A couple years ago on the older Acmlm board there was a member name Ninja AE . I don't know the details, but he was really annoying a lot of people, staff included, and I think made horrible layouts. He was eventually banned, and people made fun of him soon after. It went so far that somebody evengot to the point where someone took a song by Eminem and did a little karoake. He made up his own words with "Ninja AE" included in them and let everyone on the board listen. The song wasn't good (mainly becuase you could barely understand the words), but it was pretty funny how somebody actually took the time to do sometihng like that.
One of the other things someone else did later on was make the "AE Torture" scheme to make fun of his layout "ability", which what you see now on the new board versions. Personally, I didn't see most of his layouts, but they must have been pretty bad if they made a scheme base on him.

Ask one of the older members of Acmlm's board about him and I'm sure they'll tell you a thing or two about him from back then. He was popular, but in a bad way.

One thing to note is that there are some veteran fighters on this board who have made "novel" posts in battles. It pretty much depends on who you run into here. I've also tried to teach some people to at least have a lot of content to their fights. I think a lot of them could use a bit more training in that area.

Well, it seems niether side will back down quite so easily. There is no need to be swearing so refrain from doing so here.

I've read through this thread and taken in everyone's opinions as to why and why not this rule should be made. To be honest, this something that even I would have probably come up with sometime. But to make it into a rule is something I'm not sure about. You guys, (the Shin-Ra, is it?) have a very good idea, and this idea would probably help settle a heck of a lot of misunderstandings and arguments. This doesn't even need to be a rule, and maybe shouldn't, because there is no way everybody will go by it. Not even most, sadly. Many fighters don't really think about HOW their stuff exactly works, just that it seems like a very awesome thing when they imagine or picture it inside their minds (this is sometimes even how cheapness manifests itself). They don't have much knowledge to give a good reason why their attacks or whatever do what they do and why something is indestructable when going against it. We've all actually started off that way it's just that some of us have evolved into better explainers over time and experience. And this might come with some arguments of its own. Some may have bad reasoning in their explaination of actions or events that seems perfect to him, but to the rest of us seem horrible or doesn't make sense. It might be the best the guy can do because while there may be something else he could add to make his thing legit, he won't be able to figure it out. So making this a rule wouldn't be fair to a lot of people.

Instead, what you could do, as some people have in the past, is explain your attacks in your profile so people can see how they work. OR, better yet, I could possibly make a thread in this forum with a rule that fighters would have to post how their weapons and attacks work so they can be justified in the event of an issue. So if something does come up in a battle and an your opponent says you were being cheap we can go to wherever you have your attacks listed and you can say,
"See, this is exactly how my action works. Your defense wouldn't work because it's a wrong type and..."
People can look at the logic behind your actions and the logic behing your opponent's and determine whose make more sense, and it would be hard for somebody to get away with cheap logic with me around. This is but one alternative I can think of for now.
I don't think I'll implement the rule here. Not yet at least.

I hope my reason is good enough. It could have been said better, though. I know your group isn't trying to " take over the board" or whatever. Ideas are always good to have. Believe it or not, I am just like you guys. I have good ideas once in a while that can bring new things to sim battling or even change certain aspects it of and fight with a style that I wish people could fights based off. You just want to make things better, and I respect you for that. There are many things we should implement here to make everyone better fighters. We just haven't thought of them yet. For now, just keep posting the logic behind your actions in your fights. If something does comes up then call on either Shaddow or myself. You'll have your arguement there already. If your opponent can't come up with a good one, then it'll just be an unfortunate loss for him. Again, I do like your concept. It's good to have people like you around.

And Leviathan, you're not the only fighter to incorporate a lot physics into RPing...

