| Done going through "Une Semaine de Bonté." It's very abstract and it's sort of hard to understand what Ernst was trying to tell you frame by frame, especially since he made it from cutting up catalogs, books, magazines and anything he could get with pictures so the characters don't look the same page by page.
Really it's completely open to interpretation. Now we're focusing on "Kavalier and Clay." So much reading to do for other classes.  |

| It reminds me of the controversy over Catholic priests molesting altar boys because they shouldn't fornicate with women.
I do not condone rape in the slightest, especially when it comes to adolescents, but the ancient Greeks considered homosexuality the makings of becoming a man. It also sort of reminded me of how women were banned from so many things, including performing on stages during the Renaissance, resulting in men in drag (Dressed Resembling A Girl). In this whole regard, I can't help but feel sorry for them. But as mentioned, rape is NOT to be commended. |

| Another rig exploded yesterday off the coast of Louisiana.
We spent the better parts of spring and summer dealing with the big BP spill in the Gulf following a rig explosion which took the lives of 11 Americans. There's a whole eco-system that's trying to right itself. One of the main reasons to drill is to become more self-sufficient and not reliant on foreign oil (but then again that massive leak was from a British owned well  ).
What are your thoughts? |

| Just got back from watching "Machete." I liked it a lot, but I think you might have had to be a fan of "Grindhouse" to really get into it. I mean, it's an all right action film on its own, but you get a better experience out of it if you're into Robert Rodriguez's other movies. | |||

| Personally, I find it in some way amusing how we draw the line at watching animal cruelty, Elara.
I mean, I can watch someone break a jar that's been placed in their anus and pull out the bloody mess. I used to go through Rotten.com day in and day out when I was a kid, for fuck's sake. You can kill people off in a movie, but there's something distinctly painful about an animal dying or being harmed on screen. Real life is even more distressing. I think the fact that these creatures are innocent and are unable to grasp the evilness of some people. A person can be judged by how well they treat things perceived as lesser beings. Hence why the sign of a sociopath or the makings of a serial killer is someone who harms animals. And why they call the group out to help animals the Humane Society. |
