So... whatcha eatin'? Hell, what was the LAST thing you ate even? Or what are you planning to make for lunch/dinner/etc? Where you headin' for grub later? I just had Popeye's Rip'n chicken with mashed potatoes (oh my god, sausage gravy). I had it yesterday, but the potatoes and gravy are addictive. |

| So the news has been gearing up to talk about this video of a firefighter dealing with a car that ended up exploding in his face for the past hour, but they keep wanting to talk about the east coast earthquake and Steve Jobs stepping down from the top spot at Apple. So I just went ahead and looked it up.

| Went to a friend's birthday dinner a couple nights ago. Turns out Brandon and I were the only people who showed up despite there being many people invited and several who said they'd come on Facebook.
Worse than that, his girlfriend had miscarried that morning. What the fuck, world? |

| Just fuck it.
I heard from Mom that Uncle Steve, one of my dad's two living best friends (not really related to me, but whom I've known before I could remember), apparently fell down and has been taken to the hospital after he was found not moving. Uncle Steve has been closer to me than any of my blood and related-by-marriage uncles. We used to tease each other a lot when we'd visit or go to dinner with him and his wife (Aunt Rosella). Best times were when we'd play miniature golf. Anyway, Uncle Steve's been sick a lot on top of being wheelchair-bound (too weak, not paraplegic) and this has probably been his fifth time in the hospital this year for one reason or another. Fuck aging. Fuck getting old. Fuck the possibility of losing a loved one. I really hope he comes out of this OK. |

| Since I've got a month of free Hulu Plus I'm watching as many old shows as possible before canceling my subscription. Right now I'm working on The Greatest American Hero.
I was watching a few episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess, but when I suddenly got an itch to watch Hercules The Legendary Journeys and discovered they don't have that one, I got a bit sad. |

| I don't know what's up with the CW, but I've been up passed 3 in the morning the last couple nights, turned on the TV, and realized they were playing one really depressing movie about black history in some form or another. A couple nights ago it was Glory, but last night it was Amistad.
I'd seen Glory many times in my young life, but I'd never seen Amistad. My god, how did I go so long without seeing it? It's so good. I mean, I've really got to dig in and double check their history, but the flashbacks to being captured, being on the ships... holy shit. |

| I know you've got Broadway and all that, but you're really outdoing us here in the West in terms of drama queen over-reactions.
Hurricane Irene downgraded to Tropical Storm Now with that said, I'm sorry to the families of the 18 who have died; however, one of the 18 was a girl who was in her father's car that crashed in an intersection due to the traffic light being out. Sad, to be sure, but attributed to a tropical storm? Hm... Anyway, for the past couple weeks, our news on this coast has been swamped with your cries of anticlimactic disasters. I know 9/11's 10th anniversary is coming up, and that many of you initially thought the earthquake was an attack, but can you calm down a bit, please? Much love, California P.S. Sorry to the rest of the coast, which has been making far less ado about their situation, and hope you all are well.
