| Fuck Giant Eagle and fuck the owner and manager specifically. I got the job at Sam's Club so I had to put in my two weeks (because their a "competitor" so I can't work for both). My last day was supposed to be the 20th... then the avalanche of assholishness began.
First off, one of our cash office people... basically the #2 person, got fired. Shit went down, money went missing because deadbeat customers stole back money they were paying for giftcards... about $1k in all. She and one other customer service guy got suspended for it because they were on the same drawer. They know neither of them stole the money, so they said both were suspended and could come back yesterday. They instituted a policy of one person per drawer at customer service. Then they told the #2 person she was fired because she violated that rule... which they now claim was always in effect (which is funny, because if that is the case, then every single cash office worker, customer service clerk, and manager should be fired as well because it has never been practiced). The customer service guy was not fired. So that first part happened... which meant that all of us who were coordinators or higher were working six days a week to make up for not having two people. Then comes my orientation for Sam's Club where they tell me this week I start my training, so I have 21 hours over there. I give the information to the supervisor that makes my schedule because it conflicts with what they had wanted me to work this week. The manager told her to not schedule me at all. That in and of itself isn't that big of a deal... other than being fucking stupid and petty because they are already short-staffed. But no, the thing that pissed me off is that they didn't plan to tell me about it. The supervisor had to take the schedule home with her to juggle shifts around to make this happen, and she showed up for closing shift on Saturday with the final schedule for approval. I was opening coordinator, so I was already there. The manager had been standing around up front for hours because of some other stuff going on, and he had been cordial but otherwise didn't talk to me at all. Didn't say a fucking word. The supervisor saw me and asked him if I had been told yet... his response? "No, she'll find out when you post the schedule." So, she told me herself. That was how I found out that Saturday was my last day of work at Giant Eagle... one hour before my shift was over. Did I mention that they also made the supervisor tell the other person she was fired? You know... the thing that is either the manager or HR person's job? Or that the one that got fired is the supervisor's best friend? Yeah... shit like this is why I decided to leave in the first place. So fuck them! |

| So the VP debate was much better. I think actual journalists should always be moderators... she took no shit from either of them!
I personally think that Biden won the debate, since all the Republicans could say afterward was "he smiled too much"... I've heard remarks that he was rude and interrupting, but after they praised Romney for doing the exact same thing during the last debate I don't think they have a leg to stand on. |

| I wasn't expecting that honestly... but okay. And nice choice.
Um... let me see. This was my first day of 11th grade, and that was the room that the Science Club met in (read: the gaming club disguised as the science club because the school was stupid). I was a few months shy of my 16th birthday. Present me would think that Junior me was in the best condition of her life and that she should work to keep it that way. Also that she is rather naive and tended to coast through school instead of really challenging herself by taking the AP and honors classes. Honestly, I am both envious and annoyed by Junior me because she was just so emo with little reason, yet had so much potential to be truly awesome that hadn't really matured yet. Junior me would probably look at Present me and wonder what the fuck happened health-wise. She would probably still enjoy talking to me and hearing about life in college and how living in another state is like. She'd probably be surprised with my choice of history over biology, but understand my reasons since she'd only just be getting into Algebra 2 at the time and would be terrified by the thought of calculus. Given my emo-girl mind at the time, however, I think that she would be most interested in my dating history and saddened that Stitch and I didn't work out (at this point, we had just started dating) but interested in how I had grown as a person. |

| Found a nifty show that should be just up your ally, Rogue. I think it's on AMC, and it's called Hell on Wheels... it's about the building of the Transcontinental Railroad and the main character is a Confederate veteran... it makes for a very interesting show. The second season just ended. | |||

| I am happy for you, Kat... I totally understand where you are coming from. I had to wait for a year to get my last wisdom tooth pulled and it is totally worth being happy about.
I got my first big compliment from a customer at the new job the other day. It wasn't anything special I did really, just helped her through the process of making digital prints and she was super grateful. I felt rather good about it. |