I can agree with you there Sparda. That was a good explanation. My concern is that people may not be able to explain an action well enough to where it would seem feasible or somewhat realistic. I think that's where a few problems can spawn. But, I could be wrong. I feel a little lost with this issue becuase I'm not sure exactly what I should do to for a compromise. It does seem that this is leaning toward "how you do it". For the most part it should be enough for people to get by, but there will always be something where logic is required to step in to prevent something totally outrageous from happening, as a way of explaining the reasoning behing the action. This "need" could justify the use of the thread I mentioned in my previous post so people could have the logic portion of their action already known.

My cousin and I have sword fights with broken off branches every once in a great while. The last time we had one was with two of his friends last month when he was on vacation. We had a 4-way stick fight. I could tell I improved since the last time we fought. I was being more offensive that defensive. I haven't had any formal training except maybe a thing or two in Taekwondo, but I'm better than your average stick fighting warrior.

I suppose I should start a fight since it's been a very long time from my last. Anyone can challenge me. There are a few things to note:

Be true to your character's abilities. If he would actually get hit by something, then get hit. On the other, if he would be able to dodge, they dodge it.

I use two original magic elementals- Energy and Anti-Magic. Energy is things like lasers and other energy weapon-like spells. Anti-magic deals with magic and anti-magic spells, much like matter and anti-matter exist. If you have a problem with these types let me know.

The setting is no where in particular. There are tall buildings nearby that you can enter, though. Grassy field with clear sky, little clouds, warm day and scarcely scattered trees about.

"Draw out my weapons, eh?" said Cyro, not intentionally replying back to the robot. "Not just yet."
There was brief pause before he came up with something to do to get the battle started. He examined the robot's position among the various buildings, noticing there was quite a bit of room to fight in between. The thought of having the fight held there seemed like it was worth trying at first, but Cyro had suddenly come up with a better idea that seemed would give him an advantage over the droid. Starting a fight so suddenly wasn't his style since it seemed a little awkward to him for some reason, but the sooner things got started the sooner it would be over.

At last moving something on his body, Cyro pulled up his arms and placed his hand little more than half a foot out from his body and facing each other. Particles of gray light appeared and began swirling inward toward the center space of both hands, creating a small and slow growing ball of magical light. Once the light grew to more than two inches in size it erupted with a flash. Cyro's spell had been cast.

Gray- A strong Non-elemental spell that causes a large gray explosion which greatly damages structures and landscapes, but not living organisms.

Cyro had targeted the middle of an outside section of a tall building near the robot. Many chunks of concrete big and small in size were torn away from the explosion and rained down toward his foe.

Home- N/A
Fighting Style- God-modding
Weapon: N/A
Special Attacks: N/A
Abilities: Able to god-mod
Background-

Created in the Lab 04 biological study area, Godd Modd was designed and built to be a dummy with the astounding ability to god-mod during fights. It is implanted with a God Mod Stone which radiates energy throughout it's body that allows it to god mod, but there is a serious flaw in the design that causes the energy to radiate this effect over a large area, allowing opponents to have the same ability. Because of this, challengers are able use their most powerful attacks to severely harm it, decide if it gets hit during their attacks and even successfully use status effects against it. Aside from lasting for quite a while during a battle, Godd Modd almost never wins.

Although it looks to be a useless weakling, Godd Modd does have attacks of its own and will not hesitate to use any if it feels threatened. Its weapons and innate magic, usually non-projectile weapons and moderate strength spells, vary each battle and can change during a fight many times.

Race- Angel
Age- 22
Eyes- Dark Blue
Hair- Long, White Silver
Height- 5'9
Weight- 115 lbs
Body Type- Athletic, Sexy
Innate Elements- Holy, Energy
Origin- Memorys
Home- Memorys
Fighting Style- Stresses defense a little more than offense. Fast movements allow her to get behind opponents to strike. High confidence in her abilities.
Weapon- Lucent Sword-
It is the 2nd strongest of the legendary, powerful swords of light. This sword emanates a holy glow and can bend light so drastically that the unaided eye can see an object billions of miles away.
Special Attacks-
Rush Slash-
A high velocity rush toward the opponent followed a strong slash while passing by.
Strike of Light-
Using light energy condensed inside the blade, a slash to an opponent casues an blast of light to erupt.
Holy Energy-
A sphere of Holy and Energy elemental energy emerges. Once in between user and opponent it explodes into an enormous aura field and causes more than moderate damage.
Heaven Streamline-
Large and long beams of holy light shoot out from all over her body and curve in toward enemies causing heavy damage.
Background-

