Looks like the package is FINALLY on its way after I had to light a fire under her ass. She's acting so hurt and offended in the message to me regarding the case. She claims the original package "mailed" on Dec. 10 was lost and she's had to remake the gloves, but that package ALSO still says "USPS awaiting item."
I'll close the case when I've finally got the gloves on. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-22-17 11:20 PM) |

Brandon and I have unintentionally started taking turns reading aloud chapters of Asa Akira's memoir, "Insatiable: Porn -- A Love Story," to each other. It's an interesting read, at least. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

It's been pouring all day.
Hope everyone else's winter is treating them well. Everyone here in SoCal's either complacent about the rain, agreeing that we so desperately needed it, or complaining incessantly. |

Friend who loved to brag about how much money he made all the time asked Brandon and me out to sushi as a late birthday thing for me. The wait was two hours long and I'm standing in the cold wearing a much-too-thin sweater over a sleeveless dress and end up with a cold over the course of the week. Bill comes, it's $95, and friend throws down $20 and can't pay the $10 for parking.
I'm not saying fuck this friend or anything, but I'm somewhat frustrated while I'm attempting to work out how I'm going to pay off my credit card with most of my next paycheck and then try not to rack up that much before the next one. I'm hemorrhaging money at the moment. Some charges suddenly disappeared off Bran's debit card, so he thought he had more than he had and ended up over-drafting. I gave him money to cover the overdraft and keep his head above water there. Paid the phone bill. |

I'd say it was discovering I directly descend from Stephen Hopkins, but discovering my mother's brother was not my grandmother's son was kind of a blow. Not sure if he was my grandfather's at all. He doesn't even know he wasn't her son.
What movie has shocked you the most? |

Aww, haha, thanks.
The weekend was pretty full. Saturday went to Solvang to try the new tiki bar and getting the world's best tri-tip sandwiches along the way. Ended up going to another tiki bar in Ventura on the way home and got tiki drinks at a steak place that night. Sunday, we wanted to try hitting the Palm Springs tram to see the snow, but when we got there at 10 in the morning the marquee out front said they were selling tickets for the 4 pm tram. No matter, just got tiki drinks at the Tonga Hut and headed out to finally see East Jesus (of which Tappy and his wife are the caretakers these days.) It was pretty cool. Added four new mugs to my collection. Monday I got to sleep in and then go the Huntington. One of these I want to try tea at the Langham. |

Eep, sorry, Elara. I sort of had that too. I didn't get fully sick, but my nose was completely stuffed and runny for a week.
The last couple nights have been freezing with the mornings being really cold and then the days getting fairly hot. I miss the rain already. |

Originally posted by Elara Hang on. I will go count. 17. Unless I'm forgetting one here or there. I would have more but UnderTow in Phoenix was one week away from its mug release when I was out there. The place in Tucson wasn't open even though they said they would be. False Idol in San Diego was sold out when we finally visited and Tiki-Ti sold out of a 90-mug limited run I was interested in, but will supposedly have more next month. Most places I've been don't sell mugs, but I only buy them while I'm drinking at the place, never online. Originally posted by Xeoman It's an art installation in the desert. Sort of like Burning Man but all year 'round, surrounded by RVs and hovels of people living off the grid in Slab City. If you've ever played "GTA V," there's a good chance you've driven through a parody version of it. |

Essentially boy and girl are in L.A., trying to achieve their own show business-related dreams. Girl wants to be an actress and boy wants his own jazz club (because that would survive in Los Angeles -- LOL!!)
At first they don't get along, but eventually they intrigue each other enough during a couple musical numbers that they get together. It's kind of cute. Boy is approached by John Legend to join a lucrative pop-jazz band, and since boy wants girl to not have to justify her relationship with a poor, failing musician to her mother any more, he joins the band and has to tour and record and tour and record. A wedge is driven into their relationship. Where it succeeds: the story covers a lot of the struggle of trying to make it in L.A. and the original music's pretty good. Where it's just too cheesy: well, it's a love story. If you want to know how it all goes here's the spoilers. Spoiler: While boy is in his sell-out band, girl writes and produces her own sappy, one-woman show, which only a handful of people go see. Boy (SURPRISE!) wasn't able to make her show. They break up and she goes home to Nevada. Boy gets a phone call that some talent scout happened to see her one-woman show and wants her for a part. Boy drives out to Nevada and brings her to the audition. She gets the part. They remain broken up. Years later, boy and girl have achieved their dreams. She's a famous actress with a husband and daughter. Boy has his jazz club. Girl and her husband happen into the club and boy sees her and begins playing a song he wrote while they were dating. The scene cuts back to the beginning of the movie, showing how he wishes everything was different and how he shouldn't have brushed her off when they first met, how he should have ignored John Legend's offer to join his band, how he would have been in the audience for her show, and how she'd still be a successful actress with a daughter, but he'd be with her and it would be his daughter. His song ends, it's back to the present. Girl and her husband walk out of the club, boy and girl lock eyes one last time before she exits. The End. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-26-17 02:12 AM) |

