| I'm dropping my grandmother off at my aunt's house today, and then I'm spending the day in L.A. to celebrate my temporary freedom.
I'll be out of town next week. From Monday through Thursday, I'll be in Central California helping my boyfriend's dad, then Thursday I have to head home and pick up a friend at the airport who's flying in for a convention. | Bought some striped knee-high socks from the Diagon Alley Harry Potter store in downtown L.A. Huzzah for finally having decent faire socks.
Then bought a T-shirt at this horror warehouse out in "the Valley," then went to Burbank and bought a couple shitty DVDs at the Fry's Electronics that looks like it's been invaded by aliens. EDIT: Just got back from Burbank again after hanging around a bunch of warehouses that were like the Mythbusters' set on crack. Bought a ceramic tiki mug and spicy peanut brittle with dark chocolate and salt at this art gallery that was filled with morbid art. So yeah, THAT was my latest purchase. Yeah, as big a fan I was of seeing House and Cuddy get together, when it finally happened I just lost so much interest. I'm still watching, it's just the new doctors they introduced aren't interesting or likeable.

And now like half the characters aren't even on the show any more (Cuddy, Cameron, Kutner, 13, Amber, etc). I'm not shocked at all that they just decided to end it. The creator has said that House can't be happy. Once he's happy, the show's over, so it figures about the shark jumping ballet last season.

If Gaga's next, I won't mourn. As far as the released information has gone, it seems she was found with her head underwater in her hotel room bathtub, but she didn't drown since there wasn't enough water in her lungs. What they DID find her system, though, was a lot of prescription medication (Xanex, etc) and alcohol and no signs of criminal intent. They're not sure if it was suicide or if she just really had a problem.

Ended up seeing "The Woman in Black" last night with my friend since the people she was going to see it with just went to see it without her saying it's better as a date movie and left her high and dry, alone. Assholes.

Anyway, this would be my first time seeing Daniel Radcliffe where he wasn't a child or a wizard, but just an adult. He was pretty good in it. The movie, however, while it was eerie and all, was filled with a lot of cheap jump scares. Well... I'm no fan of ghost movies. They tend to scare the shit out of me. Right now I'm actually watching the newest episode of House. It's almost over, so let's see if House has another last minute epiphany. I've also been watching Ink Master (mostly to see if anyone makes any bone-headed permanent mistakes on their "human canvas") and RuPaul's Drag Race (because it's fucking fierce ).
I should really watch last night's episode of Walking Dead, and I'm gearing up for the return of Mad Men and Game of Thrones. Eeeeeee!!

My favorite racer this season is Chad Michaels. Sharon Needles comes a close second. Either Kenya Michaels or Milan third.

There's too much bullshit drama this season and I'm finding it hard to like anyone other than those I mentioned above. Grrr... Willam. My absolute favorite queens over the years have been Pandora Boxx, Delta Work, and Jujubee. I was definitely happy Raja won last season. She deserved it, at least. What made her win all the more annoying was how people on the forums had already long since predicted it -- since Ru makes the ultimate decision of who stays and who sashays away, really she picks the winner. People were noticing that Ru tended to pick the queens that more closely resembled her. Thankfully Raja broke that pattern. Really, I would have been fine with any of the top four (Raja, Manila, Alexis Matteo, and Yara Sofia) winning. Just glad Shangela was eliminated. God... Wish they would have brought back Delta, though, instead of Carmen. Anyway...

For years I've thought places like the Renaissance or some period like that, but it's one of those overly romanticized eras that was actually pretty damn tough to exist in, especially if you were, say, a woman or someone who wanted to speak out against commonly held beliefs.

These days, I'd go with maybe the Old West, which while it's also romanticized and I've studied up on the gritty and gruesome parts (vigilante "justice," etc), I feel like I'd just have preferred life during that rough and rugged time. My other go-to is the American 1970s. Classic rock, grindhouse movies, Star Wars (and other great science fiction films coming out), disco fashion (not my thing, personally, but it's nice to see people get into it), protesting, underground comix, and it's about this time that many of the cool things of the old world are still up before they're closed up and torn down to make way for "improvement."
