Chapter One: Xodan Flats

It hadn't been long that morning when Fappy, her small pudgy black and white cat, wandered into the kitchen in hopes of swiping something from the replicator plate. Her beloved, Brandon, had taken to standing in the front yard watching the birds circle above the houses across the street, the ocean just beyond those structures. Miko, their shy little half-breed cat--a product of playing near the replicator plate while Harrison slept one afternoon--sat at Brandon's feet as the breeze ruffled her fur and shifted through Brandon's pajamas. The morning smelled heavenly with wafted scents from the Great Ocean and surrounding oak trees as Christine stood in the kitchen watching her love stand in the front yard. Just beyond him, the first of the three suns broke the horizon guiding its first beams of light through the dim living room filtering into the softly lit kitchen. She sighed, rolled her eyes, and walked towards the front door with Fappy following her a few steps behind.

She stood at the door watching her husband stand partially naked on the front lawn, the wind blowing through his hairy legs. "You planning on standing there half-naked all morning?"

He raised his head, and turned to face her. "Yeah, I was planning on it. Besides, the neighbors are on vacation." Miko walked around his legs then up to Christine. Miko meowed softly as she stared up at Christine, then shifted her gaze to the pudgy furry mass following her.

"Have you seen Harrison? The other two already ate, but his bowl is still full." She paused a moment to push back her flowing brown hair before glancing into Brandon's piercing hazel eyes, "I just need to know where that cat is. He took one of my datadiscs."

Brandon started walking past her towards the bedroom, "I'm sure his entire purpose today was to take your datadisc," he yelled from the bedroom, "and I'll be driving down to the Mass Transit station today. We're being deployed to Xodan Flats." He moved towards the table and sat down in front of the holodisc viewer; Miko jumped up onto the table and sat near the viewer. "Did you ever find out exactly how we got Miko?"

"Nope, that's your job. Your company designs these things," she motioned as she pointed towards the replicator plate, "Anyway, I'm needed in Zedari today because our editor in chief is stuck on the Mainland, and I have to cover the annual showers watch with Tom and Crystle."

"Really? I heard that Ryan might actually show up this time." He pushed Miko away from the holodisc viewer and inserted a disc sitting on the table. The viewer's projector dome rotated before producing a 360-degree rotational depth map of the arid fields near Xodan Flats. Several lighted dots began appearing on the fields at varying depths; a small data window appeared next to the rotational depth map scrolling several streams of data. Brandon sighed.

"Lots of work for you today, then? That is odd though, I didn't expect that Ryan would ever leave Erdu, let alone for the annual showers watch with the astronomers." She touched a few contacts on the replicator plate generating two steaming plates of food, and three smaller plates of cat food. Taking great care not to knock Fappy onto the replicator plate again for fear that he may evolve into something else, she carried the plates to the table before setting the bowls of cat food on the ground. "There has to be some kind of safety so that we don't randomly spawn cats using the replicator plate."

"Fappy evolving from a sponge and some of Miko's fur was just a little strange that night. I'm sure it had something to do with the approaching showers." He tapped the viewer, turning the holodisc off before settling back to eat his meal. "Mmm, textured proteins and carbohydrates."

"It's even more odd that Miko spawned from Harrison hacking a fur ball onto the plate to begin with. Wait," she stooped to retrieve a small holodisc from the beneath the table near her chair, "what's this?" She removed Brandon's datadisc and inserted the holodisc into the viewer. It beeped. Incompatible.

"Try the holoprojector in the living room; the holoviewer's not equipped for that format of disc." Brandon munched on his Eckta'arian sausages before dropping Miko off the table. "I'm hoping to meet up with Pat later this afternoon. He said he had a new gadget to show me."

"While you're there, can you get those datadiscs from Tom? I need those for...well, you know." She walked into their living room and placed the disc into a recessed reader on the wall. The holoprojectors came to life spinning around to recreate the solid image of their older cat sitting near the front door. A scrolling message beneath him revealed that he was taking leave, and knew not when he would return. His image "walked" out the door before the holodisc dissengaged. "What? He's leaving because he's needed and he doesn't know when he's coming back? What the heck is that?"

Brandon placed his empty plate back onto the replicator plate for disintegration before walking back up to his wife. He placed his hand on her lower back and drew her in close. His soft beard brushing up against her cheek as he kissed her then whispered, "I'll see you later tonight, Mrs. Demarantus."

"As shall I, Mr. Demarantus."

