But it's backward compatible with the DS, and all the N64 remakes and whatnot look incredible so far. I'm definitely hoping to get one sometime this year. Look up videos of OoT if you can Sorcha, the screenshots don't do it justice at all. It practically looks like a Gamecube game or above it with the updated graphics and framerate. Skyward Sword I still don't think we know much about, but I'll rebuy a Wii for it eventually. |

I don't care about this at all and for mainly one reason only: original series creator Hideki Kamiya has nothing to do with this. After seeing what Capcom did to RE5 without RE creator Shinji Mikami, I have no hopes for this game at all.
Heavenly Sword looked and sounded terrible, but Enslaved was fine. That said it doesn't really matter because it looks like Ninja Theory has no plans to make this play like the old games. Slower and chunkier is what I'm hearing. This is a real kick in the nuts to me because say what any of you will about God of War-esque games, but I hate them. Japanese developers make way better action games in my book, I still think the Onimusha series and stuff like the first new Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox, or hey DMC 1-4 destroy most modern action games. Anyways that's another topic... Capcom's already jumped ship to me this gen. They've been slipping up a lot these past few years. Lost Planet 2 was a huge step down from the original, it was fun co-op but that was the only way I could play it and it'll probably be something I never touch again. Dark Void was just straight up terrible. Bionic Commando wasn't bad but extremely forgettable. Dead Rising 1-2 are incredibly boring. Don't even get me started on RE5. And this new re-envisioning of DMC just looks stupid. Seriously have you guys looked up the new creator for this one? He sounds pretentious and the new Dante design is practically based off him. And PS if some of you also didn't know the Mega Man creator quit Capcom a few months ago as well. They have no creative staff anymore. (Last edited by Spiral King on 02-15-11 11:31 PM) |

Originally posted by Lagann Well like I said above I personally think Enslaved was pretty solid, good characters, cool setting/atmosphere, gameplay could've used a little more depth but yeah. ... that said I won't miss them. But yes, I'm hearing the same thing. Most of their games have bombed in sales, so this could be the deal breaker.

Mine is pretty horrendous and has been for years, usually can take me hours to fall asleep. This past year it's gotten extreme with like a day or two a month where I simply cannot sleep at all until I'm absolutely about to pass out ~9am the next day. This past week was one of the worst I've had in a long time. I've been trying to force myself up earlier in the morning. But it's hard.
|
The problem is I need that 8 hours of sleep to really feel good the next day, and I pretty much never get it. Usually just 6 hours or so, and anything beyond 8 hours makes it even worse, I'm pretty sure oversleeping effects me even more than undersleeping. There's been nights this past year where I straight give up and just get on the computer again or play games. My problem is basically what Gurren described, once I hit the bed for some reason my mind has to explode and it won't rest, keeping me up. I've developed another bad habit this year and that's taking a nap once a day sometimes, which just messes up the schedule even more. I just don't understand how easily and quickly I can fall asleep during the day when it's a completely different story at night when I really need to sleep. Also an even more annoying thing is, sometimes after a day of being up without sleeping at all... that night I might finally be ready to pass out early at 10-12pm, but when I do on thesedays, I'll wake up a few hours later in the middle of the night and then I'm up for the rest of the night. So annoying... (Last edited by Spiral King on 02-27-11 03:32 PM)

