Well, it's sort of like every great human achievement.
Look at books. For centuries only the most wealthy could read or buy books, especially when books were handwritten. Then they became more readily available through movable type, and now there are books everywhere. Not to compare a complex medical procedure to mass production, but I suppose we should rejoice in the fact that there's progress. Unfortunately, however, those who are sick now may not be helped. I'm sure the doctors are only interested in saving lives; their administrators, the drug companies, and so on might be more interested in their wallets. |

The man's wife just came forward to defend him.
SOURCE (with video) She calls him a "gentle giant" and "what he did was wrong in the eyes of the law and society, probably." This poor woman is obviously going through a lot. On another note, the man was a convicted stalker who kept intimidating his wife, even sitting in the woods outside her house with a gun. |

Just turned in my last final. Not feeling too great about it...
|
Well, I got a B on the first paper and an A on the second, I've got nearly perfect attendance (we were allowed one unexcused absence), I did all the journal entries she required, and I participated in class. So long as she gives me credit for turning in the final I should be OK.

I'll be honest. I didn't feel one bit of sympathy for his wife. The guy seemed like a prick.
|
I hate to mock the dead or judge someone for what was obviously a bad decision, but come on. The moment his widow said, "What he did was wrong in the eyes of the law and society, probably," I snickered. " ... and society, probably"? WHAT? You pull a gun on a bunch of unarmed people, not explain yourself in any way whatsoever, and just start shooting -- that's against society, culture, the law, the 10 commandments, Sesame Street, EVERYTHING WE'VE BEEN TAUGHT NOT TO DO. The only thing he did right was miss A LOT.

So.. the flu? Whenever I get the flu (I've only gotten it twice, but I've gotten the common cold probably 100 times), my joints hurt, I feel like vomiting whenever I've had any sort of food, I'm cold, yet burning up, and pretty much everything else I've listed.
|
The majority of symptoms should pass really quickly.

I think we may have volunteered to go to Vegas on Monday.
|
My grandmother's been moping around the house all of yesterday because she just heard that he sister's husband has passed away and there's no way should could get to the funeral. My mom, in turn, is somewhat dismayed because the funeral is being held Monday, when both she and my father have to work. Since I just turned in my last final of the semester, I sort of said, "Hey, we could take her." It's probably going to be just a drive there and drive back sort of trip, but I love stopping at the little things along the way. On average, it's a 4-hour drive.

Well, you know, school was holding me back. So I have NOTHING better to do than hang around here for days at a time.

You know, until the annual road trips start up.

I have an obsession with documenting days of my life sometimes for fear that if I don't, I won't remember what I did that day and it's like it never happened, like it it was wasted or something.

Fuck losing the energy to write the final I composed and turned in yesterday. I ended up spending 2 hours shopping for things to make for breakfast and lunch, bouncing between stores for the perfect bread, meat and cheese.
|
Fuck feeling tired ALL the TIME.

I honestly am not sure. I think the one time I woke up really scared and upset was when I was 5 or 6 I had dreamt that my parents were dead. I woke up with the cold realization of my own mortality and that everyone I knew and loved would eventually die.
|
Nothing as intense as that since, I suppose. What author has had the largest effect on your life and in what way?

Only 6 episodes and it's nominated for Best Drama by the Golden Globes?
|
House seriously deserves that spot, especially for that amazing season finale last May.

Now that I'm finally able to dedicate time to reading whatever I want, I checked out as many graphic novels from the library as I was allowed (limited to 15 items at a time ), and am re-reading the first volume of "Chew" right now.
|
Then I'll move on to "Chew" volume 2, volumes 3 and 4 of "Ooku," and then I'll be going through the first seven volumes of "Transmetropolitan." Then... then, when I've read all of these things by Monday, then I will pick up an actual novel. I've got a nice stack to go through.

Listening to Pandora.

Right now it's Annette Hanshaw singing "Happy Days Are Here Again." Now it's "Beyond Time" by Apocalyptica. Now playing is "Miami" by Al Jolson. And now it's "Kantaiso" by Korpiklaani. And then it switched to "Lull It By" by Greg Brown. And now it's "Life in a Tenement Square" by Flogging Molly. Now: Cherry Poppin' Daddies performing "Zoot Suit Riot." And now it's "Last Goodbye" as sung by the late Jeff Buckley. "To the Races" by Eric Bachmann "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart" by Judy Garland. "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo" by Jimmy Durante. Good stuff.