Floppies had their uses a long time ago. Some computers now still have them mostly as a boot disc device if your computer doesn't want/or can't boot from a CD. They've become practically obsolete. With USB drives, flash drives, and pen/thumb drives, you're able to hold much more data in a smaller footprint. They're easier to transport, and most computers today recognize them without a problem. As the size standard increases, we'll pretty much stop using floppies all together.

The newer Macs don't even have floppy drives built into them anymore. Some of the computers on my campus actually have the Super Drives which are Zip drives that can also handle the older floppies.

Realize, thought, that despite our having these technological storage advantages, there are still companies and people out there that depend on tape backup systems for their data. That technology has waned in the consumer world, but has held strong in the business world.

Which reminds me...I need a new data watch. The last one shorted out. But, it still tells time.

Every so often, the news media just doesn't actually pay any attention to what dribble they produce in their headlines. This is one of those instances:

"Something Went Wrong In Jet Crash, Expert Says"

"Police Begin Campaign To Run Down Jaywalkers"

"Panda Mating Fails; Veterinarian Takes Over"

"Miners Refuse To Work After Death"

"Juvenile Court To Try Shooting Defendant"

"War Dims Hope For Peace"

"If Strike Isn't Settled Quickly, It May Last A While"

"Cold Wave Linked To Temperatures"

"Enfield (
London) Couple Slain; Police Suspect Homicide"

"Red Tape Holds Up New Bridges"

"Man Struck By Lightning Faces Battery Charge"

"New Study Of Obesity Looks For Larger Test Group"

"Astronaut Takes Blame For Gas In Spacecraft"

"Kids Make Nutritious Snacks"

"Local High School Dropouts Cut In Half"

"Hospitals Are Sued By Seven Foot Doctors"

And the winner is...

"Typhoon Rips Through Cemetary; Hundreds Dead"

Gotta love the news...

I came out as me...I mean, Albert Fish.

That was somewhat lame, but okay. I guess we can assess the true nature of a killer based on 5+ questions. Because, you know, there aren't whole sciences dedicated to this entire field. No.

I'm mostly innocent, considering the gayness factor of the heterosexually motivated mostly male driven nature of the quiz, at a wonderous 72% pure. I choose to defy that and continue my wonderfully bitter homosexual ways.

Posted on 03-17-05 02:07 AM, in Sexual Preferences Link
My view is easy. I'm gay, deal with it.

A story, from last Saturday at work:

One of my coworkers had been filing her area of the CDs when two guys in the aisle over from her starting commenting about "bashing some heads in". She expressed her interest in doing the same thing, to which they answered if she had had a rough childhood. She explained that she hadn't, but just hated stupid people. At this moment, I walked up holding a CD Box Set for a collection of 80s songs entitled "OMIGOD!". You can probably guess what I chose to exclaim as I walked up to her.

She turns to me and says, "He's one.", alluding to the fact that I'm sometimes stupid. The biggest guy then turns to me and says, "Are you gay?", to which I reply, "Yes." He stops, and says "No, don't shit with me, man, are you gay?". I look at him, "Yes, why would I lie."

So he spins off into this story about Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve, at which point I just walk away because I know I'm not going to get through his thick skull, and hide in my office watching the cameras. It would defeat my purpose of being undercover to remain in the store where these
Spoiler:
fuckers
could follow me around harassing me. Since I have no company identification just yet, I can't just kick them out of the store either. So sitting in the office watching them on the cameras was just easier.

So, basically, I'm gay; I don't care that I'm gay, it's just my sexual preference. It doesn't rule my world. If I were straight, I'd still be a bitter little asshole. Now, I'm just a trendy bitter little asshole with fashion sense...sometimes.

**Thirty seconds to go...**

**CIA watches the group disappear towards the stadium, then stares at the desolate area where the A building used to be. Cairoi glares at CIA before disappearing into a bright white light. CIA stands in front of the dark figure, but decides to move the venue instead. He suspends a small pebble over the dark figure's head, then hits a contact on his armor's control panel. He is engulfed in a sharp bright light then reappears in the middle of the football field holding a military-like rifle, headset; armor still deployed, a low growl coming from deep within him. He stares down Aba...**

No, he's mine. But, you can have the blood if it's still slightly magical. **He glances towards Cryus and Elara** We've got less than twenty seconds, and both of you each specialize in stuff that can help a lot more on campus delaying the dark figure than you can here with the puppet. It'd be best if you two redeploy to the quad.

**CIA locks target and fires off a single blast that appears directly in front of Marcus obliterating the body into sub-atomic particles, completely destroying the goal post.** Oops, sorry, no blood. Shit! Now, I have a goal post to regenerate.

