Yeah, I can definitely see how this would equate to a "House" case, especially with how often they screwed up diagnoses each episode. The reproductive system is a crazy thing. One of my bestest friends was told she could never carry to term, and she had miscarried several times in her life. She was in such denial that she could ever have a child that she ended up having one of those "I Didn't Even Know I Was Pregnant" babies, with her water breaking while getting a check-up because she didn't know why she had such horrible abdominal pain. What's more Brandon's aunt finally had a baby after years of trying and having to go through the trauma of aborting once because the one she was carrying had a one-in-a-million spinal disease that would have caused it to be stillborn when it would come out. And one of my dad's clients just got back from South America, where she had to go to have in-vitro done, and after many years of trying she's finally pregnant at 42. | I don't play many games, but I am obsessed with Fallout 3 and keep trying to finish New Vegas (it keeps crashing and some of the bugs are insufferable).
I think of the decisions I've had to make in either, and the hardest ones were more the mediocre things. I tended to shoot for keeping my karma at Very Good, so things like blowing up Megaton weren't all that tempting. No, I would end up reloading over the stupid, small stuff. Like there's this teenager I had to guide to Big Town and he talks INCESSANTLY. His story was he lived with the children-led town called Little Lamplight (all those kids are total bratty shits). When the kids reach a certain age they have to live in this hellhole called Big Town (which is sold to them as a haven, so they'll leave). So you get to Little Lamplight to visit the Vault, but you meet Sticky and it's his birthday, so he's sad about having to leave Little Lamplight (the kids make fun of him), but REALLY excited to go to Big Town. So you have the option of guiding him, which I've always chosen to do. Along the way, he tells you all these random stories he's making up that go nowhere, he whistles, and bugs the hell out you with, "Are we there yet? Are we lost? I think we're lost! Why is this TAKING so long?" I tend to keep him around for a while because you can arm him and he'll help fight things along the way. In Fallout you're only allowed one companion at a time (alongside your dog), so it's nifty having Sticky as an extra gun to help with some things. So long as you don't go to Big Town, he'll keep with you unless you dismiss him or tell him to wait somewhere. Where the hard decision comes in -- you have the option of telling Sticky to shut up. I've taken that option and he always looks and sounds so goddamn heartbroken, and tells you he was just excited but he'll be quiet now. I know he's not real, but I HATE hurting people's feelings when they don't mean any harm. So I've just hit the point that I tend to just mentally tune him out. OK.. that was a really long answer... | Since Brandon was at work and Dad was at a baseball game, Mom and I went out for Chinese.
The booth next to ours had a group of senior citizens, among them a young woman with her loud daughter in a high chair. While my mom and I tried to have a quiet conversation, that other table was just so damn loud and I get easily distracted. Anyway, everyone yells at the kid for one reason or another. The old men actually say some rather misogynistic things at her, like, "You talk too much. Girls shouldn't be speaking unless addressed. Shut the hell up!" The mother didn't correct this. On top of this, they all occasionally said some pretty fucking racist bullshit. For instance, the mother was going on about not trusting the "chink" bathroom if she had to wash her daughter's spoon they brought for her. My mom and I just ended up sitting there in silence because we just couldn't compete and the rest of the room was entirely devoid of sound. Fuck that shit. | No one knows how to respond to this Malaysian flight. Seems like there's new speculations and "evidence" every hour.
Frankly, I was worried my friend, Isa, from Kuala Lumpur was on that flight because he hadn't posted on Facebook for days. Not that I thought he was flying to Beijing, but just the faint worry that he could have been. Random fact: I just saw "Swamp Thing" for the first time ever yesterday, and finally saw the second half of "Zardoz" last night. |

| Leaving for Washington at the end of this week. It'll be my first time there since I was 1, when my parents and I went to the last World's Fair in North America, Expo '86 in Canada.
I love road trips, but this'll be with Brandon's mom and grandmother included. They're not going to want to stop at all the interesting things. Well, at least I can look forward to Voodoo Doughnuts while breezing through Portland. |

| I haven't had enough of it to really give a sophisticated opinion. I had a meat dish where there was more bone than meat (I think it was goat), and yeah I've had insanely spicy jerk chicken.
This one episode of "Kitchen Nightmares" I saw, Chef Ramsay went to a Jamaican restaurant in Pasadena. When he complained that they would make food days in advance and keep serving from that rather than make things fresh, the owner (who was a doctor) kept saying that's how ALL Jamaican food is. It's always meant to be sitting around for a while and then eaten as is. This would explain some things. What movie would you like to have seen a sequel to? |
