Merv is what Brandon and I jokingly called the giant California spiny lobster at the Cabrillo Aquarium. Since we go there just about every other weekend, we usually paid a visit to "Merv." He died a couple weeks ago, but occasionally I think about and genuinely feel sad.
Incidentally, Merv is what I name everything. My iPod is named Merv. Every grunion I ever hatched is named Merv. Etc. Just graduated. I feel tired. |

The U.S. Supreme Court has decided to uphold a case that put forth that California's prisons are overcrowded and at least 33,000 inmates need to be released as soon as possible.
One of the main arguments is that the inmates aren't getting proper enough health care or are in some situations where they'll be placed in a space the size of a phone booth while the authorities decide what to do with them. Source There are no details on the crimes committed by these soon-to-be released criminals, but most are assuming they are murderers, rapists, thieves, drug dealers, and so on. So, what are your thoughts on this? What do you think of prison overcrowding? And what do you think about providing more comfortable conditions for convicted felons? |

Those are some fascinating stories, ladies.
Belial, I definitely recommend looking into your mom's side. You never know what you'll find out. If you can sit down and talk with someone, even better. I started trying to record my grandmother's story a couple years ago before she got too... well... senile to be able to figure out what's going on. It's difficult to talk to her these days because she either can't hear you and you have to repeat yourself five or so times and shout in her ear or she can't recall things any more. I asked her about life in the Philippines, WWII, being interrogated by Japanese and almost killed, and coming to America. I wish my grandfather was still alive. He died when I was 11 and he was a really interesting man. I want to try recording my dad's dad, since he was in the military during WWII, but I'm not particularly close to him. In fact, I haven't spoken to anyone on my dad's side in nearly 10 years. When I was in high school, I sat next to him at a family gathering and tried to get him to talk about being on a naval vessel hit by kamikazes and he wasn't interested. |

I'm so glad I'm not alone.
I didn't see it when it came out in theaters, and every time it came up in conversation somewhere, like class for instance, you'd hear people go, "Are you talking about The Hangover? That movie is HILARIOUS!!!!!" People were going as Zach Galifianakis with "Carlos" for Halloween and so on. So when I finally saw it - completely bored. I felt like my 15-year-old self in that theater in Texas trying to watch Dude, Where's My Car?, all over again. I just stared at the screen in bewilderment while people around me were near vomiting laughing so hard. I mean, yeah it had its moments, but it wasn't the funniest movie ever like the majority of people around were insisting. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-24-11 11:45 AM) |

Fuck you, Budget Rent-A-Car clerk, for taking over an hour to serve three parties in a fucking express line for people who paid for their rental online ahead of time. Insult to injury, you keep trying to say we need a bigger car because we're fat.
Fuck people who notice you're taking a picture and then stand between you and the thing you're trying to photograph. I can understand just walking through, as rude as they can be, but really? Deciding to stand there? Went through this all weekend. Fuck people who brag about how they're great liars. For one thing you're taking pride in deception and on another note you're pretty much making everything you say from here on out suspect. |

Thank you, Cal State Fullerton, for really being a great school. I mean, we had our differences, but damn, I feel like I spent the best three years of my life (so far) with you.
Thank you, American studies department, for being the biggest collection I've encountered of professors who are passionate about what they are teaching and carry a great respect for their students. It's because of you great folks that I'm graduating. |

Just saw Your Highness. If you're a Danny McBride fan it's at least watchable, but otherwise it got a little painful to sit through at times. Once Natalie Portman's character finally showed up it went a bit smoother, but yeah... painful.
It was like a stoner gorged himself on Lord of the Rings, Labyrinth, Willow, The Dark Crystal, Legend, Clash of the Titans, and Star Wars, washed them all down with a bucket of bean burritos and maple syrup and this was the feces found in the toilet the next morning. |

Yeah, Korean pop culture is interesting.
I mean they turned eating at Pizza Hut into a Pussycat Dolls-esque dance: That 2 PM one more reminded me of O-Town's "Liquid Dreams" video for some reason, though. |

Granted, but in order to get to the deep tissue, all the layers of skin on your back have been removed. Oops, you're bleeding to death.
I wish someone would cancel Two and a Half Men already. |

Out of character for me, but I'm watching the American Idol finale show.
I don't know who the finalists are and I haven't watched an episode of this show since the first season, back in high school, when Kelly Clarkson won. Anyway, just saw Judas Priest sing "Living After Midnight" followed by Jack Black singing "Fat Bottom Girls." Oh. My. God. I need a beer. Out to the Rogue festival once the boyfriend gets home from band practice. |

As far as I can tell this is the best figure of him yet.
I'm wondering what he would look like next to Kotobukiya's bishojo Rogue statue. |
