Fuck you, Los Angeles television media. The TOP news is seriously Britney Spears' new tour, followed by some dog needing a home, and then L.A. trying to get a third NBA team? Really?
OK, a new basketball team would mean money for us, but STILL... fucking Britney's tour trumps news of Libya, Japan, Iraq, Afghanistan, local news, and EVERYTHING else? Priorities, L.A. media. You have none. UPDATE: The ONLY story involving any of the countries above left out of the top stories that came up AT ALL during the telecast was on the Libyan rebels fleeing. It came 40 minutes into the news. Before that was a piece on a frat guy having sex on a roof at USC and someone from the ground taking pictures. All they showed through that story was a stock photo of the building as the anchor said, "We choose not to show the photos," in an uppity manner. Right, Fox 11. Redeem your quality by withholding photos already censored and taken from far away. For the curious, here are the photos: http://imgur.com/a/2RfCA#OXfTu (Last edited by Rogue on 03-30-11 04:10 AM) |

My weekends are almost entirely BOOKED all the way to June.
Heading up to San Francisco tomorrow evening for WonderCon, Comic-Con International's Bay Area comic book convention. Then there's four more conventions, faire, a visit to Brandon's dad in Central California (probably going to do some hiking), and two graduation ceremonies. |

So what are your thoughts of the new Wonder Woman costume? It's for the NBC pilot that's currently being shot.
Link to photos from shoot: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=75740 Here was a photo they released of the new costume. It's slightly different: It looks like they're trying to reflect the new costume in the comics, since Diana was fairly recently given pants in place of the star spangled-hot pants. Honestly, it looks rather silly, especially the red vinyl. I mean, I know super heroes dress like this in comics, but once put into practice in "the real world" of movies and TV shows that take place in the present, it just... well, doesn't look right. |

Yeah, you might just be onto something there. This really does look like a page out of Cosplay in America.
I mean, like on something like say Smallville, which this sounds like its in the same vein, they sort of downplayed the costumes. Same with Heroes, and hell, even most modern comic book movies. You don't see Hugh Jackman running around in yellow Spandex. I think that's part of why Superman Returns didn't do as well as something like Batman Begins or Dark Knight. Granted, someone with special gadgets running around in an armored bat-suit isn't very credible, but it's more realistic than a guy in blue tights with a red cape flying around. |

I just finished watching Terminator Salvation for the fourth time ... today.
We borrowed it from the library, along with a few other movies, but since I keep forgetting to take it out while I've been working online today, it's just been playing on a continuous loop. I switched to Leap Year, starring Amy Adams and the guy who played Ozymandias in Watchmen, but then turned it off to watch Survivor. Sigh... I'm so bored. |

I'm sorry that this is all happening to you, Sagin, but it's great that it's not to that stage. I truly hope you come out of this 100% well and intact.
But look at it this way. At least you're not a horse: |

Leaving for San Francisco tonight for a comic convention with Stitch and a friend of his.
It's the beginning of a string of weekends where I'm either doing a convention or a Renaissance faire or something of the like. Gonna be interesting. Thankfully, I'm leaving Southern California during a heatwave. SF will have a high of 61 this weekend. |

If I saw this running at me, I wouldn't go, "Whoa... hero coming through!"
More like, "Man, did Hollywood allow the costumed beggars to come back?" |

I am heading to AX in July, but what are you looking for?
There's always an avenue in getting what you want in the geekverse at any time. My cousin's still got distributor connections through his old business. |

They also added OMG and the slang term for "muffin top." No joke.
I'm still amused that cromulent is in there now. We shall hold out hope for embiggen. I mean, in a way it's both evolution and degradation. Language is always changing and to not include new words and their definitions as they come along, we fail to grow. At the same time, it would be a shame that future generations might look on "LOL" as an educated inclusion to their vocabulary. But again, many of the words we say are "degradations" of passed words. English is constantly bastardizing other languages: Latin, Greek, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, etc. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-08-11 01:41 AM) |

Fuck coming home from a trip that involved VERY LITTLE sleep and discovering that your family was withholding that your mother had to have part of her abdomen cut away due to a cellular infection.
Just got back from taking my mom to the clinic to get checked up. They haven't sewed up what they cut away at yet for some reason or another. Before taking her I had just gotten back from class (we had actor Sung Kang as a guest speaker) which I had to go to IMMEDIATELY after getting home from a long car-ride down from San Francisco. Thankfully, Mom's all right, but yeah. Fuck.. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-04-11 09:21 PM) |

Honestly, that last picture reminds me of Olivia Munn, and that bothers me, especially since she released that book, "Suck It, Wonder Woman."
Olivia Munn can DIAF. |

