| I thought that video was serious in its opinion of welfare recipients until it got the part about what the money should be used for. Sure, the Nazi and Communist logos drive you to that point as well, but you know how the GOP is. It's not to the extreme of Swift's A Modest Proposal, but it's satire nonetheless.
His comment reminded me of, whether you believe she really said it or not (historians disagree either way), Marie Antoinette's comment when the poor cried for bread, "Let them eat cake." It's just this level of being surrounded by the wealthy and only having vague understandings of the poor, assuming that the poor just aren't manning up and bettering themselves. | Fuck you, old lady who rear-ended my mom on the freeway and is claiming she was struck by someone else from behind, who had hit and run.
Her insurance refuses to pay ours. Thankfully, Brandon was shooting video when we pulled up at the scene, and we've taken still showing that there's no damage on the back of her car. Even if there were a scratch that didn't show up on camera, whatever caused it would not have been enough to push her car into my mom's and then Mom into someone else in a domino effect. The person who was ahead of my mom left the scene without exchanging info or even getting out of the car. Here's hoping these pictures are enough to prove she didn't have "substantial damage" on her car's rear. I've had enough bullshit over money this week to last years. |

| Apparently this homeowner in Texas decided it would be a great idea to illustrate his anti-Obama stance by "lynching" a chair (which as you know is a reference to Clint Eastwood's so-called "conversation with Obama" during the Republican National Convention).

| It reminds me of ethnographies I've read in American studies class illustrating how fandom is passed down through families and can get people through some dark times in their lives. They might not even be hugely into the thing, but rather that it simply connects them with others, comforts them, etc.
