I want a blue iBrator dammit! Even if they don't really exist and I don't care about the whole iPod crap. My watch works just fine for its 32 or so songs I listen to. I don't need over 1000 with me in the car, I only get to listen to 3 to 5 songs on the way to work anyway.

Today, the Hacker/Gamer had to return to college/technical school. But, since some kind of storm caused strong winds and some sort of flood advisory, I skipped out on driving the 20 miles to school in pouring rain on LA's freeways.

Instead, I get to go to school tomorrow. But, my block did suffer a lovely power outage that killed my TV and forced us to play the piano for several hours by candlelight. I was quoted tonight as being Liberace.

We played "Heart and Soul" for hours as I taught this horrendous melody to my cousins, played random renditions of the themes from "The Simpsons", "King of the Hill" and "Rugrats", and overall did stuff with battery powered appliances because there was only enough power in our house to--oddly enough--power the laptop.

But, I shall return to class on Saturday. Yes, I voluntarily have Saturday classes. A single, five hour class for algebra-like problem solving, but still a five hour class in the middle of my Saturday. Time I'd rather spend with the man. Not, "the Man", but the man. Nevermind.

I want to know how you can misspell the word "inevitable" in the title, but then spell it correctly in your post? And, I also want to know how a possession of obvious knowledge to use the word correctly somehow hinders your ability to create grammatically correct phrases?

That aside, it's a matter of choice. Take this morning. I could have gone to school. I could have sat through four hours of boredom and several minutes of driving in the rain, wind, and horrible weather. But, I chose to sleep in because of the horrible weather. By not going to school, I was allowed to be at home to survive through several hours of a power outage. By deciding that I didn't want to go to school, I was able to teach my cousin to play a song on the piano.

Drawing from the school of thought interrelated to quantum physics and other spiritualities and theories derived from that, I give you the premise behind the movies "What The BLEEP Do We Know?" and "The Waking Life". Under the guise of these two most excellent films, we are presented with the possibility of molding the entire existence of everything around us; creating the aspect that the world does not exist because it does, but because we create it around us all the time. And, because there are infinite possibilities, it is possible to create any existence we want if we try hard enough and believe in the abilities of quantum manipulation.

On the quantum level, nothing touches nothing. To quote the person (whose name I forget) that created another school of thought called the "Power of Intention", "we come from nowhere. Notice the spelling; 'N-O-W-H-E-R-E'. We live our lives in the 'now here'; same spelling. We end our lives returning to 'nowhere'." Should I decide that I want to live a better existence for myself, I can make it happen. It may not manifest itself instantly, but I believe that it will happen. Whenever that time comes.

Shit happens, get over it. It is, also, not your theory exclusive. It may your adaptation of several theories, but it is not exclusively your idea.

Well, not having the encounters mentioned doesn't really mean that you're not in the psychic persuasion. It just means that you've been brainwashed by society into thinking that these powers are weird, and you've in turn managed to suppress them. Should you get over that, maybe you'll be able to unlock them again. If not, it's all good...vulkar.

I probably could rule the world, but that would require work and money. When I have enough money, I'll rule. But, you all won't know it until it's too late. The plan is still in the works, just need the money and manpower to execute it.

Till then, I'll be working at Jamdat as a game tester.

Okay, skipping over all your arguments...

You've contradicted yourself, Vulkar. There are choices. I go through them every minute of everyday. I have obligations and I have wants. I decide based on necessity what I'm going to do at that moment.

At the bookstore, in the back of my mind sits the bills that must be paid since I need to keep the things they're tied to. There are books and other things I want. I know I'm going to overdraft myself, but I didn't. Why? Because I don't need that book, and I do need the telephone. I do need my cell phone (I live in LA, I need my phone). I need my internet (for work purposes as well). I need a car that works. That car needs gas. I also need food. So, bills or books?

Since you're so sure that I'll pick the obvious, I'll let you tell me what I did that day.

Anyway, as an adult, I go through myriad decisions everyday (most dealing with money) and I don't always make the decision you'd think I'm preordained to make. I overdraw my bank account every now and then because I cave to something I want, or because I pay something I need. I drive for a few days on low fuel. I put off oil changes. I don't wash the car for weeks. I drive in inclement weather conditions, including to school.

I skip work for other things that are important (or trivial) to me. You can't tell me that it was actively destined for me to get into a minor fender bender at work because everyone else was getting into them that week. Or, that as a result of that, the building put in a STOP sign and a Right Turn Only sign. Or, that my parking one spot over from where I usually do prevented my car from being broken into that day. That my choosing to work outside that one day was going to seal my fate as a Federal agent.

I love the rain. I can control my vehicle in the rain. I chose not to leave that morning because I don't trust other drivers in the rain. I still would have gone to class regardless (for I don't want to be on academic probation), but I have the flexibility of going whenever I choose during the week.

I make choices on the fly. And, yes, my mind does randomly change at every millisecond of every day. You don't know my mind...only I know my mind. My car is clean. I should shower, I'm probably not going to, but I'll jump in a few minutes before I have to leave for work. I can make the drive in forty-five minutes, but will probably either be a few minutes early, right on time, or a few minutes close to being late.