I started filling this meme out while I was at work and on the verge of falling asleep. I occasionally come back to it, PMing it to myself when I don't feel like finishing it, or can't. Since I'm kinda bored right now (and beat up from a recent trip), here's the finished survey (hopefully).
1. What time did you get up this morning? - Didn't sleep last night. Was driving since midnight and napped a little here and there, but overall was on the road as the sun rose. 2. How do you like your steak? - Medium rare. 3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? - I think the last movie I paid the first-run price for was True Grit back in December. Since then I saw No Strings Attached in the cheap theater. 4. What is your favorite TV show? - As always, I will only answer for shows currently on the air (since my list of shows already off is SOOOOO long): Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, House M.D., and Mythbusters. 5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? - In a museum-like villa in Greece with a view of the Mediterranean. London would be my second choice. 6. What did you have for breakfast? - A Bolivian empanada and Vietnamese iced coffee, gotta love international food festivals. 7. What is your favorite cuisine? - Greek food, followed by Chinese. 8. What foods do you dislike? - The usual stuff is Indian food and pickles, but I think I'm REALLY hating salmon patties these days. 9. Favorite Place to Eat? - Arizona. It seems like all of the really good eating is over there, be it Chinese-Mexican food, hamburgers served by scantily-dressed nurses, or tacos on Native American fry bread. 10. Favorite dressing? - Creamy Caesar. 11.What kind of vehicle do you drive? - Whenever it gets put in my name, a white Volvo. 12. What are your favorite clothes? - Renaissance faire garb. If we could dress like that all the time, I totally would. 13. Where would you visit if you had the chance? - I'd do a sea voyage of the Mediterranean stopping in Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Croatia, Italy, Morocco, the south of France, going through Gibraltar, and sailing up to London. <3 14. Cup 1/2 empty or 1/2 full? - Depends on what it is, I guess, but honestly, why can't the cup just BE? While I'm pessimistic usually (more cynical, really), I have never uttered that something was "half empty" ever. 15. Where would you want to retire? - See #5. 16. Favorite time of day? - Early afternoon. Most things are open and the day could go ANYWHERE. 17. Where were you born? - West Covina, California. I have lived in Los Angeles county all my life. 18. What is your favorite sport to watch? - It used to be baseball. 19. Who is your favorite superhero? - I have MANY, but it's Rogue above all others. 20. What is the furthest you have walked? - I really don't know. I've spent days walking cities and hiking. This past weekend was FULL of walking around San Francisco. The longest hike I can remember right now was probably 8 miles long with a lot of uphill walking. 21. Have you ever won a contest? - A few art ones in elementary school. A few months back I won a comic book trivia contest naming off the members of the Endless. 22. Bird watcher? - Not specifically. I'll stop and look at them during hikes, though. 23. Are you a morning person or a night person? - Both and neither at the same time. 24. Do you have any pets? - Two cats: Miko and Tiki. Tiki apparently caught a bird this morning. 25. Any new and exciting news you’d like to share? - I'd rather not jinx it. 26. What did you want to be when you were little? - A marine biologist. Got accepted into university specifically for it, originally. 27. What is your best childhood memory? - REALLY hard to choose. I suppose traveling with my parents a lot. 28. Are you a cat or dog person? - Both, but more cats these days due to convenience. 29. Are you married? - Nope. 30. Always wear your seat belt? - Yep. 31. Been in a car accident? - A few. Only one involved our car being totaled. 32. Any pet peeves? - Several. I have little, old lady nerves, but I think my biggest annoyance is when people talk or make noises during a movie. 33. Favorite Pizza Toppings? - Sausage, crispy pepperoni, and mushroom. I've developed a hobbit-like obsession for fungi. 34. Favorite Flower? - Lavender for the smell and baking with it. Hibiscus for sentimental reasons. 35. Favorite ice cream? - Honey lavender. 36. Favorite fast food restaurant? - I really don't know. I don't love mainstream fast food places. Maybe Popeye's because the mashed potatoes have this addictive gravy and you can get all sorts of savory things. 37. How many times did you fail your driver’s test? - Failed the permit a couple times since I did it without reading the manual. Never failed behind-the-wheel. 38. From whom did you get your last email? - This rep from Wizard World about an upcoming convention. 39. Which store would you choose to max out your credit card? - Hmm, probably this Native American-owned shop in Sedona. It's full of furs, beads, leathers, and so on that would make AMAZING Renaissance faire and other period pieces. If I had a credit card and didn't care about maxing it, I'd dump all that money on vendors at Comic-Con. 40. Do anything spontaneous lately? - Constantly. 41. Like your job? - I'm interning right now. It's BORING. 42. Broccoli? - I'd love a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup right now. 43. What was your favorite vacation? - Too many I loved. I think my most recent one in Arizona where we spent two days at an Old West steampunk convention in a ghost town and another day at a wonderful Renaissance faire, all in costumes, was quite spectacular. We'll see if we can beat it. 44. Last person you went out to dinner with? - Lee and Kate. Ate at this Mexican place in the Castro (the gayest place on earth) that had several drag queens chowing down on burritos. 45. What are you listening to right now? - House is on the tube. 46. What is your favorite color? - Process magenta, magentaish-purplish colors in general, and green. 47. How many tattoos do you have? - None yet. 48. Who was your last phone call from? - My Asian American film professor. She wanted to know if I taped Sung Kang speaking today in class. 49. Do you know anyone who's spent time in prison? - Several. It's classified. 50. Coffee Drinker? - Incredibly so. |

There was a bullet-riddled body found in a car, around the corner from my house and across the street from a pre-school.
Fuck whoever's responsible for that. (Last edited by Rogue on 04-06-11 02:04 AM) |

Brandon just got back from picking up drinks at the 7-Eleven that's in the strip mall, of which the body in the car was found behind, and saw a memorial and pictures of one of the clerks hanging up in the front.
There are no news stories naming the dead person or even a photo of him, so we're not sure if it's a coincidence or if he was the man in the car. It's a fairly new 7-Eleven (less than a year old), but some shady people were starting to hang out in front regularly, and Brandon and I have been there when people have shoplifted. It's so weird and disconcerting that this happened a mile from my house at a place I frequent. Jeez, fuck this. |

Despite the downs lately, I picked up my cap and gown and graduation tickets today.
I'm gleefully wearing two tassels indicating my dual majors. Now to fill out all of the registration crap for participating in the Filipino Grad Ceremony a week before Commencement. |