Hailing from "The Sky of Memories and Eternal Dreams", this heavenly beauty has been endowed with excellent magic abilities and strong fighting skills. As an angel she is able to fly around her opponents with great speed and attack when they have become dazed. Her unusual combination of energy and holy magic make Astralasia a very unique magic user and can suprise enemies in battle. When she acquired the Lucent Sword it was a match made in heaven. The light and holy properties of the sword easily connected with her innate magic types and the energy from it enabled her a fluid fighting style that has yet to be matched. Though Astralasia already has the second most powerful sword of light she still strives to attain the legendary Quasar Blade, which is said to harness the power of the lesser 3 swords of light plus a power of its own.
Astralasia has a perky attitude(among other things), but keeps herself from becoming arrogant and cocky. Her bias for slightly more defense than offense provides good proctection and allows her to somewhat study how her opponent fights. The angel lives happily in the heavenly realm and enjoys meeting new people. She'll sometimes challenge others to test her skills in combat and then train herself to improve on any flaws that have surfaced. Everyone has good respect for Astralasia and view her as a great friend, also admiring her very friendly demeanor. When she feels the need to relax, Astralasia loves to spend her time tanning and swimming at a large pool.

Background-

Created in the Sim Battle Character Developmental Forum, the near flawless humanoid MES-SBOCC 1 (pronounced “mess bock”) robot is the first and also a prototype battle robot designed and built specifically for fighting in arena and field combat. The full title for the acronym "MES-SBOCC 1" is Magic Energy Supported Superior Battle Operating Combat Cyber version 1, and, as the name implies, the robot is able to use magic by means of a device inside which draws in magic energy within the surrounding area and is released through the robot’s palms. In fact, it has been built with the ability to cast more than one spell at a time, enabling for even more destructive attacks. Although MES-SBOCC is Electric and Energy elemental based, it is not limited to spells of just those types, but it is strongest when using them. Despite it's seemingly heavy structure, MES-SBOCC has quick reflexes and is very mobile, reaching running speeds up to 30 mph and leaping as high as 10 feet. Often when in combat its personality can seem quite ruthless, for it runs a set directive and will use any method to execute that command until the mission is finished or it becomes disabled. With its determined glowing red eyes and super sleek design just looking at MES-SBOCC is enough to make one feel intimidated.

In addition to being able to use magic, MES-SBOCC also has some very unique components installed inside its body. The nano-repair system slowly regenerates any part of MES-SBOCC’s body where it has been wounded. The MEAD enables MES-SBOCC to draw in magic energy to use for spells. Its reactor also has this device, but converts it into never-ending power for the robot to stay active. The amazing CEA device enables MES-SBOCC to slowly adapt to any magic elemental constantly being used against it until it becomes invulnerable. The robot’s special functions include transformation into a few different pre-programmed forms, fast mobility and multiple spell casting. It can also discharge a powerful blast of stored magic energy directly at a foe from a cannon within its chest area.

MES-SBOCC may look simple at first glance, but it has a few other special abilities that are currently unknown and may yet surprise its opponents. It is more than what it seems.

-Project MES-SBOCC 1 creator- Cyro Xero. Character Discussion/Developmental Forum Lab, Sim Battle Board LLC. copyright Maticolotto, 2003-

About the CEA. MES-SBOCC gradually becomes invulnerable to an element if it is constantly being damaged by it. After about 4 attacks of the same magic elemental it no longer affects the robot and remains so through the rest of the battle. To prevent this from happening, using a different element to attack is required before the adaptation, thus restarting the process.