I know! You learned a new word, and decided to use it to death, right? "Inevitable". How about:
assured, binding, cold, compulsory, decided, decreed, destined, determined, doomed, fated, fateful, fixed, for certain, foreordained, imminent, impending, ineluctable, ineludible, inescapable, inexorable, inflexible, irresistible, irrevocable, necessary, obligatory, on ice, ordained, pat, prescribed, settled, sure, unalterable, unavoidable, undeniable, unpreventable, without recourse?

Just saying. Anyway, you're walking the line of statistics there, and turning into a theory of contradictory instances to suit your period of confusion. It's good. It's a start, but it's not a sound start. Just work on it. You should be able to prove something. Or not. Doesn't really matter.

According to statistics, there is always the possibility that I will be involved in at least three car accidents during my lifetime. I've been in two so far. Statistically, there is someone being mugged right now. There is someone buying a condom somewhere. Someone is having an orgasm. Someone has died. Someone has been born. A car has broken down. A dollar has been lost. Somewhere on this planet there is a car accident. Somewhere on this planet, someone is thinking the exact same thought I'm thinking.

Mathematically, anything is possible. Scientifically, anything is probable. Theoretically, everything is available to be molded to one's belief systems. Your turn.

Adventure
You need adventures.
Real life has been very boring for you and you
can't help but dream away. Nothing is exciting
or fascinating in your life and can't
understand why it all is so dull. You like
having fun, but are probably not a bouncing
person because of that. There is a probability
that you either like to read/watch fantasy or
similar genres, or have a creative side that
lets you release your fantasy world.

Somewhat accurate. I do crave adventure and vacation, and going to San Francisco every year just isn't cutting it anymore. I'd like to do more, see more, and experience more before I'm hunkered down to a job and a husband (possibly kids as well). I do have a creative side, and we've seen both the writing and drawing side.

I don't make resolutions because I don't keep them. Instead, I set goals. I know they're almost the same thing, but goals are just more realistic in my mind.

For instance, eradicating my credit card debt. I know it's not going to happen this year. It will eventually, in the last three years, I've paid off two credit cards. I only need one more to go.

Maintaining a healthy body and increasing my overall strength. I want to work for government, and they want fit people. So, to live longer and keep that better job, I just keep this going.

Buy a Prius. I don't have a date for this one either. I just want one. A Japanese one.

Weird goal: odd subject line for every single LJ entry for one year, and an entry a day no matter what for a whole year. It's started already. None of my subject lines so far have anything to do with what I'm writing about. And, I've had an entry everyday thus far. If I was able to sustain it for a whole week and a whole month, a whole year shouldn't be a problem. At the end of this year, I'll gather together all my entries from 2004, 2005, and 2006 and create a nice coffee table book for myself and others to share.

Learn Tai Chi. It's a great martial art, and I'm so in tune with my bodily chakras and chi, it seems to suit me better.

Straight A's. I know I can do it. I just need the motivation. I have straight A's right now. Just have to maintain it.

I've enabled multiple voting, so you don't have to pick just one. I know it's 23 stories, and I know it's a lot of reading, but I'm just asking for a favorite. It doesn't have to be chosen now, but I would like a little input. Was there something you had a question about? Is there an unfinished story you'd like to see finished? Was there a plot that confused you? Do you want to know why I'm such a bitter person? Come on! It can't be that hard to read through a few of the shorter stories...Please? With sugar on top? (No cherries, I keep those for my appletinis.)

Anyway, I've started revising most of my stories and got to wondering about what people on the board liked about them. So, given the choices that I presented, which story of mine do you like best, and why? It really does help me as I prepare my writing portfolio, and some of my stories are going to be adapted for filming...of which I may have to do on location somewhere in Northern California.

I've provided links to each story, just in case you want to re-read or have never read them. To give you a summary, I tend to write rather dark stories with highly immersive characters, or I write adaptations and interpretations of my own life.

My Works

Eternal Damnation -- Eternal life on a damned planet. Is it worth it?

Juice -- Genius fascinated with blood finds no bounds in killing a few people for his interests.

Memoirs of a Tormented Youth -- an autobiographical account of my life as the memories flow.

The Demon -- Frustrated game reviewer finds new hobby as a world-reknown secret assassin.

Red Leaf -- Government experiment soldier finds that he possesses extraordinary powers that he feels no government should control.

Soldier of Fortune -- (renamed as Hacker Assassin) Semi-autobiographical account of a teenage government hacker agent recruited to do more than a simple hacking assignment.

Soldier of Fortune: Arizona -- (renamed as Hacker Assassin: Arizone until I can find a better title) Set five years after the ending of Hacker Assassin, the main character figures out that his new college buddies are closer friends that he thought they were.

Video Game Assassin -- basis of The Demon, but different and involving a game tester for fictional video game publisher OnSight.

I Wish I Were A Computer -- ever wonder how your computer feels?

