It's been quite traumatising! Especially since my body was preparing for 110 degree weather and it only got up to 50! The humidity has also taken some adjustment: from extremely dry to extremely damp. It should make for a nice summer though. Christmas/holidays won't be too much different I imagine. I never thought I'd say it, but I really miss the brown of the desert and how empty it feels at dusk this time of year.
Another difficult thing for me is living in a city. New Zealand's capitol city at that. I'm thinking about moving out of Wellington and closer to my work, but we shall see. Coming from a place that has 360 days of sunlight a year to a place that has 86-ish days of sunlight and receives about 50 inches of rain a year... I think I can get used to it. Lol |

In short, security financially, emotionally and physically makes me happy. Having a long term plan or goal set in place to work towards, even if that plan changes or morphs into something else entirely.
Less seriously, my cat Eek. I miss him sleeping between my knees so that I couldn't move at night, or him meowing and nipping at me to wake up and feed him. His "squeaking" for me to come pet him when I got off work. And my boyfriend makes me happy beyond belief, but I think that goes without saying. |

Nothing more to say really. I'd like to thank you for this though, as I think I've learnt a lot about myself with your questions. They are things that I haven't given much thought about. | |||

Originally posted by Rogue I just watched that entire film. But yeah, awesome job on that costume. NZ doesn't do a whole lot for Halloween, so I didn't even bother dressing up (no one else did either). Halloween is definitely an American thing. |

Happy birthday. Sorry it's so late. And I'll join in the no booze on the birthday club. First time in years... Definitely felt wrong.
Anyway, hope you had fun! |

Several months back my boyfriend's dad asked if I would be going home for the holidays. Upon saying no, he immediately asked if I wanted to be with them for Christmas. It wasn't my boyfriend inviting me (though he did ask), but his -family- asking and inviting me. It nearly brought me to tears. So thankful for them.
As for having holidays off... It's weird out here. You get Christmas day and Boxing Day (the 26th) off, as they are public holidays, and then you get New Years day and the day after New Years off because they're also holidays. It'll be nice to have a lot of time off of work, but it's like, two days off, one day working, two days off, two days working, two days off, and repeat for the next week. So it's kind of a pain. Most places just have people off for the entire week between Christmas and New Years, but because I work in a call centre, I have to work all the non-public holidays. But I'm hoping I don't get too lonely and homesick for those days. I'm grateful for my boyfriend's family. I don't think I'd still be in New Zealand without them. |
