But this year... this year is my first holiday season in Pennsylvania, where it is just me, Ben, and his mom. It already feels kinda lonely, even though I am glad that I don't have to deal with the family drama. There will be no post-Thanksgiving gaming session with my friends, or holiday parties, or anything like that. Just the three of us, the dog, and the cats. I get to go buy a pack of "Happy Holidays" cards to mail out to people, and that is about it... maybe some gift cards to stick inside some of them, or just send my parents some extra money to add on to the stuff they spend to get family presents. Sorry, this is just the first moment that the lonliness of this year hit me. Hey, at least I get snow, right? |

| Considering how badly people view the cutting off of Asian immigration in the 19th century, I don't really see how they can realistically see this as a good idea. It is just another distraction from the real problem, which is that there is not enough job creation going on, and immigration has no bearing on how many jobs a business owner chooses to create. | |||

So the other day I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies from scratch, they turned out super soft and yummy. I send some to Nelrith as a bribe for burning me My Little Pony on dvd so he can comment more on them if he chooses. Apparently dinner tonight is meatballs and alfredo with noodles. I haven't really been cooking much since we started doing the overnight shifts, I just cannot get to sleep easily lately. |

I am currently working two jobs. One of them is back at Iron Mountain, and is a graveyard shift, which has the fun side effect of making me want to spend all time not at work sleeping. I miss out on a lot. Of course I still work two days at Giant Eagle, so I get to see daylight... sorta. And I also get to be a zombie. Thanksgiving will be my first day off in over a month. |

So... I work at a grocery store, as I have stated before. They apparently have decided that they are going to open at 3am on Black Friday. Anyone else as baffled as I am? My only theory is it's to sell gift cards. Giant Eagle has this system called fuelperks where when you spend $50 at their store, you get 10 cents off per gallon at their gas stations, so gift card sales are always a big thing, especially when they offer bonus fuelperks for certain cards. They even run commercials based on it (Remodeling your home? Buy Lowes or Home Depot gift cards at Giant Eagle and save on gas while you're at it!). Honestly, I think in cases like those... and for gifts in general, it really is a good system. People get free tanks of gas doing this shit, and in an area where people drive gas guzzling trucks because they actually need them for work on farms and crap you can imagine how popular that is. Especially because they have a counterpart system called Foodperks where for every 10 gallons of gas you buy, you earn 1% off the total of your shopping bill (up to 20% off per order). It's not as good as the Fuelperk system in my opinion, but once you hit the point where you are getting that 3% for filling your giant truck and getting the gas for free I suppose it works pretty well. |

... and it's probably the Christmas dinners at Rosy's house. I looked forward to them every year, and I really hated missing last years because of the move. That or the post-Thanksgiving 2009 gaming session we had at the apartment to finish Legacy of Fire. Totally epic and we played until the next day and then went out for breakfast.
