm down San Diego way. If so, I won't be home probably until Monday morning. |

Seriously, though, these people are scum. Most especially Sylvia Browne. She gets so much money telling people where their missing loved ones are, how they're doing in the afterlife, who killed them, all that bullshit. And she's been proven to be making it all up.
People who feed off of other people's insecurities regarding their loved ones who are no longer with them are among the lowest forms of life to me. |

Summer 2010 will be interesting. To me, anyway. Iron Man 2, The Last Airbender, yet another take on Robin Hood, The A-Team (this should NOT have been made ![]() I was excited about Green Hornet coming out until I heard Stephen Chow dropped out recently. Damn it... |

Originally posted by Seijika Well, the second one was definitely better than the first. And the third was all right. Nothing really special, but still watchable. But hitting a fourth film... already? That's overkill. Really, what more is there to tell? They've already got kids and the franchise is dwindling. |
