| I am doing a ton of reading for my written comps. I've finished reading John Dewey's Experience & Education and Jerome Bruner's The Process of Education and have just started on Building a Bridge to the 18th Century by Neil Postman (he calls Plato a fascist within the first twenty pages... but it's interesting)... once I finish that I have Border Crossings by Henry Giroux and then I get to write a ten page paper of rambling! Joy!
Oh... and also been reading far more Dragon Age fanfiction than is probably healthy for me, but I don't care. So... on that whole Amerindian thing... I've heard the phrase, and historians tend to use either or... but this whole notion of them thinking one term is better than the other is bullshit. Personally, I think that the term "Amerindian" is for writers who are too lazy to type out the words Native American. |

| You make a good point there, Vulkar. Considering that all of these mass shootings have been carried out by people suffering from various forms of depression or other mental illness it would make a lot of sense to actually work on improving treatment for these conditions and thus prevent them from getting to the point that they think mass homicide is the answer.
I believe that would fall under the category of "treating the problem"... which is something that we logically should be doing. |

And then, then, when the midnight deadline for the vote has passed, you VOTE ON IT ANYWAY?!!!! There is a fucking LIVE FEED with over 180,000 people watching, a chamber packed with spectators, and we all fucking WATCHED YOU VOTE AFTER MIDNIGHT! And then you have the audacity to LIE about it and say the vote happened at 11:59pm? Bullshit! I can't say Fuck Texas, because there were several people in that room that fought hard to stop this, and actually succeeded only to have that victory ripped from them by crooked assholes that think that the rules don't apply to them. | Not totally... there are still the 36 states that don't provide equal rights... but that is gonna be a slow, grassroots movement to change that.
I teared up at the gym when I saw the verdicts come down. After all the shit the day before with the Voting Rights Act and the Davis Filibuster shenanigans, it made me feel great to see both laws get struck down. |

Ben's mom had to be taken to the ER because of dehydration and heat exhaustion today, despite her drinking plenty of water. We decided to just go home afterward because she needed rest, Ben and I didn't get much sleep (too humid to sleep), we didn't want to pay any more money for parking, and I really need to work on my paper. So no fireworks for us this year. I'm bummed about that, but more glad that she is okay. Not a fun day. Oh, and speaking of that paper... fuck you writer's block. I fucking hate you. |
