| Where all have you been running around at Rogue? Sounds fun.
I've been zipping about between work and finishing up last minute shopping. I probably spent more than I should but I can use the remaining bits of my financial aid money to help cover rent for next month, plus I get paid again next week. Most people got cheapy things like brownies or candy canes, but family actually got presents, with Ben's being most expensive (new speakers). Going over to my folks tonight for gift exchange since I had to work on the Solstice, but hey, free tamales right? Also stopping by WhiteRose's house to drop off her and Oni's gift since I know they got us something. Still trying to find out if anyone is doing anything for New Year's Eve. The gaming group was trying to convince us to do something but after what they did to our place last night they will be lucky if we continue to host gaming, let alone a New Year's thing. You know of anything Rogue? I feel so out of the loop. |

To add to my own list.... Fuck you gaming group! They trash my apartment every week, leave shit all over, never clean up... at least not more than a token effort. They use up our plates, our paper towels, our tissue, dirty our cups, put things in the wrong place, and are far too loud after 10pm despite repeated reminders to quite down. Last night, Danielle left tissues and paper towels that she was blowing her nose with all over our futon in the crease and Bernard actually pissed on our bathroom floor. When I called and angrily told him about it I got the most insincere "I'm sorry" I have ever heard. I am so pissed off right now, you have no idea. |

Bailey's Canyon eh? Sounds neat. We went hiking up at the east fork of the San Gabriel River once, it was pretty fun... saw lots of people panning for gold.

Been awhile since I talked to my aunt in Missouri but I think I remember her saying they at least plow the highways... however I noticed that on the holidays it takes forever. I was sorta snowed in at my grandma's house a few years back... the streets were plowed by the city right away but the highway (the only way out of her little mountain town) was still snowed in so we were stuck for awhile. It was not a pleasant experience but that was because my dad was being a douche. It just took them awhile to get out there and get the road cleared, that was all.

Sad that the first report of a vague snow-in came from California, huh? But yeah, our Christmas was a bit chilly but overall it was clear and warmer than it had been (wind made it colder). I worked 6 hours only on Christmas Day but it was a slow and annoying shift as literally everything in San Pedro was closed and I had to drive twice as far as normal to get some place that was open for lunch (Del Taco). Kinda annoying. Present hall this year was small but nice... some cash, some gift cards, a nice scarf, a blanket, some DVDs (Rome and Star Trek), beer, beer bread mix. Part of the cash was to pay for my upcoming GRE exam so yay! Oh yes, and candy... two boxes of chocolates that with my friends help will soon be gone. Mining for tourmaline? I wanna do that! Oh yeah... as a yearly thing on the day after Christmas, Ben's dad takes him and his sister (and significant others) out to either a museum or the zoo or something. Last year was the zoo, so this year was the LA Museum of Natural History. I don't know if I'd ever been there before, if I had then I was very small and remember little. It was fun despite half of it being under construction. Got to touch a T-Rex toe bone and they had an entire room for minerals (i.e. gems)... lots of tourmaline there. Plus a red diamond, the second largest in the world (still so small, like 5.3oz) and it was beautiful! So at least I can say I got to see a rare diamond as a gift of sorts, right?

You know that now you've said it that a Family Circus movie will be made... it will be sad, but it will be made. Honestly, I always saw the office scenes from Drew Carey as a sort of Dilbert thing so I wouldn't freak out as much if they did that. Still wouldn't like seeing it done though. (restricted) |

Saw it in 3D IMAX and it was amazing... and Shuyin I agree totally with you on the Fern Gully thing, more than the other three it was Fern Gully. But yeah, it was pretty and I really enjoyed it. |

Honestly, I agreed with the choice to ignore T3, it was just horrible.

But yeah, the reboot craze started to annoy me back when they remade Ocean's 11 and then did sequels. Granted, I like those movies... but to make sequels of a remake just seems... wrong. It just seems that our filmmakers have stagnated. Nothing new or original really comes out anymore, half the time if it does it's crap. On top of that there is a slew of copy cats that follow each new craze (notice how many vampire related things have come out in books and tv lately?). Has the entertainment industry truly become parasites?

Read the Kitty series by Carrie Vaughn. It's amazing, next book comes out in a few weeks. Read this series, it's awesome, I swear. Read Dragon Forge, book two in the Draconic Prophecies series by James Wyatt. Really good book, need to track down the last book now. Read The Gathering Storm which I made an individual thread on to rant on it's awesomeness. Just finished Nemesis by Isaac Asimov and I must say that Ben has finally succeeded in making a sci-fi fan out of me. Really cool story. Up next is The Crystal Mountain by Thomas Reid, book three of the Empyrean Odyssey. The series is not one of my favorites but I had to finish it and it has finally got some cool stuff happening by the looks of my skimming through this one.

But yeah, Ben and I are planning to go see it again this weekend at the normal theater for comparison (apparently the non-IMAX version is a bit more widescreen) so we wanted to check it out. Plus I would like to compare 3D to non 3D as the glasses did bother me for half of the movie.

It was slightly annoying at times but for the most part I was rather pleased with this past year. Got to do new things, adopted kittens, saw my team win the Stanley Cup.

Next year I finally get my BA! Yay a new decade marks a series of major transitions... like moving. It shall be interesting.

Yeah, the 3D craze is a bit insane right now. Nvidia is coming out with a 3D graphics engine so that you can play games in 3D. It looks neat but I really don't think that it's worth it. |

So yeah, saw it in regular theater and I actually liked it just fine. The 3D is neat for depth when they are moving through trees and such but it isn't necessary, the film was just as good without it.

I think that Clash of the Titan is fine to remake, as the original was just another telling of the Greek myth. And yeah, Liam Neesan is just amazing... though why he's in full plate I am not sure... at least it looks like full plate.