**A white light engulfs the area where the goal post used to stand, dissipating away to reveal the goal post and an eerily calm Cairoi. He walks forward and stops just passed Aba a few meters in front of CIA.**

I figured you'd destroy my first puppet, so I guess taking over your discarded Agent wouldn't be too much trouble.

But, time is still frozen, how did you...

You honestly think that an Agency time freeze was going to stop me. **The dark figure's sinister voice echoed through the stadium** You were seriously mistaken.

**CIA's scanning sensors picked up an odd anomaly in the possessed Cairoi...

He jumped towards WhiteRose whispering something to her, then stood at the ready...
**

Bring it on.

OOC: WhiteRose, I'll send you a PM on what I told you, and separate PMs to both Cryus and Elara about your special thingies...at least hints, if not the whole thing. Just in case you're all lost.

Chapter Two: The Mists

Pat dropped to one knee, his cloak wrapping around him, as he worked meticulously on the control panel he produced from an inner pocket. The device came to life in front of him, the top portion opening like a split coconut revealing a small satellite dish, spinning around to capture the secluded moonlight of Isis. Pat stood from his position stowing the control panel within his cloak starting his walk up towards the top of the plaza. Sounds of footsteps stopped his slow walk to the top; he lowered his head and placed his hand gingerly on his sword.

"These grounds are forbidden this time of night. State your purpose." the Night Squadron officer beckoned while holding his phaser rifle towards the darkened hacker.

Pat took a step forward, glanced back towards his device, then addressed the officer, "I have no purpose. However, we can do this one of two ways: you can leave, or we do it my way." The officer powered up his rifle, promptly falling to the ground in pain, his severed right arm landing next to him. Pat never moved, yet his cloak swayed despite the absence of wind. Pat lifted his head, his eyes gleaming in the soft moonlight, "I guess it'll just have to be my way, then."

The device's satellite dish whirred around towards Pat, the base illuminating blue lights around it. The officer sat up holding his rifle towards Pat, his breath irregular. He watched Pat's hand shift slightly, then gasped a bloody stream of air before collapsing backward onto the plaza floor, Pat's sword embedded deeply into the officer's chest. Pat walked up to the officer bending over to rest his weight upon the sword. The officer winced, his bluish gray blood flowing around him, "How? You never moved."

Pat stepped on his chest and pulled the sword out from his prey, "It won't be long now. Isis will take care of you." He stepped back from the officer as the device recharged emitting a single beam of pure white energy towards the officer. Instantly vaporized, the officer's only remnants being the blood stained steps of the central fountain. Pat shut down the device, ran his sword through the crystal blue water of the fountain, then walked back up the steps towards his apartment building.

No, I don't shower daily. Takes up valuable time. Sometimes, I take really really really long relaxing hot baths, but that's beside the point. I shower when I shower...usually in the morning, more often at night. And sometimes, that shower is preceeded by a hot bath. I don't take baths for the purpose of cleanliness...those often serves as my version of a stable jacuzzi.

But, the hotter the shower that I can take, the better. Sure, the walls start dripping with water, and my mom yells at me because of the added heat and water bill expenses, but it's worth it when it's just really cold outside.

But, Zoso's famous for his marathon showers lasting upwards to four hours.

I was a fan of the website before it become horribly popular back in the early days of web-based animation before the big flash boom. I liked Homestar because it wasn't like all the other sites out there. I'm still a fan. I'm not drenched in the wonders of H*R, and it hasn't taken over my life, but I like it.

Bonus Stage is something that has recently taken up my time as well because of its random humor, and well, just utter randomness. Guess it's just my nature.

I have the worst case of procrastination right now. Taxes are due next month, and I haven't even started them yet mostly because I know that I owe taxes, and I'm not getting a refund because I moved up in a tax bracket at some point last year.

Just thought that would be fitting. And, taxes are just one of those things you have to do. That, and getting the car's oil changed. And washed.

I loved Perfect Dark when it came out, and still would love to waste hours a day playing such a great game, but I preferred the franchise of Bond for my vote mostly because I couldn't remember what Perfect Dark was when I voted, and by then it was too late to change it.

I've always been a first-person shooter fan from way back in the days of the original Wolfenstein, Doom, and other such DOS driven games.

There's nothing wrong with shampooing and conditioning if you're a guy. Our society has created an entire sub-culture just for those straight guys that are in the know...metrosexuality. It's not even a real sexual orientation, just a sub-cultural definition of what most men would rather be considered without having the stigma of being considered gay.

Hell, I'm gay and don't get pedicures, manicures, facials, exfoliation, scrubs, and all the other luxuries touted by the fems of my sexual division. Heck, I don't even condition my hair...I don't like it that way.