Disheveled Pestilence -- Turning writer's block into a story.

The Shaman -- Love knows no bounds, and knows no enemies.

Trip To School -- (since renamed Island Drive) a spin-off from the Paradox Island Series featuring Domain's T'om and Boundaries Unseen's Rosy and their kids on a mid-afternoon drive around Paradox Island. Set in a slightly advanced future than the stories are.

British Days -- unfinished short story about not feeling like oneself.

Innocence -- random story about a father and daughter whom live in the Oakridge city of Paradox Island.

Mind's Work -- a dreamer takes us through his Saturday afternoon, and the frustrations of being a gifted genius.

Introspective -- an agent finds himself wondering about life in the last moments of his death in the wretched and unforgiving hold of the desert.

Life with Jack -- Hard times with a car that can think for itself. [Edit: I found this after I had created the poll, and couldn't edit it anymore, so just tell me if you like it without having to vote.]

The Paradox Island Series

Paradox Island Series Discussion -- outlines races, technologies, settings and other key factors found in the series. A must-read for clarification before diving in to read any of the series novels.

Paradox Island -- follow Special Ops agent Lee Almodovar through life on Paradox Island as he struggles to maintain his dual life, and stop something greater from happening.

Domain -- see life through the eyes of bitter Pat Betts, a former Special Ops agent, obsessed with exposing Lee as an active agent, while destroying something in the lives of his friends.

Showers -- join scientists Crystle Stevenson and Tom Graves as they investigate the odd natural phenomena of the Showers, and as Crystle begins to uncover the truth behind a mysterious object in their data.

Boundaries Unseen -- apprentice Rosy travels to the north portion of the island to intercept her teacher, but finds trouble along the way courtesy of Pat and friends.

Dark Diaries -- journalist Christine Demarantus and husband Brandon Demarantus (a TMC employee) find some new wonders on their little planet that needs to be exploited.

Darkness: Pathetique -- in association with the Showers and everything else that is going on, Ryan finds himself removed from his reality and facing a demon that the others are soon to face as well.

Now, your theory doesn't make sense. You've contradicted yourself again relating that everything we do in life is based on a matter of chance as related to individual responses to a variety of environment and physiological stimuli? How is that preordained, non-voluntary reaction? How is that an inevitable decision?

Statistics is a sub-division of mathematics, or the science of probabilities, which would tie into your theory if I understand it correctly--which I don't. You're not clear. Start over. I want to understand what I'm arguing about.

Give us an explanation. Answer my questions, if you can.

My side:

The world around us, as we know it, is created every single portion of every single day (or any length of the concept that we perceive as time) by every single man, woman, child, and animal on this planet. Our planet is what it is because every organism on this earth makes it so. This has no implication on what we choose to do during our days, but it establishes why the planet exists as it does.

Our decisions, in a whole effort to create our own personal existences, are fueled by the power of quantum physics and the inner strengths of our brains. If we are not able to physically alter the world to our choosing, we can at least alter the few items that we have influence over such as finances, family, friends, clothing, food, sex, whatever else you can control.

However, if one truly masters the ability to manipulate their surroundings, then choices made whenever in that time span will influence the outcome of whatever time span of their choosing. It's quantum dynamic theory, which also happens to be taught at UCLA.

Your turn.

Posted on 01-04-06 08:13 AM, in A humorous blunt approach to your personality. Link
I know this is a bump of an old thread, but since I didn't want to start a new one:

Sociopath
You are 71% Rational, 42% Extroverted, 85% Brutal, and 100% Arrogant.

You are the Sociopath! As a result of your cold, calculating
rationality, your introversion (and ability to keep quiet), your
brutality, and your arrogance, you would make a very cunning serial
killer. You care very little for the feelings of others, possibly
because you are not a very emotional person. You are also very
calculating and intelligent, making you a perfect criminal mastermind.
Also, you are a very arrogant person, tending to see yourself as better
than others, providing you a strong ability to perceive others as weak
little animals, thus making it easier to kill them. In short, your
personality defect is the fact that you could easily be a sociopath,
because you are calculating, unemotional, brutal, and arrogant. Please
don't kill me for writing mean things about you!

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.

2. You are more INTROVERTED than extroverted.

3. You are more BRUTAL than gentle.

4. You are more ARROGANT than humble.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Hippie.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Spiteful Loner, the Smartass, and the Capitalist Pig.

*

*

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you
could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42%
Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is
close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well.
Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can
determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored
near fifty percent for certain traits.

The other personality types:

The Emo Kid Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Brute Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Class Clown Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

I've apparently changed. Evolved, not so sure. Becoming a sociopath could be perceived as an improvement over being a smart-ass...in some circles.

Starving artist? I can see that, actually. But, it's still funny. I still like being a sociopath.

Still shouldn't smoke pot. I'm not really looking out for you. I could care less, and I actually do care less. I'm just saying that smoking pot is stupid. You can be weird and totally off without doing drugs. According to certain tests, I'm a total sociopath. Yet, I can still function in the world...with all my hair.