It's extremely rare for me, but I can recall several oddities...
|
- This had to have been when I was a kid, but I remember one dream where I was falling off a cliff or something and right when I hit the "ground", I had hit the ground in real life from rolling off my bed and woke up. Weird! - This was like last year or two ago, I guess it was more like a nightmare, but I just remember having a weird bad dream of sorts and there was like a grim reaper pinning me down in my bed that prevented me from waking up quickly. It was one of those strange times (maybe it's happened to you guys?) where it was like I knew I was dreaming, but couldn't wake. I woke up, then woke up again to being pinned down in bed, THEN really work up. PS this is before I had seen the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and everything!... lol - A few days ago I had another really weird dream where I couldn't wake up, it wasn't bad though. But it was weird. I was in this odd room with some friends I knew, and their stepdad for some reason. At one point I wanted to leave but couldn't find my shoes, then I found one I was going to borrow and when I looked at my feet after that my shoes were magically back on. That's about all I remember... wtf!? - The absolute worst and most nightmarish dream I've ever had was also within the last two years or so. It even pains me to think of this shit since it was so crazy, but all I remember is suddenly myself, friends and family, and others had formed a group circle in absolute pitch black, and there was the most excruciating screaming and yelling in the background I had ever heard, topped off with tornado-like thundering winds, then I remember someone saying "This is it" as people were being sucked into this void, into absolute nothingness. We could barely see each other in this circle but one by one it got darker and darker. When it hit me I woke up and it was seriously one of the worst, weirdest nightmares I've ever had, I think I immediately turned on my lights which I've never done before, and was really nervous about going back to sleep right away. It was like I was in my own kind of made up perception of Hell, living my fear of death, or something sick like that. Not fun. I've never really had good dreams to be honest. As a teenager, yeah I had "those" kinds of dreams for awhile but not anymore. Before that I usually had crazy dreams about robots or transforming tractors trying to kill me or something, but I was never really scared of that stuff back then. It was like I was living some ridiculous action movies or something. Nowadays my dreams are just weird as crap, and I get the weird occasional nightmare out of the blue sometimes I guess... Yeah, that'd be quite odd if you were never exposed to anything like that beforehand.

Dreams... weird, weird stuff. I've had the "can't make a sound" thing happen to me sometimes too. On another note, I HAVE been watching the Elm Street movies lately, I love them haha. They aren't that scary at all to me, just more campy fun and such... but they still beg the question, what exactly are dreams and all. It's so weird it's almost scary.

Inception with Rifftrax sounds amazing actually. I'm gonna be honest and say after seeing that movie a second time, I kind of thought it sucked quite a bit. I hate to sound cliche' like a lot of the criticism it gets, but I definitely agree that Ellen Page's character is rather worthless. I think originally she wasn't supposed to be in it? But Hollywood thought the movie was too complex or something, so she's there so they can explain absolutely every single little pointless thing to us. It's sad that you could say, hey maybe a fan edit would be cool, but too bad she's in like 80% of the movie. I also really disliked how quick she was to being emotionally attached to all those characters, realistically it just didn't add up to me.

I've been laying off the anime lately and watching a lot more movies. Really, way too much so here's a quick run down of the last two weeks... Rewatches: Terminator - I might prefer it over T2. Just love the bleak atmosphere and chase pacing. Aliens - Absolutely love it. First time seeing it all the way through: Alien - Without a doubt one of the best timeless films I've ever seen. Better than Aliens I'd say, but I still love Aliens despite some fans. Escape From New York - Campy John Carpenter, lol. New watches: Aliens 3 - I honestly didn't think it was "that" bad. Not amazing though. Alien Resurrection - Perhaps even worse than AvP. Very bad, hard to finish. The Abyss - Loved it, a bit long and sappy towards the end though. Mad Max - Not what I expected, very different from 2-3! Not bad. Black Rain - 1989, directed by Ridley Scott with Michael Douglas, one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Cop drama with a LOT of power and emotion. The Shining - Yes, finally saw this. Completely blew my mind, Kubrick's directing here was insane and the camera work was so impressive and classy. Incredible. Hard Boiled (John Woo!) - Crazy. The Killer (John Woo!) - Crazy with more emotion. Also was convinced to give the Elm Street series a whirl, it's been a hell of a blast... Nightmare on Elm Street - Loved it, good story/characters, amazing music, lots of charm. More amusing that scary, but still good stuff. Nightmare on Elm Street 2 - Wow lol. Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Great stuff, nice continuity between 1. Nightmare on Elm Street 4 - Turning into Goosebumps, still fun. Nightmare on Elm Street 5 - Horrible, insanely bad. Nightmare on Elm Street 6 - Goosebumps, bad, but amusing unlike 5. I hear 7 is pretty legit and supposedly Robert Englund's favorite after the original, plus Wes Craven returns so that has to say something I hope. I don't think I plan to check out the remake anytime soon though, doesn't sound too great. |