I'm going through extreme burn-out with work. I'm just too tired of a lot of the bullshit that goes on there. I need another job. I feel so lost because I still don't know what to do with my life.

On a more positive note, my taxes have been e-filed and I bought my WonderCon badges.

I really don't do book series, but I suppose I've only scratched the surface enough on Discworld, that I should actually sit down and read it.
|
I've really read two or three Terry Pratchett books, and that's including "Good Omens," which he co-wrote with Gaiman. Your stomach hurts. What do you do? (Last edited by Rogue on 02-18-17 09:48 AM)

Yeah, finished that book in about a day and a half. Would have been sooner, but we only read when we were physically together.
|
Since then read Neil Gaiman's "The Graveyard Book" in graphic novel form and am in the most recent volume of "Vinland Saga" that was released. (Last edited by Rogue on 02-17-17 09:17 AM)

Oh, Elara. I know this frustration quite well.
|
My Facebook is also completely full of it. Indeed, fuck all you Ms of the world. OK, so... I got in trouble at work because something happened that was out of my control and I failed to report it to my boss. I made a mistake. I'm ashamed of myself, even though everyone involved is fine or doesn't care. The boss was disappointed, though, and I hate disappointing people. Anyway, cut to this past Friday, a week after that incident. I'm stressed out with the week I've had and was given, as an aide, a co-worker who'd made a bizarre report against me a couple months ago and other co-workers told me she's been videoing my driving with her phone. She used to be considered someone I could trust, but apparently not. So we're out at a Home Depot with my garden club because it's raining. Apparently two of my clients were holding hands, which is something we consider inappropriate. The other co-worker tells me while we're sitting down to do notes and yells at the male client that he shouldn't be doing that. He becomes agitated and tells her she's being mean to him and he doesn't like the way she's talking to him. Anyway, she tells me to not report it. I take a minute to finish my notes, then go pull the male client aside and quietly tell him that while he can have friends, it's just not appropriate to be holding hands while we're at program. Outside of program is another story. He calmly says OK and that he understands, and we return to what we're doing. I write a service note about the incident in his field folder and we all let the matter drop. Back at the center, the co-worker slips away while we're watching the clients, waiting for their rides home, and runs off to tell our case manager (second to the boss at our center) about the incident at Home Depot. I happen to overhear it while I'm taking a client, whose ride's arrival had been announced, to their taxi. So I step in to throw in my two cents and she turns, shocked that I was there. Again, she tried to get me to not report something and here she is telling the CM in hushed tones. She's become a part of this clique at work that's been currying a lot of favor with the CM and getting him to be a part of their group, and this clique happens to hate the rest of the people at the center. I'm really fucking tired of this workplace.

It's been raining again, and I love it.
|
I don't, however, love having to put together schedules at work and then try to scramble to come up with replacement locations for activities to keep my clients out of the rain. Pretty much my only complaint after the usual bitching about people driving worse and without headlights.

Been listening to the "La La Land" soundtrack again. I just really like "Another Day of Sun."
|
And Jimmy Fallon so perfectly parodied the movie too. I just keep re-watching the "Another Day of Sun" portion:

Depends. I've engaged with these before, but most of the time I just end up laughing and ultimately ignoring them, which does more damage than actually fighting them.

Windows XP? Not sure.

I'm really not all that computer literate. Seems like I'll get used to something and then the latest version comes out, the boyfriend will start using it on our computer, and then I'm ranting about how much I hate the new thing, how I can't find something any more, etc. The cycle continues. What would be your last meal on earth? |
