Hooray for driving home at 4 in the morning, after having blacked out for a few seconds on the freeway whilst behind the wheel, only to jump in the shower to scrub off all the sticky fake blood and all the liquid latex just stuck all over my face and chest.
I've missed nights/early mornings like this. |

My first thought when Brandon told me a Sikh temple had been shot up was that it must have been some lunatic who mistook them for Muslim (who should also never be attacked either!).
What a fucking shame all around. My question is why is this getting tagged as an act of terrorism and the Aurora kid isn't? |

Finally finished the first season of Downton Abbey. I like it a lot, what's more it's trippy seeing the girl who plays Ygritte on Game of Thrones being a maid who wants to be a secretary. I love this actress so much.
Also I've been glued to the TV, watching the Olympics, whenever we go out and it's on on some TV in the bar or at a restaurant. Plus I spent a good chunk of last night watching the live feed of JPL when Curiosity landed. So many good things to watch lately. |

They finally posted the cast for the upcoming All Stars season.
Get More: Watch Reality TV, Video and Movies, Logo TV I'm really happy with this group, but I understand people's fervor in wanting Mimi Imfurst replaced with someone like Willam or Morgan McMichaels. |

Just finished watching Like Water for Chocolate. I don't know whether or not it was supposed to be a comedy. It was like someone outlined the premise for Mexican drama and told Mel Brooks to run with it.
Pretty much this girl is stuck following this tradition that as the youngest daughter she is not allowed to marry and has to take care of her mother until the old bitch's death. The girl falls in love with a boy, but her mother throws the oldest daughter his way, pretty much going, "Take it or leave it." So in an effort to be "near" the girl, he marries her sister, which makes the girl so sad she cries while baking their wedding cake and it makes all the wedding guests cry and then profusely vomit while eating it at the reception. Conversely there's a scene where she's cooking while horny, which makes her sister run naked into the desert where she's picked up by a revolutionary and the last they hear of her for a while is that she's working at a whore house. There's a lot of other surreal shit, but.. Spoiler: ...eventually the girl gets her boy, 22 years later, after his wife (her sister) dies from farting in bed. The movie ends with him dying during orgasm with her, she eats matches, catches on fire, and his daughter's daughter lives happily ever after re-telling the entire story with half an onion on her head. |

Fuck friends who move away and then post about how much better the people around them are than their old friends.
A friend's brother has gone away to college and posted on his Facebook, "Glad to be around intellects for once." I never really hung around him, but that was such a prick thing to say. Similarly, someone I considered a best friend moved away without notice and then acted like he was better than me since he's been living with people who have money and culture and so on. Any time I'm in the area he's moved to or whenever he's in town he NEVER makes the effort to see us, call us, or anything even when I call him to ask if he at least wants to hang out for a little while. He's so fucking shitty about it. In fact, despite the fact that I called him up to hang out frequently when he bitched no one cared about him, he prefers the company of fake people who just use him when he's here. Yeah, I'm pretty bitter. Anyway, it's a sad affair when friends leave, and I understand that you want to feel like you've made the right choice when it's come to moving away, but have some fucking tact, assholes! By the way, thank you, Elara, for not being one of these people. (Last edited by Rogue on 08-07-12 08:08 PM) |

Originally posted by Elara Yeah, it seems like it's intentionally cheesy. But then again, we don't really have many jingles these days since ad companies would rather just trade off an already well-known song. |

You know, I've thought about that and my thought is that the ad companies' market research probably showed that the public prefers already recognizable orchestrations and probably thinks jingles are corny.
That's how it seems to me since we don't really have musicals, as he knew them, any more. People don't just break into song while in conversation with someone. Musical numbers these days tend to be dream sequences (Chicago, etc) or the characters are performing on a stage, so it doesn't seem as spontaneous or implausible, as some people put it. Even then in cases like Glee or Rock of Ages there aren't any original songs either, they're covering already well-known songs. |

Sorry I haven't been active this week. I've got family in from out of town and I'm so worn out from taking them everywhere in this record heat. | |||
