[I can see this going into the debate forum.]
Exactly. Holy and Evil are only magic elementals. Anybody can use them. Don't think of them as good or bad. Holy and Evil are just two words to describe the two magic types. Nothing more. If you let the words get you then yeah, you'll get that mentality or feeling. I don't even use the word Evil. I go by "Hell". By doing that it makes the elemental seem less like it's on a "side", but let's not get into the technicality of it. That's something we need to clarify to others. No magic elemental is good or bad. It's the person who uses them that is good or bad. The elemental types can maybe accent that trait, but it should not do any more than that. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 07-15-05 04:27 PM) |

Welcome to Xeogaming, Xion. I like your name. I'm Cyro Xero, but most people call me Cyro. It's good to see another sim battle come by. I admit, I haven't done any fighting in over a month. I'm actually running a "game" called Sim Battle Challenges. If you're interested you should definitely check it out. I just haven't updated anyone's fights in a while. Too long if you ask me. If you're looking for a fight, there are a few people here who are good. Myself, Elara, Leon, Shuyin, to name a few. We'll be happy to challenge you.
|
Recently I've been trying to do more for the sim battle community in terms of creating things for it rather than fighting, but I can provide a good challenge. I'm also a mod of the simbattle forum. If you want to talk about something relating to it Myself or Shaddow can help. I'm here to serve you. Again, welcome to the board. I hope you enjoy your time here. I was going to put Leon on the list, but if you want it to be a staff only thing then I'll leave it at that. However, we could make a rule indicating that non-staff trainers are forbidden from asking to become staff. This is, after all, a trainer thread and not a staff resume thread. Besides that, most people who are good sim battlers have been on boards long enough to know they shouldn't be asking in the first place. |

Wow, it used to be that no one could even ask to get an Acmlm board. Now there's a download page for it. I've been out of the loop for a while. |

Bot: Welcome to Xeogaming.

Shanan: Hey, want to play Taxes Hold 'Em? Bot: I believe the correct term is Texas Hold 'Em. Shanan (In thought) : What the flux? This bot ruined the joke. You may have joking when you typed that particular paragraph, Shanan, but I kid you not, that's exactly what would happen. Or, it might have said something to the extent of Taxes are small sums of money that people pay when purchasing items. I really would enjoy having an A.I. bot here on this board. I think I need to clarify what the whole picture of my views are so you can get a better idea of where I'm going with this.
|
Most of my magic elementals are based off science. (Thus the Energy and Anti-Magic elementals I've made up). You guys view light/dark and holy/evil as the same thing seemingly based on spiritual or alignment concepts. This probably stems from the games you play and the concepts that they have. Then again maybe it doesn't. I view light/dark and holy/evil as totally different because I've broken light and dark away from the holy and evil category, away from that concept. I no longer see Light elemental and Dark elemental as "good" or "bad". In my mind I've made them strictly scientific magic types. Real world physics. This means that the Light elemental spells I have are those of actual things in reality dealing with light waves, sunlight, UV rays, LED lights, ect. It's the same with Dark elemental- shade rays, lack of light, shadows, creating darkness, poor visibility, ect. Both relate to light, or lack of it. And neither have anything to do with the Holy or Hell elemental magic at all. This is why I say those 4 magic types are different from each other. Now, let's stray from the video game world of magic and focus on here, this board which is called "Xeo Gaming Forums". Games have thier own views of Holy and Evil magic. Why should we, at this board, have those two elementals indicate a certain alignment for someone? Why can't they just be normal elementals like everything else, granted one is for doing good and one for bad? If you're fighting somebody who happens to be weak against "Hell" elemental spells and your character is able to us them, are you going to say, "Oops, I can't use Evil spells because I'm not of an evil alignment."? In the case of your scenario it would be easy enough for me to distinguish what that person meant by using a "Light" spell. If he mentioned something about it being divine as you said then that right there alone indicates it's a Holy spell. And since no one else seems to use Light elemental magic like I do it's a no brainer. Besides that, people describe what their spells are, so they'll say what it is. Heh. Well, I haven't seen you in very long time, and I certainly didn't expect to see you here. Welcome to XGF. So, how has it been over at Acmlm's place? I heard it was sort of overrun by lamers lately, but that isn't the case now. Anyway, good to see you, Yoshi Dude.

This bot would be in a form made just for it. Actually, I think it was more of just a thread at GSC. It would be able to wander the board unless you found someway to program it that way. |

I think for you younger people sex is probably more of an issue than for someone my age. When you're still in highschool there's all that talk about sex and how you're not supposed to have it and how some people still do it. That can be a bit intimidating. For people my age sex isn't that big of an issue. Like someone said earlier, it's more a routine after the first time. I haven't heard of any emotional issues or anything bad from the tales I've heard. Everyone just does it and goes on with their lives. But it's true, sex can be overrated. If you haven't had it yet and think about it too much, it'll scare ya. |

The original argument is why Light/Dark magic should be called two seperate things from Holy/Evil magic. That's how I see them. Light shouldn't Holy and Dark shouldn't be Evil. Somehow it's slowly turning into a different argument.
|
Oy... You're misunderstanding what I said, Shanan. I don't where you're going with the whole evolution thing and "sciences magic". I never said my elementals were of science. I'm going to rephrase what I said before and say that only a few of my elementals are just based off science, meaning I got the ideas from the world of science (light, dark, energy, anti-magic. Not evil or holy). And many of my spells spawn from actual real life phenomena. (Pulars, light beams, lasers etc.) The way I use magic is from magic energy, a concept I created for myself but maybe other people have also gone by this in the past. Not "gunpoweder" or "dry ice". But what I do is irrelevant to this argument. And yes, light can be used as a deadly weapon by creating heat. Two of my Light spells do just that, but let's not get more into this. Here is a list of all the spells I have. spells You can take a look if wish. They're all list alphabetically and the elemental type is listed in paretheses. If you do, focus more on differences I've made with the Light/Dark/Evil/Holy elemental spells. Hopefully you'll have better understanding of what I mean and what my argument is about. I don't see Light and Dark as Evil and Holy. Let Holy elemental be Holy elemental and Light elemental be Light elemental.

I thought I'd let everyone know, to whom it concerns, what the role of trainers are. In a recent battle argument the two sides went to the trainers for help on a decision involving a debatable action. I'd like to clarify that the purpose of the trainers, as assigned when the concept was created and the positions made, are to train people who are willing to learn how to sim battle, or even give advice for fighters who already know how. As far as I'm concerned their duty does not involve refereeing fights or even looking over them. That responsibility falls on the moderators of the Sim Battle forum. That's one of the reasons why the mod positions were made for that forum in the first place.
|
Now, this brings up a very good question and/or idea: should we have a group of people, maybe the one we currently have as trainers, with a job to referee fights and train people? When I pondered about this I thought it was great idea and just about started to make a thread asking for everybody's opinions, but then I came to realize that, as I mentioned before, those are a moderator's tasks. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but there is one member of the trainer team who isn't staff. To have him go around and "control" fights, for lack of a better word, would make him seem like a mod to others. I'm sure a whole lot of normal members would just love to have that going on. Then there are/may be local mods from the other forums who could possibly be on this "referee team" but who aren't assigned to the sim battle forum. I don't really have much of a problem with that, but again, it would be like they're moderating the forum when it falls on only Shaddow and myself to control things that go on in there. Full mods and any battling admins are an exception. After reading all that, if it makes any sense to you guys, would you consider having a team around that does both the training and refereeing even though the moderators are already tasked with handling the issues that come up? Or do you agree that the trainers should be just trainers and nothing more, leaving the other responsibility to the respective members? Maybe whoever created the trainers also had in mind that they would take care of any problems that arose that weren't too big. I probably sound like I'm going a bit over my authority, but hey, it's my job as a moderator to keep things right.

Okay, well I have an idea. We can have a judging panel you all wish, but there will have to be certain guidlines for them.
|
First, no one will have to be on staff in order to be on this panel. You only have to have experience in fighting and be able to identify any cheapness in battle posts. Second, there will definitely not be biased votes toward another person. I don't want to see it. If you feel you're going to make your decision on something becuase you like or dislike a certain fighter then you better let us know. And be honest. We'll simply find a replacement for you to deal with that particular issue for the time being. A third rule will be that only an odd amount of people will on this panel. We don't need to have any 50/50 vote dilemas. I prefer to have 5. Not to little and not many. But 3 will work as well. The fourth one is that all big problems will be handled only by the mods of the forum. No one else needs to worry about them. Lastly, if you are on this panel you're job is to judge actions. That's all you need to do, that's all you will do. Nothing else. Unless you're a staff member whose duty includes watching over the Sim Battle forum you don't need to dabble in the other issues that may go on. If the mods are away for an extended period of time then do what you must. These don't have to be all the rules, but they are a very good start for having an honest team. This is assuming we are going to have one. Honestly, I feel that part of my job will be taken away, but I won't complain. It might help to have something like this incase Shaddow and I aren't on for a while. (Last edited by Cyro Xero on 07-20-05 04:25 PM) (restricted) | (restricted) | |
